Avoid this shop!! I brought my car here. It wasn't running and I needed answers so I could get it fixed. I called everyday to check in. No one knew anything. Took two weeks to get a diagnostic and a fuel pump. $1280 later. My car didn't even need a fuel pump, still wouldn't run. I winded up towing my car somewhere else. Avoid this shop at all costs. I brought my car in to have the catalytic converter, gaskets, upstream and downstream O2 sensors replaced, plus a tune-up. I dropped it off Monday, June 30 at 8 AM after confirming the appointment by phone but when I arrived, they claimed there was no record of it. I showed proof, and they still had no answers. I told them I had 3 days off and could be without my car. They didn't touch it until Thursday at noon. No calls, no updates. Once they finally looked at it, they quoted me $2,000, which I approved only to be told I had to pay half upfront before they'd even start. That policy was never mentioned, and I felt cornered into paying just to avoid more delays. They gave me multiple false updates, including a text saying my car was ready followed by a call minutes later saying that was a "system error." The part still hadn't arrived. This dragged out for nearly two weeks. I ended up spending $520 on Ubers since I'm under 25 and couldn't rent a car. When I picked up my car, I had to fight just to get my old catalytic converter back even though I already paid for a new one. Then I noticed my left headlight was completely out, which wasn't the case when I dropped it off. When I called, they brushed it off and basically told me "not our problem." This shop was disorganized, dishonest, and had zero customer care. They wasted my time, cost me money, and gave me nothing but stress. I expected better from a AAA-approved repair shop I'll never go back. read more

I will definitely come here instead of the dealership when in the area. I have been here twice due to no dealership appointments. I scheduled an appointment online. I have drop my car off both times due to two hour wait for oil change, tire rotation and multi point inspection. It's worth the wait. They have great customer service, will text and call to let you know when vehicle is ready. If you need further work done on your car they will text you inspection, photos and call you prior to them doing anything to your car. I have mixed feelings about this place. When dealing with a cruise booking for a large group of people that don't live in the area, I do not suggest going through AAA. The person we worked with wasn't the best at responding to us or was often out of the office. Many of our group members had never cruised before and going through AAA made it much more difficult for them, in my opinion. IF your group is local, it may work much better. The few times that I have gone in for other things like an international driver's permit, etc., I have not had any issues. I started the day with roadside assistance and I was informed I needed a new battery. So I purchased one with y'all. The tech was not able to change it after trying for about 20 minutes and I was stuck with a new battery but unsure how to fix the problem myself and I needed to get on the road today. I called the Summerville AAA and John Hendricks picked up and told me to come to see if what he could do. He checked out the situation and determined that it had been broken by the last technician. He spent 45 mins working on fixing the mess the last person cause and fixed the problem! It was so hot as well! I went here to attempt to have my oil changed with their $17.95. When I went to the reception desk on July 31st at approximately 1:00 PM, I asked where the service desk was located as I had never been to this location before. The older gentleman sitting behind the desk felt bothered that I would interrupt him from whatever solitaire game he may have been playing. He responded unmannerly, "Do you have an appointment?" I responded, "No. Do I need an appointment?" He impolitely said, "You will need an appointment." I admit that I did not do my homework to see how I can capitalize on their $17.95 oil change and tire rotation special, but I also do not enjoy a rude customer service attitude. Welp. This was or to go place. As a long time AAA member I was excited when they put this location here but my last experiment I give one star. Appt made for oil change and tire rotation. I'm sitting in the lounge; first the employees are playing a conversation of a customer and an employee. I recorded this and thought it was truly sad. The lady called and said AAA messed up her xxx and they said no they wouldn't even touch xxx while doing xxx ....you have customers in here while these idiots are playing this out loud in front of customers and calling the lady a scammer and rhis and that....I have zero respect for this branch. Then I'm watching the "techs" doing my car laughing and joking showing each other their phones...hehehaha right. I started recording my tech as he didn't rotate my tires. I went up from before the