I needed to get two pre-programmed transponder key blanks cut to match my original key for a replacement computer going into my car. I made an inquiry on Yelp to get quotes from local locksmiths but none of them wanted to help, except for one that wanted a lot of money to cut the blanks. I don't know if they are all incompetent so are afraid to cut transponder keys wrong or if they just don't like the idea that they can't sell me a couple transponder key for $120 each so don't want to help. We keep hearing that we should support small businesses but when I tried to these locksmiths couldn't be bothered to help me. Seems kind of stupid to turn away business because it isn't big enough but then sit there doing nothing and making no money at all while waiting for the big jobs. I was almost ready to give up but checked reviews on Yelp one more time and came across Able Lock and Key. A couple of the reviews said they will cut blank keys that you bring to them so I went to see them. When i walked in I was greeted by a locksmith behind the counter. I explained my situation and asked if they could cut my blanks to match my original key. Without hesitation he replied "We can cut them". I asked for a price and he inquired with the owner who quoted a reasonable price which included a mechanical key. I wasn't sure what the mechanical key would be good for but I soon found out. The locksmith asked for the year, make, and model of car. Then he and the owner looked up some info in a book to cut the keys. Since the transponder key blanks were pre-programmed to the replacement computer, if they got cut wrong I would be out of luck. So what the locksmith did was cut the mechanical key to match my original key. He then asked me to take the mechanical key and test it in my door and ignition to verify that it worked, which it did, perfectly. Once I verified the mechanical key worked the locksmith said he now knows he can cut my two transponder blanks and they will work, and he was absolutely right. Both of the transponder blanks he cut worked perfectly the first time. A few years ago I had a couple keys made to match my original by a different locksmith company and it took two locksmiths almost 30 minutes to get them to work. They had to keep going back and forth between the shop and my car repeatedly filing and grinding them to get them to work and not stick. This was not the case at Able Lock and Key. The locksmith was an absolute expert and the keys he cut worked perfectly the first time. I am so glad I came across Able Lock and Key. They were willing to help when other locksmiths wouldn't, charged a reasonable price, and did the job with expert precision and accuracy. Chuck is the best!! He does so much in the community I can't even begin to tell you all he has done over the years. By far he is the best price in the county and his work is second to none. Been using him for a couple years now and always shows up on time does a great job I have never had to have him redo stuff gets it right the first time. I would give more stars if it would let me. Called Chuck to come and assess my front door problem. He spent a good half hour, pulling the handle off the door, spotting the problem and trying out a replacement in his truck. When that didn't work out, he fixed up the old one as best as he could and reinstalled it. He then gave me contacts to shop the new hardware and told me to call him when I was ready to have it installed. When I asked him how much I owed him, he said no charge! I have had many problems with other locksmiths in the past, so I went to yelp to find a good one for my new business locks that needed to be re-keyed. Chuck came out the same day and did a great job!
