One thing that, to me, is impressive is that they have a computer lab. I think it's awesome to see older generations trying to increase their skills, whether it be typing, letter writing, email, or just learning to surf the web at all. I think I saw mention of there being latin dance, hula, salsa, dancing classes, yoga and tai chi were also some other activities. I'm telling you, there is something for everyone here. They have a spring fundraiser festival coming up. That should be fun. I bought a ticket for their In n Out lunch. They have a huge parking lot and tons of regulars. Inexpensive lunches are sold here daily. One of the last trips that they offered their seniors was to Catalina. There are so many people who come here. I can't imagine where they'd go if this place disappeared. Every now and then, I help one of their computer lab instructors with computer questions. It's amazing. Some of the questions are far more complex than how do you send an email. I'm really fond of this community center. I hope it'll continue to be a stable spot in the community for the seniors to come. It is especially helpful when it becomes super hot and the elderly need a place to stay cool. GPACC does a lot of good for the folks in our community. Great!

Signing my daughter up for AYSO soccer years ago was one of the best decisions I've made as a…read moreparent and I don't say that lightly, I really mean it. The program is designed to give kids an introduction to the world of soccer where they can develop fundamental skills, have some fun and grow in their love of the game. But it's so much more. Over the years I've watched my daughter gain confidence on the field and become an impactful play maker and I owe a lot of that to her early coaches who nurtured her and encouraged her even though she wasn't the most athletic player on the team. I've since started coaching teams and it has been a deeply rewarding experience. As a family we've made friends with fellow parents and players from the community we never would have met otherwise. The low cost and open registration means the program is accessible to people from all demographics and it brings together the community around the common ground of the soccer field. As a volunteer I've seen how well run and organized it all is under the hood. There is a real focus on player safety and development. Volunteer coaches are trained on more than just teaching soccer but also on youth development and positive coaching techniques. I could go on. I can't recommend the AYSO enough, especially "Glendale Region 88", one of the largest regions in the world. My only regret is that I waited until my daughter was 9 years old to start her soccer journey, I really wish we started in their age 4 program which is fun on a whole different level. One note, their registrations do fill up early so make sure to check their site to get in the moment registration opens up. If you're late and get on the waiting list, you can almost guarantee a spot for your kiddo by signing up as a volunteer coach, which I highly recommend :)

Not only they placed her in a team where I was no part of, meaning I spent all that time in vain but the lack of consideration for kids from separated parents and their schedules is horrendous, I was vocal that she couldn't practice on Fridays, and they placed her on a team that practices on Fridays, when I voiced to Aldo the head of Region 88 that I wanted to request a change of teams (immediately after receiving the schedule) I was told no, when I asked for a refund I was told no, when I asked for solutions I got radio silence, the lack of solutions and ghosting is not what you expect from an organization this size. We ended up getting her classes on Evolve near Eagle Rock and in just two days her technique improved more than a year of AYSO. So if you want better technique and more flexibility in schedule and are able spend a bit extra $, go somewhere else.

It is hard to put into words how much this preschool has meant to our family. From the very beginning (our babies started at 6 months old), CFC has been so much more than a daycare/preschool. Our children were encouraged to learn and grow, but just as importantly, they were given a place where they felt safe, confident, celebrated, and completely at home. What makes this school truly special is its people. The teachers and staff don't simply care for children--they genuinely care about them. They know who they are, what makes them laugh, what makes them nervous, what they are proud of, and when they need a little extra encouragement. As parents, we always knew that when we left our children each morning, they were surrounded by people who knew, loved, and cherished them. (Even now, when our kids return for the school-aged summer and winter camps, CFC teachers and staff from years ago remember them, greet them by name, and make them feel like they are coming home.) Our children left CFC with wonderful memories, lasting friendships, confidence, curiosity, and a genuine excitement about school. We could not have asked for more from their first educational experience. We will forever be grateful for the role CFC and its remarkable teachers and front desk team have played in our children's lives--and in ours. From day one, we felt genuinely cared for, not only by the teaching staff and administration, but also by the church community, maintenance team, and even the kitchen staff. Every interaction was marked by warmth, kindness, and a sincere love for the children. What truly set this school apart was the sense of community. Nearly every staff member knew our son by name and took the time to engage with him in meaningful ways. It created an environment where he felt safe, seen, and valued every single day. As parents, that kind of trust and reassurance is priceless. Leaving was incredibly difficult because this school became such an important part of our lives. The team here did not just provide care, they laid a strong foundation for our son's academic, social, and spiritual development. The Chinese classes are very adaptable and they will adjust the level of difficulty based on how you are reacting to the class. The principal and the teachers are both very responsive and it felt very hands on and interactive. It felt almost like a family or community and they even made moon cakes during the Mooncake Festival. They even gave the children red envelopes with little goodies during Chinese New Year. Before Covid they would also give all the students snacks to eat every day after school which the kids absolutely loved. Overall this school was a great experience for my kid and for me, and it gives you a great education mixed with the right amount of fun and relaxation

Luckily, I was referred to FCS by another parent so I called the school and tried a few classes. I was a bit reluctant at first because they didn't have any reviews and their website looked outdated so I wasn't sure whether they were legit or not. But fast forward to today and we couldn't be happier with their progress. (Apparently the school has been around for 20 years and all their students learn about the school by word of mouth.) We don't speak Mandarin at home but my husband, whenever he remembers, will try to speak a little with them. Inspite of practically no Mandarin exposure at home, the children have a good Chinese vocabulary base to build on. They are still a bit young to put sentences together in Mandarin but we are not concerned as once they learn the concept of reading/sentence structure in school, it should click for them in Mandarin. For anyone considering a second language for their children or anyone looking for after school care which incorporate Chinese language classes, I highly recommend FCS!

The teachers are kind, knowledgeable, and communicative. They help foster crucial skills in young humans and do it with such care and good humor. The administration is warm, caring and incredibly organized. Finally, the community itself is a gem. My kids have both made solid friendships and by extension, my husband and I have too! The tasks we got to help with were joyful and out of ordinary for a 9-5 employee like me who spends most of their time in office environment. We got to take out the weeds, clean up and organize their shed and kitchen, remove unwanted bushes and more. It was a great opportunity to help a non-profit organization for a good cause and get to know good people who work there and the care and kindness they put into their daily tasks. They always welcome volunteers so if you would like to have the pleasure of helping a non-profit in a nice garden/racing-track this is the place for you. Bonus, you get to pick and take some vegetables grown in their garden at the end of your visit.

The program helping under served girls in the Los Angeles area develops confidence and leadership skills. The riding program is amazing and the results are visible through the smiles and skills developed by the girls. They also have an organic farm, a writing program, and a photography program.
