I had hit my transmission plug and was leaking fluid on my driveway and was concerned I may have done more damage. These mechanics adjusted and tightened what had become knocked loose and had me on my way. Not happy with AAA Car Care / Mount Pleasant - Tried to use for a Tire Rack installer and though that part went ok I asked they check a small antifreeze leak that turned out to be a water pump problem. They gave me a vague quote of $4000 to $7000 dependent on what needed to replace suspecting all hoses and thermostat, etc will also need replaced when get into it. When I tried to question and understand I received attitude and a take it or leave it response. Took it down the road to an Audi dealer and got a $3k quote (this is where you'd expect a high quote) and then to another Euro car sevice guy in town who did great repair job for $1800. Don't let the AAA affiliation make you think this shop is trustworthy. They are not. read more

I was crossing stuff off on my list before a big European trip and wanted to get my international drivers permit. I've heard you don't need it, but that some car rental places want it and its good to have if you get pulled over. I wasn't event planning on stopping in, but I was in the area on a weekend and decided I'd get it out of the way. I wasn't sure if they needed additional paperwork, but if I tried and had to come back, at least I'd know. I didn't realize but they were closing just as I walked in because they shut down at 4pm on Saturdays. I mentioned that I was looking to get my IDP and the guy said to come on over and he would take care of it anyway. It was very nice of him and saved me the trip of coming back. I filled out a form, he took some passport style photos (which were free because of my AAA membership), and gave me the info I needed. Within 15 minutes I was walking out with my permit all ready to go and some personal tips on driving internationally in the countries I was heading to. It was an excellent experience. read more

I should have checked these reviews before taking my car to this place. They were really nice, but did not fix my car. In fact they made it worse. I was having trouble cranking my car, so took it in for a diagnostic, which cost me $150. Then I had almost $2000 for repairs. Afterwards, my car still wouldn't crank properly, so I took it back in, and they said I needed a new alternator. I paid another $650 for this. The next day, I was STILL having problems cranking it. I also noticed it was shimmying and shaking when idling. In addition, it didn't sound like it was shifting properly. There's a high-pitched hum when I drive it, especially when I get up to 50 miles an hour. I took it back in AGAIN, and they kept it for three weeks, but claimed to not find anything wrong. (It cannot be a coincidence that I bring my car home and start having all these problems that I've never had before with it!) So I pick it up and now it sounds even worse! It started lurching when I was driving out of the parking lot. During those three weeks they kept promising they would call me, but never did. I had to keep calling them, and even went in there once in person. They tried using the old "we tried calling you" line, but with cell phones and caller ID, that excuse no longer flies. Avoid this place at all costs! Now I have to take it somewhere else to find out what they screwed up... read more

