I had an appointment at 1:00 PM on July 3, 2025 at this location to get a North Carolina State inspection. I arrived 5 minutes early but they didn't pull my car in until 1:20 PM. Typically, I've waited 20 to 30 minutes at other inspection stations. After asking what was taking so long I was told that it is normal to take an hour and half for an inspection..........REALLY!! To add insult to injury they presented me with a proposed repair order for various things for $889.01. I finally was able to leave at 2:20 PM, without agreeing to do any of the suggested repairs. I've been a AAA member for about 14 years now. I relocated from NY and I am very impressed by AAA Carolinas. I have car insurance and renter's insurance through them as well. They have helped keep my 2013 Altima running at over 129Kmiles. There are always email coupons to add savings each trip. They do a thorough inspection with photos during each oil change that has saved me a lot of money by noting service recommendations and repairs. Most recently I was unaware my torque or motor mount was loose. They alerted me and it really saved me ! So for those of you complaining about the 2 hours you spent waiting for service, it was well worth it. Many of these " 15 min oil change " places don't look at the fluids, don't put your caps back on after service! They offer complimentary LYFT services so you can return home hassle free during your service. Damon, Rick and the others are fantastic here. I'm always in and out in no time. I had bought brake pads with lifetime warranty from them. I went there to get them replaced and they told me only the front ones which they didn't think were under warranty needed replacement. When I told him they were all under warranty, he said "Let me look again." Came back and said none of them needed replacement. Crooked dishonest fraudulent. read more

I've had two awesome experiences here in the past few months! During my first visit, I came in to get a standard inspection to renew my registration and found out the tread on my tires was too low to pass. I needed to make a pretty long drive the next day and they did everything they could to find my type of tire, get them to the store and replace them all on the same day. They also covered two Lyft rides to and from my home so I could keep working while they were ordering/replacing my tires and didn't push the more expensive option on me. Really nice staff (some of which are cat people - 100 bonus points) and fast, reliable service. Highly recommend! read more

I had my car diagnosed at two different shops. The first shop charged me $180 and Aaa $150. AAA provided me a comprehensive report, including what needed to be fixed immediately (urgent), future attention, good items, tire condition. The first shop wanted $3k parts and labor and their report only listed the work to be completed. The problem they identified didn't even match the error code I had obtained prior to towing. AAA $300 for diagnosis, parts, and labor. Their diagnosis was aligned with the code prior to towing. Plus I received 3 year and 35k mile warranty. AAA is a full service auto shop, and I had a client who worked as a mechanic and all their mechanics have to attend training and be certified each level of service. Another benefit of AAA is you receive the report by email and/or text. This allows you to review the report in order to make a decision. read more

My car was brought in for an oil change and brake inspection. I was then sent pictures for an "urgent repair" just shy of $3k. After getting a second opinion is was determined the repair AAA wanted to do was unnecessary and the pictures that were sent were not a leaking rack & pinion but rather just grease from the serviceable access point on my control arm. Well they quoted me $69.99 for an alignment when I called. i made an appointment which I later had to change. When I called to reschedule they again confirmed $69.99 for alignment. They did a good job aligning the vehicle but the bill was $129.99. I complained and the manager reduced it to $105.99. Still much higher than i was quoted. They indicated that $69.99 was for a synthetic oil change which I never discussed as I do my own. This is a classic bait and switch or at the least deceptive practices. I will be using Precision tune in the future and use AAA for towing only. What a croc!! read more

I was in the store the other day for some work on my vehicle. .. and from what I can tell it was at the same time as the 1 star review amy the other day. She refused to wear her mask even after the employees asked her (very nicely) multiple times. Last time I checked, it's the governor's order, and therefore a company policy... I'm pretty sure the employees don't want to wear them 40 hours a week either. They even offered to put a chair outside for her if she didn't want to wear it (it was warm out! ) and also mentioned being able to get her a ride somewhere if she wanted to wait elsewhere! and she never once mentioned a disability to them. The employees were very sweet, and to be quite frank, the customer was being a bitch. (Rolling her eyes and ignoring them) Miss...if you don't care about the health of others, or following rules that are put in place, then just stay home next time... or take up their offer to get you out of the building. Beware! I had a yearly car inspection in which I was told everything was in great conditon....however, I was given a recommendation for 4 items totally over $1,122.68 to be done. I was told my power steering pump needed to be replaced and flushed for a total of $700.97 when my regular mechanic checked it the next day and it was CV grease that had seeped out and got on the power steering pump. Nothing wrong with the PS. I was given the scar factor of driving without power steering! This is deceptive business practices and I don't want an unsuspecting customer to be taken advantage of as I could've been. read more

