I would not recommend AMS to landlords, property managers, or busy property owners. My experience involved missed work, billing issues, poor communication, and virtually no accountability when problems arose. * Billed for service that was not fully performed. I was scheduled and billed for lawn service on July 21. My tenant later sent me photos on July 23 showing the lawn in very poor condition and asked what was going on. I contacted AMS myself and was told the crew had apparently been unable to access the backyard because of an issue with the gate. No one from AMS contacted me to let me know the work had not been completed, yet my card was charged the full amount for the visit. * Had to catch and correct a billing discrepancy myself. AMS charged me $195 for an "irrigation audit" and told me that amount would be credited toward the repair if I proceeded with the work. I approved an $880 irrigation manifold repair--and was then charged for both the repair and the audit. The promised credit was not applied automatically. I only received it after noticing the discrepancy myself, calling AMS, and asking them to correct it. * Expensive work with almost no follow-up. Despite spending hundreds of dollars on irrigation repairs and ongoing property maintenance, I received no meaningful follow-up communication or photos documenting the completed work. * Repeated requests for property photos were ignored. Because I do not live at the property, I specifically requested photos so I could verify its condition and the work being performed. Those requests repeatedly went unanswered. * A major irrigation issue went unnoticed. The irrigation timers were apparently not checked, and plants along an entire side of the property were ultimately lost. At no point did AMS alert me that there was a watering problem. When the issue became apparent, I saw no meaningful effort to acknowledge what had happened, determine how it had been missed, or propose a solution. What is most frustrating is that none of these problems required extraordinary service to avoid. I expected basic communication when work could not be completed, accurate billing, reasonable documentation of expensive repairs, and someone paying enough attention to the property to flag an obvious irrigation problem. Instead, managing AMS became another job for me: checking whether work had actually been performed, reviewing invoices for errors, repeatedly asking for photos, and discovering property problems after damage had already occurred. I brought these items up with the Operations Manager over the phone and email and was consistently disappointed in their responses. For a homeowner who needs a landscaping company they can trust to manage a property without constant supervision, I would advise looking at other companies. Very disappointed in them. Have worked with them for years, but lately they have not been completing work and doing a poor job when they do something. The last straw was them being rude to my wife and telling her "they were refusing to come back here." They hacked at a bush on the side of the house in their frustration. Left message to call to get a quote, no one called me back. 1 week later, a guy walks into my back yard and takes pictures. Our house guest asked who he was, he gives no name of company, just says "I have an appointment". I call him later and with no apologies given, immediately raises his voice yelling if I have a problem call the company. I call the company to complain, minutes later this guy who showed up calls me screaming profanities at me. Completely unhinged. They told me he has been with the company for years and zero problems. I can't believe that. My wife & I fear he will show up again with something bad happening. I had to call so many times because of issues, I finally canceled service. My grass is half dead now, and I was paying them to mow the grass, trim bushes weekly and fertilize the yard and to service the sprinkler system once a month. They would mow the grass and trim the brushes but they never checked the sprinkler system. I don't believe the fertilizer the yard because it's half dead now. They told me I needed to replace all the heads, I was charged to replace all of them and they only did the ones in the back yard. They charged me to replace 20, I only have 17 total. They only did 10 in the backyard. I emailed Brian 3 times to have him call me to discuss but he didn't respond or call. I feel I was ripped off. I would not recommend AMS landscaping to anyone. read more