Lies!!! Denials!! In June I needed one of four tires for my trailer and aaa provided me options I picked the tire recommended as the best it was a Goodyear and I was happy with the work. I caught a screw in that tire in November and took it in the morning to be patched. They said they would call if they couldn't patch it. At the end of the next day I called them and found out they were replacing the tire and I had road hazard insurance so I only needed to pay mounting and balancing. I picked up the tire and put it on the trailer to fine they put a cheap nylon tire half the price of the radial tire. When I confronted them they assured me the tire was the same as the one they took off and would pull the original order to prove it. I took the trailer to them and asked to see the tire they took off the rim. They confirmed it was a Goodyear and said they warrantied a tire they do not sell. I told them I have a trailer outside with 3 matching tires original tires and the one they put on they had a work order from June matching the price of the Goodyear but the work order shows the tire they just put on. They doubled down and said that the guy who did sold me the tire in June doesn't work there and they blame him after accusing me of buying the tire somewhere else to cover the junk tire they put on my rim. They never admit to the mistake. they lied about the price of the tire they actually put on the trailer and said it cost $130 when the price is $70. They told me after the tire was on the rim they cannot patch a nylon tire, but the tire I gave them was a radial and the screw was in the middle of the tire. I went there because of the name AAA. I had heard that roadside assistance in Mount Pleasant, SC was extremely slow. Saw it first hand when my 17 yr old got stranded along busy route 41. Called at 6:30pm. Was told that someone would arrive at 7:30pm. It was after 8pm with no one in sight. He got a friend to jump start his car and was able to move it to a less congested area before it died again. This location went above and beyond for me, I requested a AAA jump for my battery this morning and they came out within 15mins. I brought my car here because 2 other places refused to change my battery due to having to remove a part to replace the old one. Greg Sibert was so helpful on the phone and told me they would get it done for me. I didn't have my membership card on me and William Mitchell jr. was able to look it up for me. We have used the service whenever necessary w/o hesitation and have found them to be reliable and professional, no matter the location. While we may not always be thrilled with the stated wait time, we are almost always pleasantly surprised to see them arrive ahead of the stated time and whatever problems we've had have been very meticulously treated and we've been left safe and road-ready, even if just to make it to the repair shop for follow-on service. My sister's light green Nissan 2004 had a steering column get completely locked. She could not navigate it at all and called AAA Mount Pleasant Branch at around 1:30pm, August 9, 2021. The phone service was horribly lacking and took several calls in order to reach a human being. They could not provide an accurate update as to the time when the AAA roadside service would arrive.The actual tower was not on scene until 4 Hours after she called the AAA service!! He did not arrive until 4:45pm. I understand staffing may be short due to COVID-19. However, this is unacceptable!! What if something happened to her while she waited forever for the roadside service!! She is a female by herself with a broken car, you must do better AAA!! read more

This is regarding the mechanics only, not any of the front desk reps. I had brake pads replaced after they were squeaking in my 2016 civic. After pickup, we noticed the new pads were also noisy. When I called, I was told that new pads squeak for a few days after installation. Six months later we experienced the same thing, so we went to take the car in for the noise. We were informed that the mechanics found that one of the calipers were frozen and bent, and they wanted roughly $700 for the replacement and labor. We were also was informed it was dangerous to drive anywhere from their repair shop. I was surprised to hear this, since we had been driving on it for 6 months. I wasn't too sure about the mechanics diagnostics, so I took it to another shop for a second opinion. They said there was nothing wrong with the caliper, and AAA was full of it. I should note that AAA did replace the pads and rotors on the second trip, but was told that if I took the vehicle from AAA, I would void the warranty on the newly replaced pads and rotors. Beware of these scare tactics and deceptive diagnostics. read more

I was Looking for a reasonable priced synthetic oil change even though I am not a member of AAA. Their price of $59.99 for 5 quarts was extremely competitive and so I took my Mazda there. This price included a tire rotation , checking the air filter etc & all fees. I was able to make an appointment within 3 days and within 1 1/2 hours I was in and out. However once home I realized the service technician made a small mistake that required me to return the next day. Suzi the service account executive took me in right away and was apologetic and and helpful. The manager Bryant fixed the problem and discounted the cost of an additional part replacement. The people at the front counter do a fantastic job communicating the nature of the problem and offer multiple solutions. Whenever I think an estimate is too high and go price checking, AAA's price turns out to be the better than their competitors. In general, they are willing to go the extra mile for your business through solid work and incredible customer service. Today, the district manager, Will, worked the front counter and explained everything very thoroughly. Ford F150 battery died and towed to the AAA Auto Center, Mt. Pleasant. Received a call that the alternator went bad and caused the battery to be damaged, and further the oil was low, and old, and the fuel system needed cleaning and new tires were needed. There was a "special" running on the oil change. It so happens that had the oil changed in June and drove 698 miles, so I declined the oil change and the fuel cleaning and tires. When I picked it up I asked about the oil and said I had it changed recently, and was told "you must be burning oil". I drove straingt to the Firestone Shop where I had the oil changed, and inspected before I bought the truck. The oil was at the correct level and the color of honey (not old). The tires had plenty of mileage left on them (Firestone sells tires!). The bottom line, let AAA tow your car but take it to the garage you use and trust. read more