The front desk team worked after their scheduled hours and corrected the problem with a brand new battery. What a disaster! Avoid AAA Auto care at all costs, and this is from a 7 year AAA member. I went to get a routine oil change on my brand new car, the first oil change. On my commute to work the next morning it smelled a bit like oil, so I read up on it, and came to believe that a bit of oil just spilled, causing the smell. I look under the hood - and to my surprise the oil cap is missing - they failed to put the oil cap back on! There are three steps to an oil change - take off cap, drain/fill oil, put cap back on. They could not even complete all three tasks correctly. I had my car towed back to AAA so they could clean the oil splattered engine, replace the cap and felt hood protector, and refund my money. They put up a fight over refunding my money, but offered my my next two oil changes for free! Like I would honestly come back here, after they mutilated my new car? On top of that they forgot to replace the felt hood protector, luckily I checked before leaving. This place disgraces the AAA name - if they cannot get an oil change and customer service correct, then don't trust them for anything else. read more

Stay away! First of all, they do not know the meaning of "appointment." I always make one because I have to wait for the car instead of dropping it off and coming back, and I usually have to get to work. So I assume an appointment will get me in at the requested time. Not here. The first time I had an appointment, confirmation email and all, they had no record of it. Today, I had a 7:30 am appointment, right when they open... but they didn't take my car into the bay for almost 25 minutes. Then, when I went to pay for my oil change, he said $102. WTF? For an oil change? He went on to say that my car has to run on synthetic oil. Well, I've never used synthetic before in the 3 years I've had my car, and after checking with a guy I know who owns the same make and does his own maintenance, he said it's not necessary. AVOID. I took my 4 year old car in for a state inspection, did not ask for anything else. The "service adviser" called and said the cabin intake filter was dirty and in need of replacement. I told her I would look at it when I got back up there, never said to take it out. When I got back to the shop it was sitting on the counter covered in leaves with little bit of dirt in the filter. Since it was already out I told them to go ahead and put a new one back. One would think a "AAA" mechanic could not screw up replacing a $10 filter especially when charging $40 to do it, but that's not the case. When I got the car back the heat/AC fan was making a god awful racket because it was full of leaves. They carelessly removed the old filter without my approval and dropped any leaves and other debris that were on top of it down inside. (mind you that is why there is a filter to begin with, to keep that stuff out) Anyone who cared about their work would have vacuumed out the area before removing a filter, and not given the car back with the fan obviously having leaves inside it. This would have been immediately obvious to whoever pulled the car out of the garage, it was really loud, but they proceeded to try to give the car back anyway. When I pointed out that before they "fixed" my supposedly clogged filter there was no leaves down in my fan motor they said they would "see if they could get them out". Then explained to me what I already told them that they had dropped stuff down in the air intake. I asked if they had ever used a shop vac and pointed out there is NO POINT in changing a filter if you are going to drop everything that was in front of the filter it behind it....that is why its a FILTER. The shop did manage to get all of the leaves back out of the fan, but I would not trust these people to touch my car again, even for an oil change. They are all about up selling services you may or may not need, but when you agree to them they do shoddy work and give the car back in worse shape than they got it. read more

My car needed a new battery (I thought) and one of my door locks wasn't working any more. I really didn't feel like driving down to Cary to the Volvo dealership - especially since I had told them about the lock on my last service and they couldn't find what was wrong. So I booked an appointment - and got one within half an hour. Pretty neat. Took my car there and described what was wrong. I was ready to wait - but since it might have been a while I was offered a free shuttle. Suzie took me back to my house and I was back to work in no time. Got a call that they needed a part - so the car would be ready the next day. No worries, I didn't have to be anywhere. Next day at noon my car was ready, everything was working perfectly and Suzie came again to pick me up. I'll be back... read more

