I was told to sign up for AAA to get towing service the same day. I did sign up. To get the tow, I had to pay $125.00 immediately to AAA; since member services don't start for another 7 days.. Less than an hour later, tow truck shows. He can't tow my car. Tow truck leaves. I wait. Hour later, Stephanie from AAA Dispatch leaves me a message requesting that I seek alternative commercial services to have my car towed. Make this make sense. There was no follow-up from AAA to assist with whatever a commercial service is. I'm now waiting for a refund of my payment to AAA that was not even worth paying; let alone wasting the time to sign up to be disappointed. read more

He helped me not only remove the tire, but he was able to fill my spare with air and I was able to get home... at 12 A.M.! Writing this review about my experience with AAA roadside assistance on 1/28/26 - I'm extremely disappointed. I submitted a roadside assistance request at 3:00 PM through the AAA app, since the phone system explicitly says using the app is faster. The app provided an ETA countdown timer which I used to time my Uber to arrive at the parking garage where my car died so I could meet the technician. By 4:30 PM, no one had arrived. When I called AAA, I was told the ETA shown in the app has been broken and is inaccurate (incredibly misleading!). She said the actual ETA was 4:30-6:30 PM and that I would receive a tracking link when the technician was on the way. That link never came. At 6:30 PM, I called again and spoke to the most unhelpful customer service rep I've ever dealt with. Every question I asked was met with the same robotic response: "You'll receive a link when the technician is on the way." No updates. No accountability. No attempt to help. It is now 9:30 PM (over 6 hours after my initial request) and no technician was ever on route. Because of AAA's failure to follow through, my car is now stuck in a parking garage overnight, costing me additional fees that I should not be responsible for. I understand high call volumes and delays happen but this level of poor communication, broken technology, and useless customer service is unacceptable. When you pay for a service that's meant to help in stressful situations, the bare minimum expectation is transparency, reliability, and basic human support. Amazing people and Great experience! I went to the Congress street branch to get my drivers license renewed. The DMV won't have an appointment for another month and I got an appointment with AAA within a day - spoke to Victoria over the phone who was so helpful! But I was dreading the fact I had to go in person because I let my license expire. Rushing there after work, I didn't have any of my application printed and was embarrassingly unprepared. The branch manager Ms Joann A who checked me in was so kind and helpful! She reassured me to not rush and helped me to look up everything I needed so patiently. She also educated me about getting real ID and all the services at AAA for us as members which I never knew about. While I was shamefully holding up the line, she was so respectful to everyone there and made sure everyone waiting was cared for. I was so impressed! Then I went to Ms Katie A who was taking photo and doing eye exam. The customer before me asked many questions and looked like she really needed someone to talk to. Katie was gentle and so patient with her and kept her company and gave her a mirror for her photos and never rushed her and answered all her questions. Watching their interaction reminded me how a great therapist would help a patient. It is such a breath of fresh air to see someone outside of the hospital caring for others like their own. And I never look good on photo but Katie took 2 good ones and let me choose. Driving is such an important part of our lives and we are all so vain about that silly passport photo for unclear reasons - Katie understood that and was so professional and gracious. I wanted to write about what I witnessed to pay kindness forward because in an age where we do everything online, this is such a refreshing experience. I recall as a kid, I used to go to AAA with my parents before a long trip and it was exciting and fun. But I haven't done that for decades - I can use my phone GPS and I just can't spare the time. In an age when everything is so remote, so rushed and the pandemic put such a strain on everyone over the last few years, witnessing such kindness and compassion and respect from Joanne and Katie first hand made this such a great day. I put in a call for a simple jump start for a dead battery at 8:04, on a Monday night, no traffic, slow night. At 8:26, I look online and they say they'll be there in 37 minutes, so it looks like a full hour at a quiet time, but that would have been tolerable. At 9:00 they tell me it will take until 9:50, so almost TWO HOURS for a simple jumpstart on a slow Monday night with no traffic. read more

Called customer service for an update since I never heard anything. They said they would put my service in as priority due to my location. They didn't. I'll give the local AAA 4 stars cause 1) The RMV station is back, and now they're also handling the Real ID proof verification (well, they're photocopying them). $50 2) The staffer was willing to research their credit card benefits for me when I expressed curiosity about their AAA credit card (Signature Visa Card with 3x points on eligible travel and AAA purchases, 2x points on eligible gas, grocery store, wholesale club and drugstore purchases, and 1x points on all other purchases; no annual fee, no foreign transaction fees). I was wondering what sort of travel insurance came with their card. (My own end result - they don't offer the trip interruption and cancellation that one of my current cards include.) 3) They answered my question on the phone without asking for proof of my membership - What? AAA exchanges currency? I decided to call them up to check on this... Yes, you come in to place your order and to pay with cash or a debit card with a PIN. They work with Wells Fargo and it is a 2 day turnaround when you can come in to pick up your order. There's a $10 fee if the funds exchanged are under $200. And if you exchanged cash here, you can also sell it back to them. Canadian Exchange Rate on 3/18/2019 - 0.790389 CAD for every $1 USD (rounded to the closest dollar). Funny, both people who answered my calls gave me the quote in reverse. Online the quote is 0.748 (or 1.336 in the correct direction). *** 5/2019 - flat tire. :( Call AAA! We lucked out - the tow company called us back nearly immediately. Sure, he asked us to confirm that the spare was a good one, but after that it was just 5 min for their nearest truck to get to us. As the sun began to set, a young man hopped out and lickety split (5 min later) our tire was changed and good to go. A healthy body, gloves, portable rolling floor jack, and an air gun made it look easy peasy. Generally we treat AAA as an insurance - something to have just in case something should happen. Well, this year, we've got this one call in - the first in years - my license renewal, as well as my AAA discount on my auto insurance. Yup, AAA is doing good for us this year. Basic AAA membership is $54, and it is another $34 to add an adult member, with each member getting 4 Roadside Assistance calls included a year. read more

