This has got to be one of the most efficiently run operations/ offices I have experienced as a client. This review is for the DMV service option that AAA offers as a quick, no stress, time saving, hair saving( yeah and I only have 7 left) alternative to dealing with a DMV office. All included in the membership. Additional perks, benefits, bonuses and observations- * Value - for $3 a month, I have all DMV services, discounts on my auto insurance, a defensive driving class offered for a fee, roadside assistance( towing, tire service and fuel delivery, battery and lockout service),travel planning assistance, free maps, FREE Identity theft protection and free Hertz Gold rental car membership. * The communication between the staff is phenomenal. Great teamwork.. * Thank you to the wonderful and proactive manager Alice.Hats off to the methodical and kind Jim who got me in and out in less than five minutes.The accommodation and respect I got from Melvin was so warm and off the charts regarding my specific situation being a military veteran and leaving for an overseas assignment in a few hours * The line was seven deep as the door opened at 9 AM and three different AAA employees including Alice greeted us all with smiles and walked us to different counters depending on our appointment or service needed * This Garden City location is a half a mile south of Old Country Road on the south west corner of Franklin Avenue and 12th St. The entrance is from the rear. For those using AAA for roadside assistance, here are my issues: 1) I've been a "member" for 15 years; I renewed a month ago, but bought a new car that has roadside assistance for 2 years; 2) I thought it would simple to downgrade my plan from "premier" to "classic" . . . nope! 3) AAA Mid-atlantic - unlike AAA Northeast - does not provide pro-rata refunds . . . "it's a corporate rule" I was told over and over by the supervisor at the call center; 4) I also could not cancel my membership; I'm stuck with services I won't need for 11 months. 5) This is a greedy rule; 6) I had always declined roadside assistance from GEICO and USAA . . . but never again! As I learned today, it's the same level of service as AAA and MUCH CHEAPER! 7) With this auto-policy service, I can change at any time with a pro-rated reduction; 8) I cancelled my AAA auto renewal and will never use them again. Don't get caught in the AAA-renewal rut out of habit as I did; there are other strong alternatives that won't take advantage of a life change. read more

I came here two times to get my real ID & they made my life so difficult. They act like they doing you a favor for doing their job. First time they refused to help me because I didn't have an appointment when its supposed to be a walk in center which is an AAA member perk. However, they refuse to help you unless you have an appointment. You think making an appointment is easy?! Lol guess again. They want you to make an appointment online 2 weeks in advance. I think its easier to make an appointment at Garden city dmv than here. The blonde receptionist in the front is super rude. She doesnt want assist and they make every stupid rule not to assist you. I finally got my real id after fighting back and forth with them. The only positive of the aaa office is less wait time, a big parking lot and the girl who took my picture was nice. Other than that, i recommend to go to another branch. It wasnt worth the stress. I probably would of gotten better treatment at the garden city dmv on oak street. They need to provide better customer service and act like they want to help the aaa members. read more

Had a horrible 2 day experience with Carlos Pena from AAA in Garden City, NY. I was a 33 year member of AAA who needed a new battery for my car as I needed a jump the night before (Sat which I and my FDNY son did) but the battery was completely dead on Sun. I was scheduled to drop my other son, who was scheduled to work as an ecmo specialist in California and needed a ride to the airport Sunday evening. Despite 6+ phone calls to get a technican to my house I had various excuses why the job couldn't be done - not on Sunday, don't have a battery for your car, that guys out but we can do it on Monday.....When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was contacted by CARLOS PENA, a supervisor at AAA Garden City. He told me 2x's and my son 1x that the battery could not be delivered to my service area, Rockaway, NY. I put in a request after my son left Sunday night by uber ($80) hoping that the battery that was promised by my AAA contract of premier member ($373/year and 33 year member) would be done. Carlos Pena called Monday morning saying I told you this cannot be done but maybe I could jump the car and drive it to the AAA battery facility on Long Island (at least 1 hour away). When I told him after paying $373 for guaranteed service this was unacceptable to ask of a 68 year old female. I at least wanted to stop the bleeding and called to cancel my AAA membership of 33 years and get a refund. I was out when I got a phone call from another auto service company with the technican saying he was at my house with my battery!!!!! Great job Carlos Pena - you screwed the battery technician as I had to cancel his drop off as now I would have to pay top dollar as my AAA membership was cancelled. I was obviously screwed for 2 workdays as well as my son needing to spend $80 on an uber to the airport. Oh yeah, AAA was also screwed by losing a long time member who now will spend time sharing her experience and recommendation to switch to other roadside assistance. There are quite a few out there with similar coverage at almost 1/4 the price - Good Sam; Better World Club; Allstate Motor Club; Nationwide and Travelers. Also if you have any trouble at the AAA Garden City don't waste you time with Alisha Kobetz-Udin Lead Member Relations Counselor as she and Carlos Pena have the same work ethic which is to do nothing to solve a problem. This AAA branch office surprised me with excellent services and super friendly staff! I have been there twice and I am very happy about the services I received there both time. The first time I went, I took my children (age 4, 7 and 12) to take passport photos. The staff was very patient with my 4 years old when trying to position him correctly for passport photos. He took a few shots for me to select and made sure I was happy about the photo before printing them. Once we got our passport photos, the staff introduced me to all different services that AAA offered. I went back to renew my driver license on another day. Appointment was required for DMV services, however, no wait time when I got there. The staff took care of everything (including the required eye exam) very quickly and I was able to leave the branch within 15 minutes. This branch office is clean and spacious inside. It provides USB charging station for clients free of charge. Huge parking lot outside. I will definitely return to this branch for additional services if needed. read more

