Horrible I called for my SUV to be either towed or jumped and waited over 2hrs. Thank goodness the SUV is in my garage and I'm not stranded but need to get to the dealership. I used AAA to book my 7/1/22 trip to Europe. I purchased the travel insurance and took advantage of their offer of wallet protection they offered for free. Not really thinking I'd need the insurance but just for the peace of mind. Well apparently travel season exploded and the airlines were "blindsided" by the volume. Really?? Because there are X amount of seats so how are you blindsided? Also the cost of my ticket was DOUBLE compared to pre-pandemic pricing so one would assume the costs were for bringing service up to pandemic safety levels, fuel costs and whatever needed to provide proper service for paying clients. To further ensure problem free travel I chose the high level Star Alliance group (United and Lufthansa). Well it turns out that was all for not as my baggage was lost for the entirety of my 11 day stay on foreign soil. The confusion this created ruined my stay and left me susceptible I having my phone and attached wallet lifted. So here I sit in a foreign country with no wallet, no phone, no clothes, no sundries, no gps, no electronic tickets and train passes as all backup paper copies were in my checked baggage. Thank goodness I carried backup meds on my person as I take blood thinner. When I turned to AAA they acted as if I was not a paid member! Said that the insurance I purchased didn't cover my losses and said it was up to me to call and negotiate with the airlines on my own and would file a claim for my lost luggage nor wallet. I have had AAA membership off and on for more than 15 years and learned to trust them with auto needs and service. When it comes to travel and being there when I needed them most, they really let me down and with a promise to call me back, left me to figure things out on my own. As you can imagine I needed to alter my plans and cut out visiting planned cities but could not cancel hotel reservations in Munich as mysteriously I could no longer sign onto the AAA app! I guess I can't fault them for auto service but as for travel, trust me, you're on your own. read more

My car is old. It has treated me well over the years and it still gets me from point A to point B very well for the most part. As cars age well, they tend to have more and more issues as mine is now starting to have. AAA has saved my neck on several occasions. Call a toll free number and the friendly operators will help you out at any time of day or night. They have never let me down and i have never been disappointed with any of the companies that they have contacted to help me with roadside assistance. Plus they have all kinds of other fringe benefits such as trip planning ideas, dining and lodging discounts, rental car discounts, just to name a few. I definitely get my monies worth with my annual dues. read more

If you rely on your car, drive longish distances and want to feel secure doing so - join AAA Motor Club. There are a bunch of ancillary benefits to AAA (member discounts on dining, travel-related services; good rates on car/home/life insurance). For me, they're icing. We joined for access to emergency services: 24-hour roadside assistance and towing, primarily. It was $65.50 for a regular 1-year membership, for me and my husband. There's an annual four call limit on roadside assistance usage, per member. I assure you, if you use it even ONE time, this is a great deal. I know this through hard experience. My husband has, shall we say, an unreliable car (s*it heap). He drives 30+ miles each way to work. And can I say it's unpleasant to be jolted out of sound sleep by a call from him at 5:30 am to say the car is dead, and can I look in the phone book to find a tow company. Because the first five listings in the phone book were (1) phone disconnected, or (2) couldn't send a tow truck for four more hours. The tow company that finally did retrieve the car, only three hours later, charged $150. This was no more than five miles from our house. And I had to go get my husband anyway, as he wasn't allowed to ride along. That breakdown was not a first-time occurrence. AAA is the obvious solution and my husband and I - daft though we may be - finally wised up and joined this year. My husband has already called on AAA, when clunker broke down again. He reports he waited for about an hour for the AAA guy (who'd been working nonstop for 36 hours), and that he was friendly. And no bill for $150! With regular membership, you can have AAA come to change a flat tire, boost a dead battery, retrieve keys locked in your car or deliver fuel if you run out of gas. You can be towed to an AAA service provider's repair shop, or anywhere within five miles of where you broke down. Of course, you could upgrade to the AAA Plus RV membership, which allows you to be towed anywhere within 100 miles of where you broke down. As long as we have our cars, we'll never be without AAA again. read more

Thank you for saving me in a jam, AAA. Sometimes we do stupid things and we need you to fix them. Thank you for coming to our rescue when we are embarrassed. Incident #1: Shortly after I met and began dating my lovely boyfriend, we went up to Wrigleyville to BBQ on the 4th of July. As we were getting out of the car, I noticed him standing near the closed driver's door... but the car was still on. Turns out he locked the keys in the car while it was still running! Oh, and did I mention it was about 105 degrees? So what do we do? Call AAA of course! I know they're super busy so it took about an hour for the guy to come rescue us. The service was as fast as it could have been (it was right with the representative's estimation on the phone) and the service agent was super friendly and efficient. He brought out his little puffy bag thing, pried the door open and had us in the car in a jiffy! Yes, a jiffy! It was really great. No complaints at all. Incident #2: We're at the Citibank about five blocks from our apartment. I notice, as we're leaving the bank, that I can't find my keys. Fast forward to me standing at the car: they're on the front seat. I can see them through the window. Ugh - annoying. The car was locked and I could see the friggin keys. And it was going to rain. I call AAA and they say it's going to be about an hour - NO!! I obviously had no choice, so I said send 'em over. The customer service agent was super friendly and patient with the fact that I was frustrated (I'm sure everyone who calls is insanely irritated). Best part ever: the service agent was there in about 10 minutes!!!!!!! It was so amazing!!! She was in my car in a jiffy (they're all about the jiffy!) and I was back in the car in a flash. This is a general review of AAA policy. Just got my "Welcome to AAA" packet today -- and discovered that their Privacy Policy is awful! It requires me to fill out a form and MAIL it in, to opt-out of 3rd party advertising. There is no available phone number OR way to do this on the website. I called a Service Rep tonight to talk about this, and she verified there is no way to opt out other than by sending in the form. This is just not acceptable in this day and age. Meanwhile, they have had my personal information for almost 2 weeks to spread around without my permission, and will have a few more days before they receive my paper opt-out, and a few more days before they process it. Why not a phone number? Why not allow us to do this online? Why not allow us to make this decision when we initially sign up? MOST IMPORTANTLY, why not make it a positive OPT-in for your customers, instead of me having to take my time to opt-out? This is a very UN-friendly customer policy. read more

I joined AAA for the roadside assistance. After about 11 months of being a member I needed to use the service. It was also bitterly cold outside and my family had just come from a party when we had a flat tire. I phoned the number on my card only to receive a recorded message - due to the large volume of calls we would have to try back in a few hours. What??? After we had struggled to change the tire, I sent AAA a letter and asked for a refund of membership dues since I had not received what I paid for. Instead of answering in writing, a curt woman called and asked if I wanted to endanger the people who were contracted with AAA by having them come out to change a tire in such bad weather. That was the service I was paying for and I expected the contractors to be prepared for their job. I received no refund and no service. read more