So far they have been very helpful in figuring out what needs to be done to my vehicle. I also called on them for help locating the transmission fluid dip stick (couldn't find it myself nor could the folks at auto zone). They helped me find the location and even helped me add transmission fluid that I had brought with my funnel. BUT - the services suggestged I knew were needed. I brought the car back today, they took me home, they did the services, and picked me up no more than 2 hours later. The best part of my experience was the overall atmosphere; as I waited for my car to be taken care of, the managers, and staff were welcoming in offering me in depth detail as to what options I had, and what would work best. The waiting area is clean and tidy, free of any loud noises or "car-smells" which is typical in other car repair centers, and the availability of free snacks, coffee, and even WIFI was welcoming/calming. I was happy to also receive a complimentary shuttle ride to and from my home while the technicians serviced my car's needs. I received several phone calls updating me and keeping me in the loop on my car's needs. After the shuttle picked me up and drove me back to the shop, management and staff were so kind in explaining all the details of the work performed to get my car up and running. They even offered to show me before and after the work was performed; almost making me feel as if a part of the team. The best thing is, I was never pressured into making a decision, staff summarized my direct needs, and also pointed out possible future issues; all of which they showed and explained in great detail. I was happy with everything about my visit and will continue to have my car serviced here. All of you AAA members, keep this location on your list; the staff and management team is one of the best around. They are also ASE certified, which only adds to the level of knowledge and skills they can offer and provide. Car is running great, and this particular store made me feel so much at ease; at first, as with anyone, we all have that moment of chaos when something is wrong with our precious cars, but right when I walked in, the staff at this store were on top of my car's assessment, and explained the A-Z steps; which for me, was professional and calming. I cannot speak for reviews underneath mine, but I find that some are dated. This particular team of staff and management that they have running the store now are as professional and knowledgeable, more so than any other car centers I have been to in the triangle. Needed my oil changed. I had a $20 coupon. I drive a minivan so I'm aware that I would need more than 5 quarts (ended up needing 6 quarts). Coupon is essentially $20 off. Called at 9am and was told it would be best to make an appointment. I made an appointment for 1pm. Was told an oil change takes 45 minutes to an hour. Fine, I can wait it out. Got there and was told they were backed up due to an employee leaving for some emergency reason. They said it would be an hour and twenty minutes. No problem. I have my laptop and can get some work done. I got out of there at 3:30. It took 2.5 hours to get my oil changed. The guy helping me said he would take care of me due to it taking so long. Taking care of me consisted of only charging me $24 on a $20 coupon. Also, there were three elderly people in there with me. It was shameful the amount of up-selling and add ons they were pushing on them. One lady wanted to know why her battery was $150. Was told that was the only battery they had. She asked for senior discounts, member discounts, etc.. Finally the guy said he could bring it down but not much. If there were discounts, why didn't he give her the discounts to begin with? And the guys working up front will ignore you if they're not the ones who initially took your order. I stood in the lobby after being there an hour and a half and was ignored by 3 employees sitting at their computers. This location gives AAA a bad name. Listen to the reviews. For oil changes, I usually went to the car dealership which was conveniently located next to my workplace. Since they moved to a location no longer convenient to work or home, I thought I'd try the AAA Glenwood location and was pleasantly surprised. It was easy to make a reservation over the phone and I opted to wait for my car. There's a relatively comfortable waiting area equipped with a TV and coffee/tea/water for you. I was given an estimated time over the phone, but I should have asked again when I arrived how long it would take. If I had known it would have been more than expected, I would have opted to drop-off instead but that's on me. This location was quite busy and the staff was trying to keep everyone moving along especially during a downpour on a Saturday. I also appreciated the honest assessment on my tires and the next milestone maintenance. I'll be returning to this location. read more

I rarely give complaints about a company but I feel that people need to know what they are dealing with when they take their car to AAA. I recently took my Honda Accord (61,000 miles) to AAA for service. As a customer for over 10 years I have always trusted my car with AAA. I took my car to them at 9am and they removed and replaced my spark plugs and installed a helicoil. I then received a call at 4:30pm saying I need a new engine ($4-6000). I have always had routine service on my car and had no issues with my vehicle up until this point. They charged me $285 for the work and when I told the manager I was upset because I was never called with a price quote for repairs, like they have always done in the past, he reduced it to the employee rate of $150. I immediately had my car towed to Leith Honda where they confirmed I needed a new engine due to the work done at AAA. I have reports from Honda so AAA taking their time to repair this is unthinkable. My car was towed from Honda to AAA that same day. 3 weeks later my car remains in the parking lot at AAA with little communication from AAA. I have called the manager with no call back, been placed on hold 3 times for 15 minutes then told the manager was not in after holding for so long. I called corporate two days ago and finally received a call from the district manager who said he was going to "do nothing" to help me with my car and denied my claim and was going to close the case on it. I called corporate back and they said he could not close the case and that they would forward my complaint to the CEO. That same day I received a call from the general manager who is currently working on my case and is finally calling the technician from Honda who I have asked them to contact for 3 weeks now. It has been a fight with AAA, I will NEVER do business with them again - this includes the AAA in Durham. Very rude, unresponsive customer service, routine service ruined my engine. PLEASE think twice before taking your car here. read more

We've used AAA on multiple occasions to perform car maintenance. They're always honest and upfront about costs, and they always do a quality job. There are times where it takes them time to complete the work on your vehicle depending on how busy they are, but given that their pricing is extremely competitive and that they generally don't charge you to determine the issue you may be experiencing, it's worth the wait. Dealership service departments charge up to $150 just to figure out what might be wrong with your vehicle. If you don't like those types of surprises, stick with AAA. read more

