Kurt was professional, no nonsense, and experienced. He did what he said he would do. When he said he would do it.

Independent Remodeling - Remodeled kitchen looks awesome!

    Independent Remodeling

Jim and his team at Independent Remodeling did an amazing job on our first-floor renovation,…read moreexceeding our expectations. From the start, Jim was responsive and easy to work with. He has great ideas and isn't afraid to tell you if something you want to do isn't necessarily worth the expense (which we very much appreciated). They delivered high-quality work that leveraged their knowledge and expertise to ensure our new space was functional and beautiful. Some things you look for in a general contractor and rarely find are the ability to stay close to budget and timelines, and Jim and his team did both of these! Jim does a thorough of a job putting designs/estimates together, and the only change order we had (that wasn't scope creep on our part) was for some poor electrical a previous owner did that Jim couldn't have anticipated. In addition, Jim keeps your project moving. We rarely went two days without someone at the house making progress on our project; there were no extended delays due to materials or labor issues. Jim and his team also excel at problem solving. Every project has hiccups along the way, but every issue is tackled and Jim won't stop until the solution works for you. As an example, we were having trouble matching the color of some new hardwood floors to older, existing floors in the house. He helped us put down 16 stain samples and promised we would keep trying until we got it right (and we finally did!). It was very clear our happiness was extremely important to him. If you are looking for a contractor who is honest, knowledgeable, responsive, efficient, affordable, and fun to work with, Independent Remodeling is who you should work with. It's hard to find a company you would want to use a second time, but Jim will be the first person we call for future projects in our house, and who we will recommend to friends and family if they are looking to complete a project in their home.

Jim and his team at Independent Remodeling were fantastic to work with and we love the results…read more Jim was flexible and worked with our schedule to help us put together what we needed in our basement. He helped provide advice and answered questions quickly throughout the process. Our project was completed on time and within budget. His staff was very friendly and easy to work with as well. Very professional throughout the experience. I would definitely recommend his services for anyone looking into a similar project.

Requested a consultation. Got scare tactics and a high estimate…read more My project was to replace a main water valve and change the cartridge and/or valve in my shower. 1st red flag: they proposed removing tile from my shower as part of "discovery demolition". Then told me there's a good chance the entire wall of tile would need to be removed/replaced, and maybe the connecting wall.. oh and the way the ceiling joined the wall it would probably need to be replaced. My 2 other consultations both proposed accessing the shower from the back, where there's only drywall to cut through. And the technician i ended up hiring barely touched the tiles. (Yes there's always a risk that you open up a wall and find something alarming, but come on!) 2nd red flag: The estimate they gave me for the shower was 50% more than the estimates i got from my other 2 consultations. And certain materials would be "additional costs". (Even their main valve replacement estimate was 40% higher than the others i received... even though the proposed action was the same) Ultimately, I wanted a repair, but they wanted to remodel. ***************** Edit: Whelp guess I gotta update my review to remove a star and to respond to the owner and clear things up myself. 1. I never hired this company. I stopped after the free consultation because, as stated above, they gave me the worst estimate. 2. Idk who the owner is trying to get a permit from since i don't live in a condo/ hoa and, again, I never hired them to do work. 3. Ok I admit i didn't point out the possible access from the back.. we just walked past it a bunch since it's right outside the bathroom door. And i didn't really point it out to the other people I got consulted from.. I asked if we could avoid ripping out tiles and they said "we always try to go in from the back because it costs less. We'd only take off tiles if needed AFTER looking from the back" 4. I don't have a leaking shower pan. That must be project details from a different customer who isn't talking to you.
