I've used Enterprise several times, and this critical review is not about the Medford, MA store. The employees there are excellent. I am criticizing "corporate" Enterprise. It charges exorbitant bogus fees for nothing. The windowshield cracked on my rental car. Shortly after Enterprise sent me an invoice for $247, for some sort of sensor, and a $50 "administration" fee. I think this is pure gouging for nothing. I suggest anyone thinking about renting from Enterprise should think about using another firm. This review is not about the rental car they loaned to me, which was a old Hundai with almost 50,000 miles. I hadn't rented a car in 3 years. Is it now common for rental cars to be that old? Irene took the time to track down the rental and sort out a huge mess, all while being very kind and compassionate during a stressful time. I walked in here after having a horrible experience with Hertz ( across the street). I was immediately greeted by Cam, and he asked how he could help me? I told him I was looking to rent a car for 10 to 14 days while mine was being fixed at Medford Citi Auto Body. He looked to get me the best price, and I told him, and I only had a debit / credit card on me he said no problem, we'll get you in a car and on your way. It was about 10 -15 minutes from the time I walked in there to the time I drove away. The transaction was smooth, and Cam was pleasant, friendly, and easy to work with. Rented from here a few times as my shop is right down the street and most times have been Insurance Claims so I feel they tend to be more accomodating & get you in & out better because they know its covered. Mike is great, all the team is nice. Often has a wide array of cars available & they seem to want to help move you right along & get you in & out. Overall among the better car rental experiences I've had. Was out the door very quickly with zero obnoxious upselling of insurance or gizmos. However they ultimately overcharged me $85. It was quickly corrected after a phone call, but still leaves a bad taste. Dropping off a car on Sunday, after the office closes but before the time on the original rental agreement, must be a common occurrence and shouldn't result in an extra day accidentally tacked on to the final invoice. I'd still recommend them, but if you rent from here with a similar scenario, check your credit card statement. read more

Elena (the Manager of this location) and two very unprofessional employees Joe and Dean made my experience one of the worst rental experiences of my life. After speaking to the area manager about the situation and calling him on multiple occasions without a single call back. Horrific from the beginning to the end. Sadly, high pressure. They were confused continually. Poor communication. Paperwork was all wrong. They over-charged me for added insurance. Even in my attempts to communicate with them it all fell on deaf ears. I came into the office for a meeting as requested and they did not tell me a needed to bring in the rental car too. (which my wife was driving) The end billing was incorrect so I called. They said they fixed it. That was not the case. I received a bill from collections!!! Enterprise Rent-A - Car in Medford. 221 Mystic Ave Medford, MA 02155. Yesterday my daughter found herself with a flat tire and was able to make it to a full service gas station where she was told the tire was a complete loss and would have to be replace but.... they did not have a replacement and would take a day or two to get one! I live several hours away and my first thought was Enterprise! Knowing it's a few days before Thanksgiving and would be difficult finding a rental I went on line and found Enterprise near my daughter in Medford. My goodness, we found truly a knight in shinning armor (and his staff) ready to rescue my daughter, Alan! Alan was amazing in talking to us both and assuring us that he and his staff would do everything they could to put my daughter in a car by the end of the day! and we could BREATHE! I use Enterprise all the time for business and travel and I've never had a bad experience until I came here. I picked up the car a week ago after my car was involved in an accident while parked. I gave them the claim number and two phone numbers to both my and the other driver's insurance agency. Today, out of the blue, I was charged nearly $400 for the cost of the rental. I called and spoke with Alyssa who was extremely rude and said "well your insurance company said the other insurance agency was paying for it and we haven't gotten in touch with them yet". So instead they charge me? I spoke with the manager, Matt, who was more helpful but still made some false claims. He claimed I was notified of the charge before it happened, which I was not. He also claimed Alyssa called me numerous times, which she did not. After calling corporate, I was refunded the money but this is still HORRIBLE customer service to provide just two days before Christmas. Without a doubt, this is the absolute WORST Enterprise location within their company. read more

I'm extremely disappointed to see that if you are a female and wearing a skimpy outfit and speak with Ryan, you can get your SUV for 1/3 the price. I wish I would have known before I paid three times as much!! This girl just came in after I paid and told Ryan that she wanted her SUV for $35/day. She ended up getting it for $30/day to compensate for the price of the GPS she wanted, which couldn't be reduced on the computer. Moral of the story? Stick those boobies out there, find Ryan, and be persistent and you get what you want. read more

We rented a car here recently for a long distance road trip. The price was a little bit on the high end but it was the cheapest we could find. On our trip, there were several issues with the car including the battery dying (luckily I have AAA). We dropped the car off a day early, and the following day, my boyfriend received a call from Enterprise asking how everything went. This is something that most rental companies wont do. They discussed the problems we had, and the salesperson ended up not only refunding us 80 dollars for dropping the car off a day early, but then refunded even more for all the issues we had. We ended up spending 170 dollars less than our initial booking. Excellent customer service. Thanks so much!! read more