Should be a ZERO rating! They are expensive and do a lousy job. Couldn't believe what they charged the last time and didn't do much at all. Three large plants not trimmed at all. I asked them to let me know what their schedule was so I'd know when they were to arrive but they didn't do that. Instead they just showed up and I'd just gotten out of the shower so couldn't go out to check on their work. I am a disabled woman veteran, and I want to take a moment to thank the owner for the care and concern I receive from his workers. Where I live there's a small park directly across the street with several large trees that shed leaves all year. The leaves blow directly across into me and the neighbor's driveway and front yard. We all have cactus no trees. The fallen leaves make it difficult to keep that area clean. I would blow the leaves twice a week, but the leaves are back the next day. For a while now the landscapers have begun blowing the leaves off my area when they clean the park. The timing is so amazing because lately I have not been able to do much without being in pain. So, for me this is a huge blessing, and I ask God to bless them every time. I just want to say thank you and God bless you and your workers for the blessings you give. Do NOT use this company!!!! They grossly overcharge you and are completely incompetent. We had monthly drip checks and had the City of Phoenix come to our home last week for excessive water use. Turns out the drops were running over 30 min and flooding yard and multiple drips broke. Whenever I called to share an issue, they would not do what was requested and I had to call multiple times. If you want your yard done right the first time, or the second time USE SOMEONE ELSE. Browsed through Yelp for lawn care companies and came across AMS Landscaping. Their process was pretty simple, you get a thorough quote but don't expect everything you got quoted to be done the first time around. Everything is online and you have to have a debit or credit card on file. I had scheduled for lawn service that consisted of things such as mowing and edging, trimming of plants/bushes, and of course the property was to be blown to remove debris. SO WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS, the lawn was mowed but it was in every other direction and shape and size! It was not a clean even cut!? Edging was so messed up I think they did it with their eyes closed. And with the blowing away of the debris, oh yeah all the debris from the front yard was blown into my backyard so guess who had to clean up that mess? I DID!!! I contacted them back via email several times because they never pick up the phone and the lady replied to me back via email and says she will have someone come back and 'fix it', well of course you can't fix everything that's been broken right. So, two young guys come to the house to try to 'fix' the damage. They were gonna start on the yard as soon as they got there but I went out there to tell them what I disliked and what wasn't done right. One of them snickered and I already knew this was gonna be another unprofessional job. I just went back inside. They mowed the yard and left. My husband and I were using these guys for years but they just lost us as customers. Scheduling and getting yard clean ups has never been a problem (but more on that later), however, scheduling pre-emergent has been challenging to say the least. There has not been a single time where we haven't had to follow up with them to get a date as to when we can expect pre-emergent to be applied since it isn't done the same day as clean up. This most recent time was a whole different story. We contacted AMS on Nov 30th for yard clean up and pre-emergent. On December 3rd, they completed the clean-up but we still had no date for the pre-emergent. Over the next THREE WEEKS we sent countless emails requesting a date when we could expect the pre-emergent to be done and each time the response was our email being forwarded to Brian, the guy who handles pre-emergent. During this time a second new account was created two times requesting a credit card to be provided despite us being customers for years. Finally three weeks later we received an email saying they "forgot" that Brian was on vacation. Oddly enough Brian called the very next day saying he would be coming out... this after we told them numerous times that we are done with them and anything on the books was to be cancelled. Stringing us along for three weeks was just too much. As for the quality of their work... they have a guarantee with their pre-emergent. You'll likely be calling them back again as it has been hit or miss. Yard clean up is also hit or miss. Sometimes they'll be in your yard for 30-45 minutes or sometimes 2 hours like they were this last month (despite charging the same amount). And if you're lucky, they'll leave a pile in the corner of your yard for you to clean up once they're done and an entire side section of your yard untouched. read more