tech did and told the check out person Claude or something like that he asked the tech three times the tech finally just shook his head no and mumbled then I was asked if I wanted them rotated ...of course I did I paid for this. I'm concerned! A friend of mine was stranded with car trouble yesterday (Mon June 22, 2020) and through AAA membership was able to get service and a tow. However, she was driving alone and due to Covid-19 was not able to get a ride with the service person. She had to call her son to pick her up. Is this how AAA and it's affiliates are handling current car break-downs? As a Senior and long-time AAA member, I'm wondering now what service or help I might expect if stranded? Over priced and not very accommodating. I recently had my oil changed, tires rotated and two filters replaced on my 2014 Honda CRV. It was close to $160, and that was with a $20 off coupon. Almost immediately upon leaving (within the hour), my low tire pressure light came on. My husband and I were headed out of town for the weekend. I felt certain it had something to do with the tires being rotated. We stopped at a gas station and looked at the tires; it was not visually apparent that ANY tire was low, so absent a gauge (which we didn't have), there was no way to know. I took it back the following Tuesday (light still on) and told them what happened... asked if they could take a look... advised I only had 30 mins--could they squeeze me in? Man said nope--not enough time, so I gave them 10 more minutes to work with, and he still couldn't accommodate me. On top of that, my husband told me I was grossly overcharged for services. As a result of there being two distinctly different services at this business, this is going to be a split review. First review is for the Travel Services section. Billy Andrews has consistently provided excellent service and has demonstrated his interest in the success of my vacations. Billy makes sure that I am receiving every possible discount which I am eligible for. I highly recommend the AAA Travel Services branch for smooth vacation planning! The second review is for the AAA Car Care section. They seem to push unnecessary services and are very expensive. Also, for the prices which they charge, they should be using Original Manufacturing Equipment (OEM) parts instead of the cheap NAPA aftermarket parts which they currently use. On the positive side, they are friendly and provide shuttle rides so you don't have to wait there. read more

First off, I came in because I got a free vehicle inspection as a AAA member - that's a win. Plus, calling to schedule this was so easy and the woman on the phone was so pleasant. Second, the actual location was a delight! Once I got here, everyone I interacted was great! They got me in promptly & I was able to watch the inspection happen through the glass cutout. The mechanic came out and said my filters needed changing and we had a great conversation. He also saw I left my water bottle in my car and asked if I wanted it. I said yes, but then he told me it was warm, and brought me a cold water bottle! That is service! Finally, I had to change my decision to change the filters, and although I felt guilty, they didn't mind a bit! They finished everything up, gave me a report, and I was on my way! This is my second experience at a AAA car care center and both times have been the most awful experiences ever. The first time, with my previous car, I elected to not use their services as they quoted me $1600 for parts and labor and said it would take a week to fix. Took it to a local shop and they fixed it in less than 2 hours for $700. Now this time, my car breaks down, I have to get it towed to a shop 14 miles away because the one 4 miles away is closed "due to Covid"; paid for the tow, explained the situation that my car's check engine light was flashing and car was stalling out. Waited 4 days for them to even look at my car. Paid $109 for a full diagnostic in which they claimed they could not find any issues. Picked up my vehicle and found the check engine light still flashing, they never bothered to check the code. They started my car up and let it idle for 4 hours and said nothing was wrong. Needless to say, my car didn't get very far. Now i have to take it to a "real" mechanic because the check engine light reads as a engine misfire and should not be driven; AAA will never see anymore business from me. read more