Not happy with last service on my wife's car. Came in for an oil change and they went too far beyond that without authorization. Pulled all 4 wheels off to rotate tires (and check brake linings) which had just been rotated by Costco. So they had to undo what they did (only because she noticed it). Did unrequested battery load test and said it needed replacement. But test results showed battery exactly at spec. Said both drive belts were cracking and needed replacement. I checked both later that day and they looked almost new (definitely no cracks). Also said rear brakes and rotors needed replacement. I haven't checked that, but am highly suspect considering the other findings. Have used this place for over 5 years, but won't be coming back. read more

A win for the little guy! Triple A on Glenwood Ave told me I needed a fuel pump. After buying one and having A friend install it (saving me $400) Chris discovered I did not need a fuel pump. He found their wrench they left under my hood and a hose that was left unhooked. Unhooking the hose meant that the light would remain on after My friend installed the new fuel pump. We would then have to go back to them and they could blame My friend. Thankfully My friend is smarter than that. I gave AAA a phone call and spoke to the person who actually did this. After several minutes of discussion he finally agreed to reimburse me for the fuel pump that we had bought. He never admitted what he was doing, but it was obvious. Do yourself a favor and do not let Wayne or Glenn from AAA on Glenwood Ave work on your car. Always stand up for yourself! read more

I took our van in for an intermittent noise in the left front, mainly when turning. I described the noise and said that I felt it may be a wheel bearing. The shop had difficulty hearing the noise when they drove it, but then said they were able to hear it and that I need a the power steering pump and steering rack replaced because the rack was leaking. I asked if they were sure that was the cause of the noise and they responded that they were. I had never had a problem with a low power steering fluid level, but I believed them. I explained that I wanted to put as little money into the van as possible and only fix what was really necessary for safety reasons because the van has 260K miles on it. They assured me that this was the problem and that it was critical that I fix it. After paying them almost $1,500, the noise returned within a day. After a few days it was even worse than before. I took the car back and this time they said that it was actually the wheel bearing and cv axle that needed replacing at a cost of about $800. They explained that noises are hard sometimes and you just have to try things to see what it is. They couldn't explain why they tried the most expensive option first instead of the less expensive or why they had not told me that they were only guessing that this was the source of the noise. I told them that I was very unhappy because if I had known that I might end up having to spend $2200 fixing the problem, I would have probably not fixed the van. They said the best they could do was take $100 off the labor cost. I picked up the van, took it to another repair facility. When they could not hear the noise the first time, they said they wouldn't even try to fix it because they didn't believe in taking a shot in the dark and guessing, but that I should bring it back immediately when it started happening again. The noise returned a week later, I took it back to them and once they heard it, the said that it was the wheel bearing. They only needed the replace the wheel bearing and the hub, the cv axle was fine. They said that after hearing the noise, there was no way it could have been the steering rack or power steering pump, they just wouldn't make that kind of noise. I feel that AAA Car Care Center, took a shot in the dark, fixed a minor thing that was broken (the leaking rack) just to be able to run up a bill. I could have handled a leak by just making sure it didn't run out of fluid ... I did that with an oil leak for years!! I DO NOT recommend AAA Car Care Center. read more

Had my car towed to this location with transmission problems, Glen was polite and helpful and said they would call me back the next day to let me know for $99.99 diagnostics. When he called back he told me that they wanted to send my car to "a transmission" shop that would take apart the transmission to replace a sensor that had possibly built up "gum" on the inside. He stated that the transmission could be fixed for $1800 with parts and labor. I wrote down his exact part descriptions, looked up the information online, and then called the dealership when I could not find the part he was talking about. Tom over at the dealership actually laughed at the suggestion that there would be a sensor that would cost $1800 to replace. I called Glen back at Glenwood AAA to ask for specific parts and details about what they were going to do to my car and he said he had no knowledge of exact part numbers or knowledge of what had to be done specifically, when I told him that the sensor did not exist he blamed that information on the "Transmission" shop and said that it wasn't his fault for relaying that information. Can you imagine a company wanting that MUCH money and NOT having any idea what is actually being done to your car for that amount?? You can put a brand new transmission (out of the factory) in for $2000 ... If I had not had my car towed to the Kia dealership to find out that the computer needed to be reset (no damage at all) for $50 and that my car now runs in perfect condition, I would have paid these crooks $1800+ (not including Diag) to replace a part that didn't even exist. If you go to this location ($84 to tow it there), make sure to do your research on what they tell you, or you'll pay another ($75) to tow it away from people clearly out to take advantage of people who don't know what to look for. I was very impressed. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the lack of noise and motor oil smell. That made sitting there much more bearable. They also have internet access and a childrens play area. The one thing I liked the most was that AAA members can make an appointment from 730a-10a to have your car serviced. I made an appoint for a 730a oil change and inspection for new tags and I was out by 820a! And being the thrifty person that I am I really like that AAA members get a discount off all parts and labor and there is a free shuttle to take home and pick you if you do not want to wait. I was happy with my old mechanic shoppe but I think my pocket book and my watch will be happier here :) read more
