Family owned and operated! Don't let the slightly grungy exterior/interior turn you away! I first came to Ernie Lee's in 2006 due to the convenience of location for me and I'm glad I did! When you pull up, the exterior appears to be slightly run down especially when compared to newer chain type centers. And the inside isn't much different. But don't let the look fool you!! These guys are honest, priced decent and have great customer service. The waiting area consists of a small table w 4 chairs some stools at the counter and a bench outside. They offer free wifi and have a TV in their small waiting area usually set on WRAL. There are some drinks and snacks that you can purchase as well as coffee. If you want free bells and whistles this may not be the place for you. If you want great, affordable service and care then stop in and check it out for yourself. Because it is family owned most of the same people have worked there since I've been coming here. Theresa, who works the front desk, is super friendly and always has a smile on her face. Ernie Lee and his crew always go above and beyond to make sure my car is taken care of. When I go for an oil change they will do things like fill my tires, put in a break light, headlight or windshield wiper for free (I provide the parts). He is always honest and I have tested this against others. Being a female that knows nothing about cars the integrity of my mechanic is of upmost importance! Used to be a great place, owner is a good guy. Front desk people are tool bags. Oil change when from 50 dollars to 100 when all of them were hired. Got 5 of them in there at a time twiddling there fingers. Went in today for alignment appoint set at 1:30 told me an employee was on a transmission and couldn't get it done till the end of the day. What the hell is the point of setting an appointment if it isn't honored. Gone here for years, but this is the last straw of many. Won't be going back. And I suggest you don't either. read more

This is the place to take your Tesla (or other EV) I've been taking my non-EVs to Earnie Lee's for years and I've always had fantastic service. While EVs don't require as much maintenance, I've found that when they do, the Tesla Service Center experience is hit or miss, and often slow because the cars have grown in popularity faster than Tesla can expand service capability. I had a suspension issue with my Model S that was both caused by and unable to be fixed by the Tesla Service Center. So I brought it to Ernie Lee's and after a brief ride along, Cameron knew exactly what the problem was and they had it back to me in a day or so, good as new. So my non-warranty EV work is coming here from now on. I can't recommend them highly enough. read more

I called Ernie's and was able to schedule an appointment a week out. Due to my issue I took it to the dealership since they got me in sooner. I opted to have my vehicle repaired by the dealership just because of ease. If I was able to easily get my truck to Ernie's after receiving the diagnosis I would have done so! I bring my vehicles to Ernie lees for every single oil change , every single year. I bring every vehicle and my Harley for an inspection every single year. For the past 3 maybe 4 years this particular vehicle has been the same every single year......... I have literally sat and had long in depth conversations about my motorcycle , past work , cars , and just about everything under the sun with the employees especially EL. It baffles me How every single year I go through the same conversation with the same person I've literally stood and talked to the past minimum 2 years. Not sure of his name but a younger fellow with glasses. I know we live in a busy world but it would seem after so many visits , so many conversations with the same person , employees would remember customers and vehicles to long time patrons........I've had the same vehicle with the same window tint for about 4 years now yet every single time I come before the tint is even checked literally the exact same guy that I stand and have convos with never remembers from year to year and every single year he comes over to give me this spill about window tint. I get that you have to let ppl Know but I literally come here every year for the inspection I don't change window tint from year to year , you see my plates say retired leo so obviously I'm going to keep it legal and if I weren't I sure as heck wouldn't go to the dang inspection station down the street from my home where I send all my friends , relatives and even my own children now that they are driving. Pay attention to the customers . EL remembers me every single time I go get the younger guys never seem to be as friendly or personable. As with everything else the younger generation is really making me rethink my choice of where to get my vehicles serviced. Again you have to protect yourself as a business but I've never gotten special treatment nor have I asked for it but I am a loyal customer so it would be nice not to have the same conversation with literally the same person each time I come. When I sent my oldest son it recently I wasn't real impressed with the customer service either. Another young man , about my size , bald head was a bit short with my son which I didn't appreciate. I come to Ernie lees bc it feels like a community and is normally very welcoming. The young man with long dreads who pulled my vehicle in was super nice , the lady at the register was super nice. I'd say some work on your personalities and tone. The way you approach customers and tone in your voice when speaking to them can make all the difference. Also try to familiarize yourself with locals. I literally live 1.5 miles from el's..................anyway . I ordered tires online and this place was the closest installer listed, so I had my new tires shipped here for installation. I was very impressed by how fast they were, and the price to install 4 tires was very reasonable and cost less than I thought it would. No way would I use them again, took my 1981 corvette in for a tuneup, went to leave after the work completed and heard this awful noise, turned around and took it back, the mechanic came out and stated, I did hear that , well why would you send out out as fixed? Hear they took it back to see what the noise was, they didn't put the fly wheel cover back in place and the fly wheel was hitting the pan!!!