I kept getting late notifications when paid in full, my lending institutions constantly received cancellation notices. THIS MESSAGE WAS EMAILED TO AAA CAR CARE CENTER MT. PLEASANT SC MANAGER 12-31-18 WITH CONTACT INFORMATION: On Sunday 12-16-18 at 3 PM, I had to have my car towed to AAA Car Care Center in Mt. Pleasant, SC because it would not start (I have used AAA Car Care Center Mt. Pleasant for many years). It was towed through AAA Roadside Assistance of which I am a member (contracted to Jennings Towing). I called the AAA Car Care Center that afternoon and got the answering service who made an appointment for 7:30 the following morning (Monday 12-17-18) to diagnose and repair the car. Sam Lanier called me first thing Monday morning to get my authorization to run the diagnostics and ultimately to replace the starter (NEW replacement starter, NOT reconditioned). He was extremely friendly, helpful, and efficient. When I picked up the car about 12 noon that day, he said replacement of starter went well and the car was running fine. I paid the charges of $540.31 and drove off. Approximately one hour later I had been shopping and when I attempted to start my car, the same thing happened AGAIN - it would not start! Needless to say I was very angry and upset. I had to have the car towed AGAIN to AAA Car Care Center at 3 PM Monday 12-17-18. I spoke to Laura at the AAA Car Care Center service desk and she assured me the manager would take care of calling AAA Roadside Assistance to make sure the 2nd tow (due to AAA Car Care Center's faulty repair) would not count against my entitlements. It turned out the battery cables were not properly re-attached after the replacement of the starter and some corrosion had caused the connection from cable to battery to come loose which is why the car wouldn't start the 2nd time. When I picked up the car Tuesday 12-18-18, per Sam Lanier, the battery cables had been properly cleaned, repaired, and re-attached. Sam assured me AGAIN that the call to AAA Roadside Assistance would be taken care of by the manager so I would not have the 2nd tow count against me. At any rate I called AAA Roadside Assistance customer service on 12-24-18 (a week later!) at 10 AM (spoke to Susie) to confirm that AAA Car Care Center had made the call to make sure the 2nd tow would not count against my entitlements. She said she had NO RECORD that this was done but would make a note on my record after I explained that the 2nd tow was due to AAA Car Care Center's fault. Then I immediately called AAA Car Care Center (spoke to Laura) and asked to speak to the manager regarding this issue. She said he was out on a test drive but that she would give him the message and he would call me back. As of this date, 12-30-18 (another week later!) I have not received any response from you whatsoever. I would simply like to discuss this issue and my concerns with you. Because of this experience I am very disappointed and understandably I am having doubts about the level of competency at your business! I was recently travelling through SC for work and my car broke down on the side of the road outside of Mt. Pleasant. There was nothing around and I know NOTHING about cars and was really scared being alone and very upset. I let my AAA membership run out months ago but saw on Google that the AAA center was the closest car care center to me, so I called. Jennifer Crank, a service consultant, answered and was so kind! She really calmed me down and made me feel so much better. When I finally got to the car care center, she was so helpful and understanding. Never use this place for any reason. On 3 separate occasions, I have made an appointment to bring my car in. When I dropped it off, each time they said it would be about an hour. Each time, I came back two hours later and found that they had not even looked at the car yet. The worst part is that they just don't care . I've become a regular the last few months at AAA. My 9 year old Murano has been trying to die on me and they have continuously excelled at postponing its funeral for me. Be prepared for a long day. It was much longer than stated before I got my car back. In fact, around the time they were supposed to be finished someone came out to ask what kind of oil I wanted in my car! I advised them for the third time that I wanted synthetic oil. An hour later, I went to check out only to be charged approximately $30 in excess of the amount I was told prior to the oil change (the first time I advised them I needed synthetic oil so they could give an accurate cost). I was told it was because of the disposal fee. Shouldn't that have been included in the total cost when I requested the total cost up front? So beware. You will spend more time and money than you anticipate. Even if you are a AAA member. I'm not sure what I'm getting for my membership fee, but I certainly have never gotten my money's worth. read more
