Sensing that something was up and I was about to be fleeced, I searched around Ajax for different mechanic shops. I settled on Master Mechanic in Ajax because the customer service was incredibly professional, friendly and caring. We spent time over the phone going through all the suggested service options that my dealership insisted I needed, then we booked an appointment. The day of the appointment, I was greeted in the morning with a cheery smile from the front desk staff, they offered coffee and immediately took my car in for service. It turns out that I actually didn't need to go broke, I just needed an oil change. Waiting in their very clean and well lit waiting room, it was quiet and had a nice relaxing atmosphere. However I didn't stay there very long as my car was serviced and returned to me within 40 minutes. It turns out that the winning formula is friendly and speedy service backed by good costs. I will be returning.

A loose oil plug, which could have been disastrous if left unnoticed, has cost me much more $ than if I would have taken it to the dealership. My advice to this shop, spend less time on multi point inspection looking for problems that don't exist and concentrate on the purpose a vehicle is in your shop. I've paid too much for my vehicle to trust it to this grade of shop. BUYER BEWARE!

Maybe it was a mistake, but the response was to refund my credit card for the service?? It's not a refund if there was no service performed. I called the last shop to verify the make an model of the filter that they had installed and it's the one still installed (ACDelco). I called Midas and asked what filter they had installed and their records showed Purolator. I wanted more than a refund this is ridiculous, and possibly fraudulent. If it was a mistake then the fact that they overbook so much that this can happen is ridiculous. I have and sent them the pictures clearly showing this is not a new filter, but I got a refund on services not provided.

I went in and confirmed in person and mentioned I had selected the "inspection" option on my appointment, and that I wanted to "wait for my vehicle". When I dropped it off they told me they couldn't do it while I waited (so it took ALL DAY). I had my tires swapped and they didn't do the inspection. When I asked about it they said to bring it back in a few weeks when it was less busy. When I called back to arrange, the lady on the phone was only interested in telling me they don't do inspections, even though it had been acknowledged by management already. She finally conceded and I was given a time to come. When I arrived I couldn't even get on the lot it was so packed, even though they told me to come at that time. While I was parked on the side of Danforth with my hazards on, waiting, the same lady came out to talk to me, so I said "I'd rather not argue with you" as I had no interest in going over it again. She then walked back to the lot and audibly called me an asshole to the manager, who was moving cars. When I confronted him about it he said he'd "talk to her". I asked for an apology and was told "I can't make another adult apologize". That goes for employees too I guess. He said he would call me back about the inspection and didn't. Wow is all I can say. Zero stars.

Approximately 27 MONTHS LATER, I was advised that the same exhaust component needed to be replaced AGAIN. In my opinion, that is an unacceptable lifespan for a repair of this nature and raises serious questions about the quality of the part supplied, the installation, or the original repair. I retained the invoice and photographs and subsequently examined the components on the vehicle. Rather than reassuring me, what I found left me with MORE questions about exactly what was installed in 2024 and why I was facing the same repair again barely two years later. This is what concerns me most: customers generally cannot crawl underneath their vehicles and verify expensive repairs themselves. We PAY professional mechanics because we TRUST them to install the parts we paid for and perform the work competently. After this experience, that trust is gone. I brought my concerns directly to Frank, the Service Manager (Habib the owner refused to speak with me). Frank refused to answer any of my questions and did not provide an explanation. My advice to other motorists is simple: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. KEEP YOUR INVOICES. PHOTOGRAPH THE PARTS. ASK TO SEE WHAT WAS REMOVED. GET A SECOND OPINION. Every vehicle year, model and trim has a manufacturer recommended tire size and the rubber is priced accordingly. I won't bore you with name brand, tread design and seasonal properties but these factors also changed the cost formula. Generally speaking, the more rubber that's used to make your tire, the higher the cost. There was a discount of $130 on the set of four. Add the $16 ($4 each) tire levy and $79.96 ($19.99 each) for mounting & balancing. Wow! $307 per tire when all is factored in? Yes! If I'm fortunate, I won't have to do this again for the rated 100,000 km. Why only 4 stars? Costco Tire Centre didn't have the tires in stock so it was ordered. The tires arrived and they didn't phone me at all. I happened to call 2 days after the shipment arrived and then waited another 2 days for an appointment. White knuckle time!!
