Nathan showed up right on time and was wearing a mask and gloves. He was incredibly knowledgeable about different types of locks and explained to me a little about the particular lock I had and why a certain key would work better than another kind. He was very transparent about the cost difference (which was only a couple of dollars) and in no way tried to upsell me. Nathan worked quickly and even explored additional security options for my door. When he gave me the final price (which included the better keys and the additional security lock), I was shocked that it was about 1/5 of the price of the last company that changed my locks. I was so pleasantly surprised that I asked again to make sure he was including all of the parts and labor. In the future, I will only use A1A for my locksmith needs. OK - I really didn't believe all these yelp reviews until my own experience. This guy is nothing short of magical. I called him on a Sunday about a jammed door lock. He said he could be at my place in 15 minutes or so. I hung up the phone checked a few emails and then heard the doorbell ring - was this a joke? Nathan is an AMAZING locksmith and an even better person. Nathan answered every question I had in regards to getting new locks for my house, and this was even before I hired him. When I did, he was early and the work he did was impeccable. He even showed me how to reset my garage door opener so I didn't have to call a garage place separately. What impressed me the most about Nathan and easily made me a loyal customer of his, was when my wife locked herself out of our house with our toddler and newborn kids inside. I called Nathan and he dropped everything and rushed over to help, giving me constant updates as to how far away he was. My wife ended up getting into the house, and when I called Nathan to let him know he was genuinely happy and relieved. I don't know many, if any other locksmiths that would go to the lengths that Nathan goes to help. First off I have to say that I rarely write reviews except if the service is beyond terrible or beyond exceptional. And Nathan is the BEST. Not only is he very professional but he is super kind and went far beyond what he needed to do. I called him, along with another highly rated yelp locksmith, for a quote to come look at a door with a broken lock. He quoted half the price of the other guy so I went with him. He was on time and after looking at the lock he told me it just needed a new latch. Instead of ordering it himself and charging me three times as much to do so, or telling me that the whole lock needed to be replaced and charging me six times as much to do so, he spent the time to make several phone calls to help find the correct latch and eventually found it for me to order on amazon for $6 (SIX dollars) and told me to call him to come back when it arrived so he could install it. After it arrived he did exactly that, and also fixed THREE other locks in the house that were malfunctioning all for less than the price he originally quoted me for over the phone for the ONE lock. All in all he made three trips and went far beyond my expectations. We now will only use Nathan for any lock/door issues we have and will adamantly refer friends to him as well. Nathan was great: courteous, prompt, inexpensive, great service, and great work! My key for my 2003 Honda Accord was having trouble sliding all the way into the ignition, sometimes taking as long as 20 minutes for me to get it to work. So, for the last week I was just leaving my key in the ignition and my car doors unlocked, deciding to place my faith in humanity and the power of prayer that my car wouldn't be stolen. I was afraid it was the ignition itself but since my key was also sticky in the door I decided to try replacing the key first. I bought two keys online then called around to various local businesses to get quotes, A1A was the cheapest by far. Not only that, Nathan was very accommodating to my hectic schedule and met me on a Sunday, when most businesses are closed. He cut and coded a sample key first, to make sure it would work, which it did! It slid in perfectly meaning I didn't have to replace my ignition, yay!!! I was extremely happy with the service provided by Nathan upon my move in to my new place in Sherman oaks. When I asked him ahead of time about the possibility of a smart lock on one of my doors, he was very candid about it stating that he could easily install it, but his company much like every other locksmith charges a 2-3x markup for the cost of such an item, and recommended I order it from Amazon prime instead, which I did, likely saving $200. How refreshingly honest! Also- after he changed five locks for me, he came back a week later with no charge because I (by my own fault) had forgotten to ask him to clip a lock which we had no key for, during his original service call. He could have easily asked me for his $35 "coming out" fee, but preferred to build rapport with someone who'll now be his client for as long as I live in Sherman oaks!
