I've never had a worse roadside assistance experience. I was left stranded for over 12 hours waiting for help that never came. I called multiple times for updates and was either given no useful information or told they couldn't help. At one point, the call simply ended without any resolution. When you're stuck on the side of the road, you expect the service you're paying for to show up. That didn't happen here. If you're considering AAA for reliability or peace of mind, I would strongly reconsider. My experience was the opposite. read more

Love AAA for most things, but DO NOT use their Travel Department. My sister and I planned a 3-week trip to visit a sick relative overseas. Within the 1st week, we had a tragedy in our family with the loss of my sister's son back home. Our immediate departure from Europe required AAA's help to rebook our flights. Once back in the states and all family services done, I reached out to our travel agent Tobi G. at this location to resolve the travel costs that will not have been incurred due to not staying the extra 2-weeks. NOT ONE RESPONSE! Multiple phone calls and emails without ONE response. I even left her messages to make sure she was OK. I called this branch to talk to a supervisor about this. No response. We had insurance for this trip. What I recently discovered is that if you go past a certain number of days you can not dispute or file a claim. Well, we filed a claim within that time frame, but without a response, for multiple weeks, the deadline came and went. I am told now there is nothing more to do. VERY frustrating. My family has paid for the roadside assistance option for over 10 years without needing to use it. Yesterday was the first time in Detroit. Total system failure. The call was placed at 4pm and by 8:30pm we just cancelled the request and found alternate transportation home. What a waste. Total system failure. Before a long roadtrip I visited a couple AAA offices to grab some maps for the drive down. This was the second location I stopped at which was was referred to me by the 13 mile AAA location (which is not a travel agent and therefore didn't have all the maps I wanted). This location is huge and though I didn't spend more than a minute inside I can say it was very clean and the girl at the counter was very nice. I requested a couple maps and I was on my way but if I have a need to visit AAA again I would make this the first location I visit. I'd be curious how their travel agent stacks up to others also. read more

Straight trash. 1. Assessed the wrong house and tried to charge me insurance on a house that was seven doors down. Only caught it after I repeatedly told the representative that I didn't have a hot tub. 2. Was very unhelpful and non responsive when I needed to file a claim. Took 4-5 days to get a hold of someone. Claim was paid out quickly but it was stressful to wait to hear from them. 3. Raised my car insurance rates by 30 percent in one period for filing a claim despite not being a fault. 4. Gave me a home insurance quote and then raised it by hundreds of dollars when I went to bind the policy. When I inquired they were rude and blamed me for giving incorrect details (which was not even true) Due to this I switched to other providers. Shop elsewhere for better rates. read more

Eek! Me thinks not is right. I've never dealt with a business that adds less value than this one. I solicited the services of a full service agent for the oversight, as I had just recently moved from Northville to Birmingham. I figured this might make sense from the standpoint that I need a one stop shop to get my insurance affairs in order, right? Wrong! I just got renewals for an apartment I vacated 6 months ago, so I've been unnecessarily paying insurance on a non-existent dwelling. They could have added value by completing the transaction in a seamless manner or by calling to remind me of this at the time my home owner's policy went into effect. Again, it was a crazy time for me in that I was buying a house, closing, moving, changing addresses, etc., etc. A good agent would have ensured my insurance affairs were properly in order. To add another story,, I uncovered the fact that they hadn't switched over my auto policy to my correct Birmingham address. I just avoided this agency altogether and called the 800 number where I talked to somebody knowledgeable. We did the transfer and requested a insurance policy checkup. She advised that I was paying for medical insurance in the policy that I might get through my employer- turned out it was a huge savings. My full service agent didn't do this, so I had to figure it out on my own by asking the right questions. Thanks for nothing, Bill Rankin! read more

It feels a little bit like doing secretary of state business in here. You enter the building, and are sort of triaged by the clerk at the front desk. When you state your business, you are asked to sit down in a waiting area, and then are eventually called up and sent along to the desk of the person who'll assist you. There were a surprising number of older people there planning road trips. This entailed the clerk using a Map-Quest like program to plan someone's route. It was kind of silly. People also come here to pay their AAA bill in person (even sillier). You can get maps. You can get passport photos. It took a little longer than I'd hoped to meet with someone, and the service alternated between friendly and secretary of state-ish. AAA is wonderful though, so I can see myself returning for one of the myriad services. read more

In regards to AAA Membership and road service - Stay away. There are others out there much better. AAA stranded my wife and grandchild for over 5 hours waiting for a tow truck. She finally called one on her own and had to pay $70 cash. When discussing this with the tow company, they said that AAA pays them so little, that AAA calls are last on the list and other customers come first. read more

Best service highly recomoned this place a quick story to share my car broke down and needed a towing company to come and towe it. called Kris at 8pm and he walked me thought every step of the way. when I was in his office he told me to open my phone and save his number in case I have any questions about my insurance. a few weeks later I was glad I knew who to call. that was great thanks kris best insurance guy. read more

Beyond slow. I never actually got service because after waiting for 20 minutes I walked out. I was the only one there and watched three AAA employees walk by with their lunches. It was 2:30! Apparently I am not their priority. I won't be back to this branch ever. read more