Really good overall experience. AMS probably the cheapest option, but their quality was great and Brian's willingness to help me understand everything was amazing. Had them do a somewhat intensive irrigation repair and lawn leveling job. We had some miscommunication on whether full yard seeding was involved in the quote, but Brian was willing to work with me on price in return. Correspondence with Eli started off well, and I really wish I could have dealt with him only because I'm sure this would have never ended up where it did. I was passed on to Heather to schedule an appointment and had initially asked for Thursday or Friday because I had more flexibility those days. I received an email Monday asking advising they had availability 9am-11am and if I could do that. I responded and said it was going to be tight and needed to leave at 11am for an appointment. I nearly called off the visit for Tuesday all together because I didn't receive confirmation of the appointment until that morning (after what I went through I really wish I had). Heather advised me they could work with my regarding having to leave at 11am. At around 11am Tuesday, I receive a call from George that he is going to be another 15 minutes and kept asking me to wait.. I explained I had to go to an appointment (and already told Heather this) and they charge me for no shows. I advised George it just wasn't going to work out and to not bother showing up because the whole point was to come up with a plan together. George insisted he was going to come by regardless (against my wishes I might add) and draft up a plan without me there? I'm sorry but that's pretty disturbing. George also wouldn't let me off the phone, I had to hang up on him because he wasn't getting the hint. I found out later that day George did show up to my property - that is so not ok, I've honestly been fuming since this incident. To add insult to injury, George texts me asking for my business saying he will give me a 15% discount, yet the special on Yelp was for 20% off.. so he thinks I wouldn't clue into this? The whole experience was just wrong all around. Later that day I got another e-mail from Heather asking to reschedule for Thursday (of course, now they want to give me the day I asked for). But after my experience with George? Nope and nope.. I responded with my frustration and experience of the whole incident and no one ever got back to me with so much as a sorry. Our last couple months of weekends had been dedicated to our sons soccer season and with the rain we'd had here in the valley, our year was totally overrun by weeds. We called AMS after seeing a referral on a neighborhood SwipSwap site. They were very friendly and accommodating to make the appointment with. Update: I was contacted by the office and they were eager to "make it right". I was given a couple of options to rectify the situation. I chose a refund. I do appreciate their willingness to fix things. Original post: I had high hopes about this business after reviewing the photos of yard clean ups. Unfortunately, I feel I wasted my money as I've done the same level of work myself using my own weedwacker and store bought weed killer. The first time I used them was on March 17th. The quote process and scheduling is pretty easy and painless so no issues there. You also don't need to be present as long as they have access to the area to be work on. This is both good and bad...more on that later. The agreement was for yard clean up and pre-emergent for future weed control. None of the weeds were actually removed except for especially large stalks. They simply treated them with weed killer. The issue is the yard still had weeds and patches of wild grass throughout but they are all just shriveled and dead. This is nearly as unsightly as before. There were many fallen leaves and twigs remaining because little care and attention were given to that. None of my trees were trimmed. The pre-emergent was never done. They did not charge me for it however, due to the decent amount of rain this spring, I had to call them back for another round a little more than a month later The next time they were out was May 5th. Same deal. No actual weed or wild grass removal, no tree trimming and no pre-emergent. This time there was a small hole in a side window. I'm certain this is from the weedwacker kicking up rocks. That's the downside of not being present while the work is done. You have no way to prove the damage wasn't there before or after they were on the property. AMS is the worst landscaping business we've ever had. Leaves & weeds were left in the yard after the service. The hedges were poorly trimmed. Two bushes were damaged as a result of poor trimming. I asked AMS to schedule a "do over" service. They scheduled the "do-over" and when they showed up to correct what had not been done or had been done poorly, I talked with Pedro about the areas that we were concerned about. After a brief conversation with Pedro, he said I was "disrespectful" and left. The yard is a mess. read more