I took my car in for a brake noise the brakes had been replaced here & were under warranty. They said it needed a part replaced & the car was not safe to drive but they could not get the part till the next day. so i lost a days work because I use this car for commercial deliveries. they replaced the part & I drove it home it began making a lot of noise and when I got out of the car FLAMES WERE COMING FROM THE FRONT WHEELS. they sent a tow truck but because it was closing at 4pm they could not fix until Monday. they finally got it fixed monday but now I lost Three days work due to their faulty install. i told the manager I make 125/day so I wanted them to give me that as compensation, they gave me a credit of $150 on my credit card. I called the regional manager Bryan regarding the missing compensation he said he would investigate & let me know the next day the store manager Amanda called to tell me she would give me anymore money. its bad enough i could have been killed by their poor workmanship but the fact that they refuse to compensate me for lost wages I will never bring a car to this facility and pass the word to everyone I know. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the service that I received. I arrived early and they still took my car back right away. I enjoyed being able to view everything that the mechanics did to my car through the waiting room window. After my oil change, the service manager explained the inspection to me and gave me his recommendations. It was a wonderful experience and I'll definitely return. read more

Took my daughters car in for an oil change on a Saturday morning to AAA Auto Service Center at opening time, had forgot that they take appointments and usually are very busy on Saturdays. However, even though they had several people ahead of me, the Service Manage Paul Johnson told me he would get me in and out in no time. After a 45 minute wait, my daughters car was ready !! Beware. I have never posted a yelp review about any company before. But when you find the final bill have extra $25 "shop charges" they did not mention to you until you are paying the final bill. Plus for some reason they like to provide a quote amount for the work, but not let you know that "the quote" did not include taxes and other fees. I will not be using this place again. I have had bad experiences before, but thought I'll give them another shot. I made my oil change appointment online after receiving a coupon in the mail. When I arrived to check in the representative read off the services I was to recieve. There were 4 additional services I hadn't asked for. I held up the coupon and said that I should only be getting an oil change and tire rotation for the 49.99 advertised price. He the repeated so you're sure you don't want services X,Y,and Z. I repeated again that I only wanted the included services with the coupon. He said ok, I handed my keys over and left. Several hours later I got a phone call to let me know my truck needs approximately $600 worth of services. Some of these services I had just completed at the dealership a few months prior as part of my warrantee service. I declined all except a simple air filter change for 24.99. A few more hours pass and I am notified my vehicle is ready for pickup. While checking out the SAME representative that checked me in, stated my balance due as $160 dollars! He then proceeds to explain that the tire rotation included free with my oil change also requires a balancing service. The balancing service is an additional 49.99! I disagreed and began explaining how i specifically asked for only what was invluded. Another representative at the desk decided to chime in and began arguing with me about what I had asked for. He then did everything but out right call me a liar. I again disappointed with this place just paid the fee to get out of there as my frustration was growing. I decided to review my receipt once I returned home only to find I had been charged for this mandatory balancing service but my oil change was $62! This place is a total sham! Beware!!! read more

I was in earlier tonight to spend some money on some travel gear for a first time trip overseas..and had a question about travel adapters. The first lady who was kind enough had to ask about it to a woman named Tracy...and 3 feet away...Tracy retorts she is "off the clock"....so they gentleman next to her bothered to come and answer my one question. As a long time member for over 20 years, my husband and myself are not impressed with her customer service..and as a worker in retail...when someone asks you a question, off the clock or not..you are at least POLITE and help. This place has just lost our business, and as we have spent thousands here, they lost a 400 dollar purchase today alone. Brought my car in for oil change. They push their High Mileage Oil, which, I found out later is completely unnecessary. They also pushed for several hundred dollars worth of extra maintenance issues, which I also found out from a local (highly respected) mechanic of 30+ years, also was bogus. They wanted $65 to change 3 little light bulbs, which my son did in 10 minutes for $10 worth of bulbs. Even though my family has been AAA members for 40+ years, I will never take my car to be serviced there. While I've got a forum, one of their travel agents was completely rude when I tried to turn in my leftover foreign currency, WHICH AAA ORDERED FOR ME, so I mistakenly assumed I could do the reverse. I brought my car there to diagnose a problem. They ended up pushing for services my car did not need, and overcharging for the ones I thought it did need at