From $450 to $1100 to $1000. The first star is for the years of service I received and appreciated, the second star is for the last year, going back to the summer of 2024, and the rating I truly want to give. Last summer I went here to get an oil change and was told that I also needed new brakes. It felt like an upsell because my brakes were fine. No grinding, no malfunctions, no squeaking. So, I said, "No, thank you," to the new brakes and paid for the oil change. A short while after that visit, while driving, my engine started to sound like it was falling apart. ("Like boots in a dryer" you might say.) I manage to get my car to the station up the street from Power Plus and learned that, after the oil change, my oil pan wasn't tightly sealed and all the oil had spilled out of my bone dry engine -- destroying it. A month or so later, Power Plus, once they realized their mistake, did replace the engine free of charge. My final trip to Power Plus was for another oil change. I also asked them to look into why my engine light was on. The next day, today, I receive a morning call from a mechanic, telling me that they haven't figured out what's wrong with the engine light but that I need new brakes. (This was the same mechanic who said as much last year.) This time -- thinking more about my kid's safety than the true state of my brakes -- I just said, "Fine." The mechanic quoted me a parts and labor price for about $450, and said he'll call to explain what the engine light meant and that he'll call before doing any other work that would raise the cost. When they tell me the car is ready, I mentally budget for about $600, maybe $700 -- because sometimes the cost jumps a little and I didn't want to haggle. I arrive to an $1100 bill. After demanding an explanation from the mechanic, he tells me that there were unexpected complications and that he had to order new parts and do new work. I tell him that he quoted me $450 on the phone and said that he would call before doing any other work that would explode the cost. I had even called back shortly after the first call, asking if it was too late to halt the new brakes job. The mechanic said it was already done -- and made no mention of any other work or new costs. I told him there are one of two options: Either the price gets fixed or I'll pay the bill and simply never go there again. The mechanic says that he's going to call Johnny and see what can be done. He comes back and says that Johnny is willing to knock $100 off the bill. My only reaction was disappointment. My ex never felt good about that shop and I always felt that was a little unfair because I'd never had any negative experiences with them before. But between last year and today, I just gave him my card and said, "Please, let Johnny know that I'm never coming back." The mechanic said, "I already did." read more

So as a place to get gas this place can be really annoying cuz one of the attendants there will literally sit on his phone inside and let you sit at the gas pump until he's ready to walk out to you and pump your gas. Typically on a normal day I wouldn't care but whenever you have stuff to do that can be pretty annoying. Then he's always on the phone which is super super annoying because sometimes you can tell him one price and he adds something else because he's not listening to you he's on the phone. The gas is about the cheapest I found so far probably in all of Massachusetts, and they also have a little auto shop. I had these kind gentlemen change my tires for me, it cost me 20 bucks but that's okay cuz I was going to tip them that anyway. I also got my inspection sticker done here it was really quick in and out. I'm not sure what the prices are for mechanic work, but they were quoting this lady on breaks when I was there and that seems pretty decent compared to the quotes I get on my car. read more

I spent six months going to a different mechanic and the Nissan dealer trying to get my vehicle to pass inspection. The dealer told me there is nothing wrong with it yet it kept giving me a "not ready" message on the OBD scan so it wouldn't pass. I finally decided to go see Johnny the mechanic to see if I could get a "second opinion" of sorts. My car was making a loud noise. I wondered if it was the oil l filter or air intake. Unfortunately the sound faded by the time they saw it. They spent a fair amount trying to diagnose it, even doing two road tests, and when all checks came out ok they didn't charge anything. read more

Do yourself a favor and go to another gas station, the people that work here are beyond rude and unprofessional. I pulled up earlier today to get gas, but the employee was too busy talking on the phone with his friends to help me. I couldn't see how much the gas was and their sign is broken, so there's no price list there either. I asked the gentleman three times if he could tell me the price of the regular gas instead of helping me he chose to ignore me and continuously talking on the phone with a friend. I drove away in disbelief that this is how unprofessional this business is run. The owner should really do a little work and hire people who want to work instead of chatting on the phone while customers wait. Couple years ago, I had an issue with this gas station but I thought I'd give them another chance as everyone can have a bad day but again to experience this unprofessionalism is very distressful and I'm over it. read more

I've been going to Power Plus for both Gas and Service on my vehicle for years now. Across two different sets of management. Their gas is some of the cheapest in the neighboring towns, so that's an easy sell. However, that's not the reason for this review. Johnny, the absolute legend who runs the service shop, is the reason. Not only is he one of the most hardworking, optimistic and friendly people that I've met. The man does great work, quickly, at some of the most family friendly rates I've ever experienced. I drive a FORD aka "Fix or Repair Daily". I'm in there frequently (never for the same problem, so that shouldn't reflect poorly on the service). Johnny always finds me the best quality parts at discounted rates and almost always under-promises and over-delivers, in terms of time and cost expectations. Johnny and his team go above and beyond at their job! Johnny is always very patient and answers all the questions I have on the jobs that need to be done. His honesty and transparency in doing business have made the whole experience really phenomenal. I need to replace the catalytic converter and the rusted exhaust on my car. After Johnny completed the job, the engine light went on all the sudden. He found out the sensor is broken and it needs to be replaced as well. Johnny kindly offers not to charge me on the labor, but the cost of the part only. I took the car in the next day to replace the sensor and it turned out to be a huge effort for Johnny and his team. The wires around the old sensor were rusted which made a 20-minute job ended up being more than an hour ---- and with two mechanics at the same time! Two poor guys were burnt while they are getting this job done. With all that, guess what? Johnny kept his promise and still did not charge me any labor fee! I really appreciate all the effort that Johnny and his team has put in to take care of my car and I will not take my car to any other places for service from now on. Thank you Johnny! read more

Looking for an honest mechanic with reasonable prices? Go see Johnny. Over the summer I was having problems with my A/C, and when I took the car to Johnny, he said the compressor might be bad. After he worked on the car, it turned out it wasn't the compressor but a wiring issue, which cost me a fraction of a new compressor. I drove over a small rusted car part that immediately punctured my tire on the way to work this morning. I searched for the closest shop and quickly made my way down to Power Plus. I am so lucky I stumbled upon this place! When I got there, you could hear the air rushing out of the tire. Johnny immediately took my car in and said he wanted to hurry so he could patch it before the tire got flat. I truly have never felt so reassured and cared-for at any other auto shops. Johnny took my predicament personally and made sure I was taken care of. I was there for a total of about 10 minutes before my tire was fixed and I was on my way! Thank you Power Plus! I can't recommend this repair shop enough. I bought a used car that I knew had some problems, but didn't realize how bad the problems were.