I came in yesterday to get new plates for my vehicle. I explained everything to the rep who then told me they didn't accept walk ins which was fine. She proceeded to tell me the available appointment dates which none worked for me but luckily I found one on my own. I made the appointment for the next day (which is today) to then be told that I need the title to my vehicle which I didn't have, but I did have all of the other required documents. This is my first time having to deal with any of this so I was not aware. I live in Brooklyn, but I work in LI so I try to handle all of my appointments out here while I have free time. It would've been way more helpful to be made aware of all documentation needed instead of just being told that no walk ins are accepted. This was a waste of my time! read more

I have never had an issue with this location or with AAA. I use them for roadside, travel and hotel discounts when needed. I recently upgraded to Gold Member status to receive more benefits. Thanks to being a Sprint/T-Mobile customer they cover my memberships dues annually. Previously we were able to pick up our discounted Disneyland tickets from here without any hiccups and today as a Gold Member I took my free passport photo. The woman who took my photo was professional and took a really good head shot of me. They offer many other great AAA services such as travel planning and EZ Pass registration. I'm so glad this location is minutes from my house and customer service is always exceptional. AAA is always there in a jiffy when I've never roadside help. No worries at all. read more

I found myself walking to my car in Rockville Centre, having just left Sugar Berry Bakery. I take a seat in the driver's seat, place my ice coffee in the cup holder, toss a bag of fresh cannolis on the passenger seat, and I turn the key to start the engine. Nada. That's odd, so I try again. Nope, nothin, yup it's dead. After a quick call to AAA, I take a big sip of cold liquid caffeine mixed with a little almond milk, I scarf down a canoli, and I patiently wait. 30 minutes, my entire ice offee, 3 canolis later and 7 games of 3-minute limit chess later, my heroic mechanic arrives. It took him less than 10 minutes to recharge my battery and get Celly (my cars name) back on the road. It's times like this where I cherish my AAA membership for the godsend it is! read more

What a complete waste of money! We have been paying AAA for years with no events, however the last couple of weeks have been telling because they refused to help us multiple times now. The first was when we were stranded at Jones Beach July 4 with our infant in the car. They drag their feet and then said we had to actually pay out of pocket for the tow. A police officer came to our rescue. The second was when we had a flat tire and they again refused to come out, leaving me stranded again with the infant for over 24 hours because my husband was not physically with us. He works 24 hour shifts. We will be canceling their useless service and save the money so we actually have it to use and call for a tow truck/ mechanic. read more

I had a very good experience here. Made an appt online to get my Real ID, made sure to bring everything I needed and got there at my scheduled time. Do not purchase their batteries! My car battery died in September so I called AAA to get a jump. They sent the technician over and he said that my battery was no good and that he had the battery I needed in his van. I paid $200 for the Battery and for the last couple weeks have had trouble starting my car. I called to get a replacement since it was under a 3 year warranty. They said no. Waited 4 hours with the car. First tow truck came and said they had to send a different kind of tow truck but it would be there in 20 minutes. An hour later nothing shows up. Spent an hour on hold with them. Then I got a call saying no one was coming. And then they said they couldn't schedule it for tomorrow morning and I would have to call back. i have been a AAA member since 1987. Today i needed help planning out a route to go from NY to Vermont as i have been having issues with my navigation. I literally was on hold for 45 minutes.I work full time and it was impossible to hang on any longer. the trip tik things use to be a 10 minute phone call. i called several different numbers and waited an additional 15 minutes for a supervisor who never picked up. All in all, i wasted an hour of my life and hung up defeated, as it was clear no human was available to help. notice how every year the fee goes up, and the service goes way down.... read more

This is a review for AAA Northeast.... which we have been a member of for years and now realize they sub contract out (Automate...Rhode Island) and the company has really changed. Car would not start and we called and after a long wait they showed up and charged our battery and car started. The man tells us he tested and our battery is not good, on our two year old car and we needed a new one. So we trusted him and $200 later he is on his way, with our Delcone battery and we have his battery from his truck. Two days later we get an email saying our battery was fine, a paper we never saw and we chose to put a new one in anyways. Why would we do this? We signed a paper on the man's phone and it was only the last page, we never were shown the first three pages and never even knew they existed! Beware that AAA is definitely not the same company they were years ago, and it's time to go elsewhere! When you call to complain about what happened they are rude and really do not care! read more