I've used them for years. However, they are not good now. I called two weeks before last scheduled appointment. They sent a quote. But, scheduled two weeks later. (Ofcourse weeds are gonna grow while you wait). They came to a house, decided it was too much work by one hour. They decided not to do any work, and rescheduled for one week later while raising the price from 350 to 500. I did not complain at this point as their initial quote is just an estimate. I noted some concern, that they should have atleast started the job, or considered that weeds grow when it rains. But, I was willing to let it slide. A week later, during rescheduled appearance. Kyle came to my house and said the gate was locked. (It was NOT LOCKED, though I was not 100% certain at the time) I was at work at a meeting, they couldn't wait 10 minutes to talk to me on they phone (even though they also had the whole front yard to do as well). They forced a reschedule again. I am pissed at this point as I need my yard cleaned up before it gets worse. This was their second chance so I left the first version of the review at this point. Their office then said they would come back and fix it by the end of the day. I took off work to ensure gate was open (And it was the whole time). Then, after saying they would fix it, they recscinded their offer and that they weren't going to come and clean up my yard because of the negative review I had written (I had already given them 2 chances, and I would have retracted it if they made it right), and because I made their employee feel uncomfortable. (I did not call him anything derogatory). It was on the phone and it was one sentence paraphrased below with curse words not in shown. "Bugger off, this is bloody ridiculous" After they cancelled working on my yard twice due to their own incompetence. I then hung up, because in my opinion their worker was just trying to be lazy. I then sent an email to their management which obviously did not help as we are here. read more

DO NOT USE THESE GUYS! Winter reseeding is so simple, yet they managed to make it a nightmare. The crew mistakenly set up my drip system to run 5 times a day for a week, along with the sprinkler system and now my drip system won't stop dripping water. I will likely lose some of my plants. When I realized the issue I reached out to them and they sent a crew to take a look and they confirmed that they mistakenly set up my Zone 1 (drip) along with the rest of my sprinklers and that now a Valve was not functioning correctly. I followed up for weeks and was passed on from one person to the next. Finally heard from a manager who was so rude! They don't care about customer service and do nothing to make it right. I will make sure to let everyone know never to use AMS Landscaping. read more

UPDATE: They returned today and did the remaining two aloe plants and also indicated we'd get a credit for today's service. I will say the office staff provides excellent customer service. However, as mentioned in my original review, the aloes were once again trimmed in a manner that left a mess and didn't give the impression they tried in any way to make them look nice in the process. I also have plants extending above my wall that I don't think have been trimmed a single time since hiring AMS for our routine care. Pictures attached. Original Review: After multiple issues with AMS and giving them the benefit of the doubt, I'm now very close to canceling our bi weekly services. Early on it looked like nothing was being trimmed... just a quick blow and mow. I inquired about this after witnessing a 20 minute (maybe less) visit in which the crew was unaware I was working from my home office that day. The next service, the bushes were trimmed and edging completed as requested. Since then, it's been emails to AMS at least monthly to ask about weed control, trimming, and care for our aloes and agaves. More often than not, the crew looks to just blow and mow. When we do inquire about other services, they eventually do them but they do a poor job. They trimmed some of our aloes the back but left chopped off pieces strewn about and basically removed the entire middle section of one (dead parts apparently... but they didn't even attempt to trim it in a way that looked nice). Because other aloes were not done as expected during bi weekly visits, I asked for a quote for them to be handled separate from our routine service. They came and removed some agave off shoots in the front, but the largest, most grassy and weeded, aloes in the back are still untouched..... despite me sending pictures and asking why they weren't handled. I was told the info would be shared with the crew arriving today for our scheduled service. The crew came today, and again, these aloes were untouched (and if I'm being honest, we have other plants that could use a trim I haven't even mentioned to AMS yet because I wanted the aloes addressed first) . The crew today was here maybe 30 minutes and did a blow and mow. They left before I could flag anyone down and verify all work was done as expected (I'm home on maternity leave with a newborn and was preoccupied at the time they wrapped up.... but I didn't expect them to leave so fast either). We were charged extra this month for the 'clean up' pruning of the agaves and aloes, but I'm still trying to figure out what the heck we're paying for. They did half that job and we're constantly sending emails to chase the crew down about services missed during regular maintenance. We also had a no show last month and no one informed us of the situation until we reached out. Not the first time, and as we lock our dogs up all day on service dates, it's very inconvenient when no one shows as expected. Prices are already a little high for routine maintenance and I don't even feel we're getting our money's worth there...let alone paying extra this month for services that were half completed. I don't mind paying more for good and consistent service, but that's not what we've experienced month after month with this company read more

