The tone of the conversation made it feel like I was being treated as dishonest just for asking about pricing. She then mentioned that one person only received $8 for a catalytic converter, which did not sound serious or helpful when someone is trying to get legitimate information. Most catalytic converter buyers will at least provide a general estimate using the serial number or photos. Instead, the conversation felt dismissive and unprofessional from the start. Customer inquiries should be handled respectfully and clearly, especially when someone is simply asking how your buying process works.

Now the full story: I was in the market for a used Ionic 5, and I first drove one at Echo Park Automotive in Cary, NC. However, when my husband and I were ready to buy, they didn't have one, so I went to someone else (who, for the time being will remain nameless because we're still in the midst of a disagreement). The car came with an adapter, which I thought was for the Ionic so that I could use it with a Tesla supercharger, but it turned out it was the wrong part. It was for a Tesla to use other types of chargers - so wrong way around. Turns out there was no aftermarket source for them, so I was left with either throwing it away (super wasteful) or giving it to someone who could use it. I was determined NOT to take it back to the arseholes that I bought the car from, so I took it to Echo Park with the intention of just giving it to them for someone who buys a Tesla from them so the part wouldn't go to waste. When I explained the situation to Tyler, he took my number and told me that they would order the right part for me and call me when it came in. WHAT?????!!!!! I didn't even buy a car from them and they're offering to help me with a $250 part????? WOAH! Needless to say; next time I need a car, I'll wait a month so I can buy my car of choice from these guys.