the time. In addition, they had a charge on there for tires even though my issue had nothing to do with the tires. I explained to them why their prices were excessive, and they knocked my price down from about $840 to about $700. I then got a quote of $317 for the repairs that were actually necessary. I allowed the other shop to do their own diagnostic and found out that my issue was misdiagnosed, and covered under a federal warranty. I expected AAA to offer better service than they did. On Friday, March 11, we were on a road trip to Charleston, SC for the weekend. Approximately 30 miles away, my 2007 Toyota Camry began to shudder, bounce and shake. Worried about driving on the highway at rates of 70mph, I decided to be safe and head to closest AAA off the next exit. I have been a AAA member since 1995, so this seemed like the right choice. I have had many good experiences with AAA, but this one was different. Tony Nuzzo, was very pleasant and gave me lots of information, promising that his technician would give the car an overall inspection to see what may be causing the bounce and shaking that was occurring so suddenly. We thought maybe it was because we added a quart of oil prior to the trip, and didn't know if this would cause the car to shake this way. I am in banking and my girlfriend is in medicine, obviously, car care is not our specialty. He told us that it would be about 2 hours for this service. Even though we were on our way (and only 30 minutes away) we were more concerned with our safety that we left our car and walked to the nearest store in Summerville, SC. When we returned, we were told that an oil change had been completed, and air filter changed, which we agreed to at the beginning. Next, they stated that they took the car for a test ride and did not "feel the bouncing or shaking" that we felt. We knew it was more prominent at higher speeds, but it was also very noticeable on side roads at lower speeds. We thanked Tony for being so nice and we left to start our vacation, albeit 3 hours later than we were hoping. As we left the AAA car care center, we still felt the bouncing and shaking, but felt confident that if something was wrong the technician would have found it on the test drive and discussed what the problem could have been. But because, they said a full inspection was completed and only noted that the front shocks were leaking fluid, we felt that we could get this done when we returned home. We drove carefully, because it still did not feel right. My girlfriend even took a video of me while driving onto Charleston, to send to a friend, because the shaking was ridiculous. We drove slower speeds than normal and remained in the right lane for the ride. Not 20 minutes later as we were driving over one of the bridges into Mount Pleasant, there was a loud noise, and the car was difficult to steer and was not driving safely. We slowed our speed, and safely pulled over after the bridge and found that our driver rear tire was blown and shredded!! This was terrifying, with the afternoon rush hour traffic and large tractor trailers flying by us! We called AAA, to have us towed and had to wait over an hour and half to be picked up. We decided to have it towed to a different facility, to have fresh eyes, since the last AAA car care center looked at it only 2o minutes prior to this incident. Obviously, something was missed. SO, we now have missed our entire afternoon and dinner reservations for our vacation weekend. The next car care place found that the tire was disconnected from the car, causing the shaking and bouncing and eventually, the tire blew and shredded. We were now without a car for the rest of our vacation, had to replace a shredded tire, therefore a second back tire was also replaced, to balance and align the car. Once the new tires were placed and a test drive was completed, the technician new right away that something wasn't right. This took the rest of the day on Saturday as well as into the morning on Sunday morning. Once again, unable to do a day trip we had planned. I have written this long letter to make you aware of how disappointed I am as a member. I have lost confidence in the expertise at AAA car care facility. I am also looking to be reimbursed for the money that I had to spend at another facility that could have been avoided if the proper care had been given in Summerville. This total is for the tires, balance and alignment, as well as labor and also included the Uber ride fees that we had to rely on for the rest of the weekend. I fell confident you will make this right. I have been a AAA member for a long time, and would like to think that this was an isolated incident. When I bring my car in for an oil change and tire rotation they inspect my car and let me know of anything additional that needs to be fixed right away or that I can wait for until next time. They offer a discount with a membership. Every time I have been in they have done the repairs and services in a good time frame and have always been extremely nice!