Although I was hesitant at first because the previous two reviews gave me pause, I decided to give AMS a chance because of the preponderance of good reviewers prior to these two. The majority of reviewers were correct: Eli is fast with correspondence, and, unlike his competition, requested pictures in the first message rather than going back and forth several times before asking for pictures. I was provided an accurate estimate based on the pictures (and no hidden charges although I did ask for an on-the-spot estimate for additional work). The hand-off to Melissa for scheduling was seamless, and I don't have a problem with having my credit card on file: they are, after all, a business and deserve to have some assurance that they will be paid for their labor. With next day scheduling, I was given a general estimated arrival time and assurances that I didn't need to be home. When I indicated that I wanted to be present for the first visit, Melissa listened: the team showed up promptly at noon (the estimated time). The work was completed thoroughly and professionally. If there is a problem with invoicing, I'll update this review to reflect that. At this time, though, I'm over-the-moon happy with how quick and painless the process was...for me. I would like to first start off by saying our yard was a complete disaster and it has made a complete transformation after AMS Landscaping came to work their magic! We moved into our house in January and we haven't done much besides water the plants since. They were all over grown and the yard was starting to look really bad....yes we were "those neighbors" we called Eli the owner and he said no problem we will get people over there next week. He was so professional and helpful for someone that's never owned their own house I didn't even know where to start. He walked us through al of it and asked us what we wanted. Well they exceeded all of our expectations! Our house looks phenomenal! The neighbors are driving by and envying our new yard! I used this company once in April and refrained from leaving this review because the actual guys who came out were wonderful and very kind. However, after using another company and seeing the quality of work for a comparative rate, I have to say I'm very disappointed in my experience with AMS landscaping. While the guys who came out were great, the work was subpar. Leaves were haphazardly blown into corners and never collected, bushes were trimmed unevenly, patches of grass growing in the gravel and around plants were left, weeds were only trimmed and they claimed they sprayed them but the weeds immediately came back. In a pinch this company was alright, but I can't say I will use them again. For almost $400 the quality should have been better. read more

Absolutely the WORST service. They never complete the service (leave weeds, skip trees, etc), blow rocks and debris into our neighbors yard, have broken 2 sprinklers and a light, left massive holes in the yard after a sprinkler install have charged us extra for services we did not ask for/consent to and in one case told them not to perform. They are more than happy to try to sell me pre-emergent though. Do not trust them with credit card information - they will abuse it. This service attempted to charge us more than double their quote to remove weeds and trim one tree at our house less than a week before we are renting it. They had ample evidence and descriptions of the project by way of numerous photos and written tasks to base their quote, but still tried to pull a bait-and-switch when they arrived at the house. Despite our desperation to have the work done, charging more than double a quote supported by ample evidence is not a reasonable variation of pricing according to their terms nor the law, so we will not be using this service now nor in the future. read more

Kim is definitely the RUDEST customer service person I have had to deal with in a long time. When I did finally get her on the phone she kept interrupting, speaking over me, and hung up to have the last word. We asked to adjust our irrigation and they pulled out things they should not have and our trees are suffering because of it. They crews are decent for the most part except them turning off all water and saying the trees wouldn't be effected, obviously they didn't know what they were doing. But Kim is the icing on a cardboard cake...I cannot believe that she is in charge of customer service. Too many landscaping services in Phoenix to choose from, take your money elsewhere!!! read more

I used AMS 10 years ago and they were bad then. I thought maybe they'd gotten better since they were still in business and I I gave them another shot. They're still bad. All they do is blow leaves against the back fence. If anything more than running a leaf blower is required they don't do it. They'd charge me $150 to do my yard and when they did not do the work they'd offer a $50 discount. So I'd still pay $100 for nothing to get done. I spent $700 replanting everything that died during the couple months that I used them. read more