I am very disappointed with AAA after 23 years. I bought a batery from then in November and until today they not change it. They say that have garanty but when the technician comes to the place where my car broken they do the test and do not change the batery. I have been calling 4 times and yesterday my car broken again and I was on the street again. Was so cold and now I am very sick at home. I tried to call then and always the same response. Just a really bizarre experience. I was taking a trip and needed an international drivers license which you can get through AAA. I had a couple simple questions I wanted answered before I got up and went there so I didn't waste a trip. I tried calling them and no one ever answered the phone. Ever. Not in the mornings. Not in the afternoons. Ever. For days. I finally decided to just go down there since I was running out of time. I went down to the building and just for the hell of it stood in the lobby and called the office. There were maybe 10 different people working there all plugging away at god knows what and every single one of them sat there listening to the phone ring and refused to pick it up. So like... mystery solved. I walked in, and a very friendly guy immediately helped me at the front desk. He answered my questions and maybe 10 minutes later I walked out of there with exactly what I needed. He very calmly took care of all my paperwork while ignoring someone else's phone call and I took my stuff and went home without ever mentioning any of it. Like a week later I got an email from a district manager because I forgot that I had complained in a rage while they were ignoring the phone calls. He was completely lost and couldn't conceptualize the simple observation that they were purposely not answering the phone ever so mystery solved again as far as where they get their completely bizarre social habits from. read more

Fast forward to 1.5 hours later, AAA called to say that the tow truck was at an address totally different than the one he gave and that he should come over to where the truck is. No complaints here. I was listening to my car radio and drained my battery. I called in for a recharge and within 25 minutes there was someone there to recharge my battery. They say to expect 45 minutes before service which I suppose is reasonable. It was the second time I had had a recharge in the past year. I cancelled my membership 3 months in and asked for a pro rated refund of the membership fee. Its been 3 hours now that I called AAA for roadside assistance as I'm broken down outside my work. They said 2 hours. I cannot wait in my car as its over 90 degrees out, so im outside waiting. I cannot leave my car for the tow truck to tow without me as I am broken down in a taxi stand and if I leave, the city of Boston will tow my car. I have to be back to work by 7am and live 1 and half hours away, so I leave my house by 5:30am, and its 10:30pm now and tow truck still isn't here. Went here to get an International Driving Permit since I am planning to brave the winding roads of Ukraine when I go there to visit my family in July. The place is easy to find, and in a beautiful building. The service is fantastic- granted there was only one other customer in there at the same time as me but there was also a plethora of people working there so I was helped right away. They take your photos there too which is great! So I would assume you can get passport/visa photos there as well. It's amazing the services they offer- travel agency, insurance, etc. I'll definitely be coming back to utilize my membership because I seriously never use it anymore hah. They weren't kidding when they said I'd get my permit within 10-15 minutes, it was quick- the service was great and I left with what I came there for! A+, I'm just deducting a star because I haven't utilized more than one of this locations services yet. read more

AAA is fine, but I can't recommend their Mapfre/Commerce insurance. I've had insurance through them/Commerce/AAA for far too long - every year I think I should look around but never get to it. This year they bumped my premium up some $350 for an out of date inspection sticker - something like 1500% what the actual ticket was, and I decided it was time to go. I just happened to get a mailing from GEICO that day (someone at the state offices must make money telling all the insurance companies when a policy is about to expire), so called them first. Their guy told me he could give me a policy for $410, saving me almost $1,300 over Mapfre! I'm kicking myself that I waited so long. I read something that some 40% of people never compare rates, and I had foolishly assumed they were all about the same. read more

My car broke down and I called AAA. I have been a member for years. My first call was at 4:30 PM and I was just informed that the tow truck will "possibly" arrive in the morning. My car is on the side of the road and may be towed by the local police. I called back and was told they can only estimate the car will be towed sometime tomorrow. We were referred to the AAA table and spoke to Dale Fernald. We told her what we were looking for and she was enthusiastic in wanting to help us plan out our trip. I have been an AAA member for close to 30 years. I needed a tow the other day. The link they texted worked well enough, but there was not follow up to provide any info on when the tow should be expected to arrive. I had to call again to speak to a person. She was nice enough and immediately provided a time frame. Why did this not come as a text? Would have saved time and worry. Plus their call center. When the tow arrived, despite the AAA webpage asking if I needed a ride with my car, the driver did not have room to take me, leaving me stranded. Once again, I must ask - why does AAA not have this detail worked out? Their tech seems good enough - once the tow started coming I could watch it on an online map - how can they drop the ball on these other details? Clearly this is a choice, and I think, I poor one. I waited over 5 hours for a battery replacement, only for it to get too late and not be able to get my battery replaced at all. When I tried to call in the morning, I was hung up on over 4 times, transfered to the wrong departments an innumerable amount of times, and eventually gave up.