I had dropped off my car at a local auto body shop to have my car repaired and needless to say,the service that I have received from this enterprise was exceptional. The representative (Anthia M.) quickly picked me up from the auto repair shop, gave me a ride back to the location, and I was able to get in and out of the place in under 5 minutes. The entire staff was friendly, appeared professional, and made the experience really personable. I would definitely recommend coming to this place if you need a quick rental experience. 1/4/16 Update: I had recently requested a rental vehicle for business purposes over the phone and the woman (Alyssa?) that assisted me was one of the nicest representatives I've ever spoken to. I reserved a Hyundai Elantra or similar here via Priceline to take a trip to Philadelphia. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by Dean. After the initial paperwork was done he prepared an upgrade to a Kia SUV. I hadn't asked for it but was happy for the offer. The location is relatively small so they naturally won't always have dozens of vehicles in every category. Unfortunately, the Kia had an odor of cigarette smoke inside. Apologetic, Dean walked with me through their lot to find a replacement. He eventually found a Ford Fusion Hybrid, which I accepted at no additional cost. What struck me as exceptional for this location, aside from Dean's helpfulness, was the speed of the paperwork process. Even with the changes in vehicles (I had already "signed out" the Kia when the smoke was noticed) and another little wrinkle of my own choosing, everything was quickly and accurately handled. Returning the vehicle was just as easy. I had planned on walking about 35 minutes home afterward. Without knowing that, Dean asked if I needed a ride, and I was quickly given one. I will be more than happy renting a vehicle from this location in the future. read more

I rented a car for several days there, and due to constantly shifting schedules, had to modify the reservation several times, both in terms of car needs and time frame -- it wasn't a problem for Enterprise, they had the car I had requested, at the price indicated. I didn't cost it out to determine if they were the cheapest, but I think they are the most convenient to this area. They do offer a drop off service, though I wouldn't expect them to be able to just deliver the car on demand, as they seem to be a small branch.. I was happy I went in personally to rent the car, because they were very busy that day, and I would have had to wait quite a while for them to drop the car off at my hotel, which would have messed with my day's plans. Having said that, after I returned the car, one of the staff drove me right back to my hotel, where I otherwise would have had to hail a cab or catch a bus. Just note that their hours are a bit constricted -- they close every weeknight at 6 PM, and have even more limited hours on the weekend. All the staff I encountered were young, professionally attired, courteous and excellent to deal with. It seems like a quite well run operation. They didn't push extra insurance costs on me, just made them available to me as an option. Will definitely rent from them again when I'm in the area. I subtracted one star simply because the hours can be difficult to work around. read more

I have been a devoted customer of enterprise for more than a decade. I'm even a plus member. However, after this last incident with customer service I don't know if I'll rent from them again. I rented a Nissan Sentra from the lax, headed to the Glendale area. On the 3rd day the car malfunctioned. I'm not blaming them for the car but how they handled the situation. When dealing with them over the phone they wanted me to return to the airport and pick up another car. Of course that was insane since I didn't have transportation to reach them which they couldn't figure out. Then they said they could send a toll truck within 3 hours and get me to the lax car rental. Which would have ruined my entire day. I ended up waiting for a toll anyway (45 minutes) to take the car away and I had to make other arrangements to get where I needed to be. Unfortunately, I ended up missing a memorial because enterprise was not as attentive and expedient in servicing me. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! read more

I booked a one-way rental from NYC to Boston, and normally that means dropping the car off at the airport in Boston. I walked in and asked the guys at this Enterprise if I could drop it off with them instead. It was ridiculously easy, and didn't cost extra. All I had to do was give my receipt and they took care of everything. It was hilariously easy. Who expects to drop a car off and not a) have an extra fee added or b) not have to wait hours on end to transfer the file from another Enterprise office. And it was during the holiday weekend. That was amazing. I really expected a long wait. I'll definitely be using this option in the future. read more

I've always viewed car rentals as an inconvenience. First you have to get someone to drop you off at the car, then coordinate a ride back, then you can't get a human being on the phone. Not only did Enterprise offer the best price (despite the 20% AAA discount Hertz offered), but they were above and beyond the best service. I was able to speak with someone at the office and had my rental reserved in under 5 minutes. Within 90 minutes of my call I was picked up at my front door, right on time, and we drove to the office to complete the paperwork. I was out the door in minutes and received a free upgrade on the car because the car I rented "wasn't ready". Rather than make me wait an extra 10-15 minutes, they upgraded me to a nicer vehicle and got me out the door faster. Hard to go wrong there! I dropped the car off after closing and left the keys in the drop box. Done deal. Had I dropped the car off the next morning they offer a free ride home. 2 days, no hassle, all for under $105. You can't go wrong. I would be hard pressed to find a company that will beat the service I received. read more

Wonderful location. Very attentive, professional and courteous staff. They are fast with paperwork but merely human. I've rented from this location multiple times and I'll be back. Unlike some other locations, when they get slammed with business the employees start running to get you out as fast as they can in a friendly and efficient manner. That being said waiting 15 minutes while they deal with 12 other customers in front of you is actually a treat, especially when a third of the customers customers come in saying "they are in a hurry and can't wait". Arrived at the facility a minute or two after they were supposed to be closed. The guy behind the counter did not seem to mind and helped me pick up my car and get me on the road. Mark was very friendly throughout the entire process and did not make it feel like I inconvenienced him by keeping him late. The minivan we rented was great and the price for 8+ days was very reasonable. Drop off was easy even thought it was another at the closing wire process. Still no problems! That night someone in my group realized that they had lost a phone. When I called Enterprise Medford in the AM, they looked and found it and a pair of reading glasses as well. Had to rent a car recently and Enterprise is the one my insurance company recommends. Close proximity to work. They do really "pick you up" if you need a ride. Clean new building with plenty of staff and a good selection of cars. HIGHLY recommend you make a reservation because they do run out of cars sometimes. One thing they did have which is great is the prepay gas thing at about .20 cents less per gallon than what you or I would pay. How they do it? No idea but I LIKE IT! Definitely recommend that option. It's a no brainer. Will use them in the future. read more