We have been using ASM for a few months, and now I have three dead bushes. They charged use more than the estimate for monthly service, did not check the irrigation (which I both requested and is supposed to be a normal part of the service). So what I am paying for? They stop in, use a leaf blower for a few minutes, then leave. The did not pull any weeds, they just sprayed. A week after spraying, more weeds. When I talked to them about this, their response was that the weed would come back... unless I got a special weed treatment that would cost $200.00. So I'm paying for monthly weed control that doesn't remove or control weeds. I wanted to landscape my new property in Fall, but since my plants are dying (although the weeds are doing great) I can't imagine going forward with my plans with this company. read more

We originally had AMS come out for a major cleanup and to spray pre emergent. Since then, we have been on a monthly schedule for regular maintenance. I'd highly recommend the pre emergent to anyone. We've been very impressed with how few weeds come up now, especially after the heavy rains we got this spring. I also really like how well they communicate. They always send a notification on when they are coming out. After the service they provide details on what sections of the yard were done, what chemicals were applied, etc. Whenever I have questions Melissa is always quick to respond and is very helpful. The quality of service has also been great in our experience. Our shrubs always look great and they leave the yard very clean when they are done. read more

Received a quote from them to blow my yard with minimal leaves on the ground from 2 trees, trim 5 small brushes, and 2 small palms trees. I have fake grass and pavers through all my back yard. I was quoted $195 for excessive cleaning and $95 for the cleaning so $290 for first time cleaning. That's crazy. I talked with another companies that quote $100 for the clean up. When I asked the office why the quote was so high they just said because it was going to take them so many hours to clean up. The company I hired did it in 35mins and perfectly. From my experience, I don't know how anyone can afford AMS. I recently moved into a house where the grass is healthy, but it had not been mowed in quite some time. It was probably about 9-12 inches in height. Eli from AMS gave me a quote of $280 for an initial cleanup. Thinking that was way too steep, I asked how much he would charge to simply mow the grass - no trimming or weed control. Eli responded, "There was very little trimming at your property. I included it but it would not affect the price to take it away." So, in other words: He wanted $280 to mow my tiny lawn. TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY DOLLARS. To mow a lawn. The only way that is even remotely justified is if he were going to come over and manually trim every blade with a pair of scissors. Anyway, I got in touch with a gentleman over at Brandon's Landscaping. He was at my house within an hour of my phone call. He charged me $50 to mow both the front and back lawn, kill the weeds and re-mulch. It took him and his partner about an hour for the entire service. My lawn looks amazing, and I'm not poor as a result. read more

Eli was very prompt and nice, too bad he was not the workers who came to my house. Being in a rental property, I needed my back yard cleaned up. This was half done. The trees that they would cut were cut only on one side. The weeds that they would cut and spray with weed killer, are already sprouting back up ALL over the yard. I could have bought a weed wacker for the price I paid. Overall, I will not be calling them again to redo what should have been done already. The team from AMS come out last Friday (July 10) to work on my patio. My patio was a dark and foreboding wasteland of weeds, dead plants, and a very thorny vine that was eager to attack if you looked at it. Supervisor Ryan came out the preceding week to talk about the different types of plant life, what would work well for my yard based upon size, light exposure, and how nice the plants would look. He also took in to my considerations of low leaf litter and nothing that would stab me without a reason. The following week I arrived home to my own backyard oasis. The floral choices are pretty, smell nice, and multipurpose (aloe, lavender, rosemary, and a miniature citrus tree to name a few.) Once again, I can't fully express how happy I am with the work. Melissa was a pleasure to set up the initial quote/estimate. They use an email service to confirm the appt and Chris provided a very reasonable quote that I signed up about 5 min after he left. He had already emailed me the estimate by the time he was in his truck and leaving. They came for the initial clean up and to remove some plants I requested to be taken out and gave me a heads up on two irrigation drips that had a leak. The next day after that initial clean up and leak Chris again called right after that to let me know he will have his irrigation team out to check out the leaks for an estimate and next day had an email for that set up next week.