While the move to online services has made many of the things which AAA has been known for (such as travel agency, car registration renewal, etc) redundant, if you intend to drive in nearly any country outside the US, you must come here first. AAA, provided you have a membership, will issue you an international driver's license in 20 minutes. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and helpful, and while you wait there are numerous banks of seats. One thing I'd suggest is if you want a receipt for your transaction, speak quickly as the staff are so fast and efficient that they will close out your transaction before giving you one. I'd always had a AAA membership "just in case". The roadside assistance can be a lifesaver, and the hotel discounts can be surprising. Even more surprising is how great this local office is, and what they can do to improve the lot of any traveler. Stop in and see how much more your membership can get you. read more

The new location is easier to find and more convenient, it's front entrance is on the parking lot side not the Franklin avenue. Service is fast and friendly. On 10/19/2018 AAA subjected my anxious 19 year old child to a harrowing 3+ hour experience waiting on the side of a busy road due to lack of communication between different clubs. To put the icing on the cake, when the tow truck finally showed up, it was determined the tow would not be covered by AAA. This could've been avoided and corrected , had AAA stated their service conditions in the original call. Too many details to explain, long story short, I was not a happy camper when I arrived at the scene. Do not believe AAAs peace of mind pitch, do read all the fine print very carefully, because there appear to be many loopholes in that coverage. read more

Hugely disappointed....been a member for over 40 years but the robo automated service has eliminated many of the reasons you belong to a help club. Wanted to call the local Garden City office but call was forwarded to a call center, somewhere in America. Rep was clueless, asked about exchanging currency and he knew nothing about it...told us to speak to our local branch, which apparently you can only do in person. Went to AAA website, and clicked on currency exchange, their message came up for 2 seconds and then became an appeal fo you to join AAA, which we already are. Tried the same for AAA Ohio, Northeast, South... same tech glitch...message for seconds and then a new field unrelated. Typed in currency exchange in their search box, nothing came up. Hate to say it, but the reasons you joined AAA seem to have diminished...if they're going to depend on Google for much of their work, that personal touch is lost....we wound up going to Roslyn Savings Bank who said they could have the euros in one day....and a real person answered the phone. read more

I signed up for their Defensive Driver course at Homewood Suites from 9-4. I showed up 15 minutes late, and was turned away. Seriously? I ran into traffic, and took a wrong turn. I read the details on their website and email confirmation. Nowhere did it say that any tardiness would result in an ejection. I don't understand why 15 minutes would result in an ejection. I could understand if I was hours late, but 15 minutes?! Also, as I was leaving the instructor cracked a joke about my lunch box. Yes, I packed a snack and my lunch in a small cooler. No, you don't have the right to crack a joke on me after you've kicked me out of class. I got my money back, but I'm so over AAA. read more

Read policy carefully. Very deceitful. I put my husband's name and my name on the application. When I needed a battery jump they refused to come because only my husband's name was attached to the account. They told me that only one person in the family can be on the account and you have to pay double. I said fine change it to my name. We went to The Automoble Club of America to book a trip for our 25th Wedding Annaversary. My wife asked for a Disney tour. The AAA Agent said "there are too many kids on those tours". She said she had a better AAA Tour for London and Paris. We took her advice and Booked the AAA Tour. The london and Paris tour cost $ 8000. We were never told that this tour was farmed out to Collette Tours! We arrived in london on October 7th. two days before the tour began. On the day of the tour, we received a package under our door. it included the Itinerary. No where did the booklet say Collette tours, even the book that was used to purchase the tour, Collette tours was not mentioned. About the tour: Most of the people on the tour were elderly, many had canes with them. The bus used was a greyhound type of bus. It was suppossed to be a Panoramic tour. there was no way to get good photos from the bus. I expeced a tour bus and I was highly dissappointed. Also, the bus had a small isle between the seats. At every stop, It took more than 20 minutes to exit and enter the bus. When we got to Paris, we went to a cabaret for dinner and a show. the tables were close to each other. My wife accidently knocked over a small glass of wine, some of it spilled into my lap. After a few minutes, an elderly man turned to me and started to curse and yell at me, saying I spilled wine on him. The man said he would take me outside and kick my ass. When my wife started to explain, The man's wife cupped her hand and put it on my wife's mouth. The man kept yelling at me. In order to keep the peace, my wife and I left the table and went to the tour director. The tour director, Becky, put us at a table away from the group. She said she would talk to them. She never did, My wife was so upset,I felt it best not to continue with the tour, I wanted to avoid a confrontation. If we wet back on the bus, and that man or his wife would verbally assault us, It would have ended badly. While our vacation was ruined, That other couple and their friends continued their tour like noting happened. My wife was so upset, she stayed in the hotel room for the rest of the tour. After the incident, my wife called the Emergency number. It was an answering machine, she left a message. Needless to say, our needs were not addressed. I don't like the "Bait and Switch" that was used. We thought we were on a AAA tour, not Collette Tour! NEVER AGAIN ! read more
