Where do I start? I've been here multiple times, and not once have I left completely satisfied. I never leave reviews anywhere, but this place is so bad that I felt compelled to tell the world to avoid this place at all costs. Seriously, you'd be better off letting your idiot cousin Germaine work on your car--at least he's less likely to try and rip you off. Trip #1: New Tires I went in for some new tires because mine were getting pretty bald after quite some time. I dropped off the car and they told me I needed to buy four new tires, which is what I expected to hear. I didn't have time to research used tires and preferred new ones anyway. The employee on the phone acted like it would all be taken care of no problem, but of course he didn't want to talk cost with me. When I got back to pick up the car, he smiles and pretends like it's all good, still not telling me what the cost is. He decided to order some of the most expensive tires and with the most expensive warranties--without consulting me first--then tried to charge me for them. I did not OK him to order tires that expensive or tack on expensive warranties. So, he had to cancel the order after I told him I wasn't paying that much, then he had to order the tires that I wanted with the warranties that I chose, which should have been done in the first place. Ordering expensive parts and adding unwanted warranties without the customer's permission, then handing them a bill? That's great customer service! Trip #2: Oil Change The oil change itself went fine, but they remembered me from my last trip with the tires. They suggested that I get my windshield wipers looked at, too. When I told them that sure, they could look at them, but do not order or buy anything without asking me first, they literally started to mock me. The fat boy up front leaned back to get the attention of his coworker, saying, "You hear that? Don't order anything without this guy's permission!", while they were literally laughing at me as I stood at the counter. I'm a patient person, but I should have walked out right then and there. I've never seen such disrespect from a business toward their customers. Trip #3 (Final Trip): The Mystery of the Power Window I originally went in to have my battery checked, because I believed it was dead. After it was checked, they confirmed it was dead and that I needed a new battery. Of course, they get very aggressive about wanting to take care of it, no problem. They wanted to order a new battery without asking me if I was OK with the price first. I told them to tell me the price first, which they reluctantly did, so I went across the street and found the same one $50 cheaper. I brought the car in to have the battery replaced, which went fine, but on my way home, I noticed my passenger-side power window wasn't opening. I know for a fact that it worked before I brought my car into the shop, because I drove there with my windows down. Now I have to make another appointment to bring the car back in, which was the last thing I wanted to do after just having to deal with them all day. A week later when I'm able to bring the car back in, they told me that a circuit board "went bad" and that it needed to be replaced, and that they can fix it for the low price of just $400. So you mean to tell me that my window was working fine before I dropped the car off to AAA, and when I get the car back it's all of a sudden not working but you can fix it for $400? Very, very suspicious. I told them heck no and took the car back. Here comes the best part. On the drive home, I tested my windows again, and the passenger-side WORKS now. Somehow, these idiots messed up my window when they replaced the battery, tried to charge me $400 to fix it, then somehow accidentally fixed the window when they took another look at it. They had no clue that they accidentally fixed my window after asking me to pay $400, not including labor. Rant over. AAA loses me as a lifelong customer, finally. I should have gone elsewhere much, much sooner. Don't make the same mistake I did--avoid this joke of a shop. read more

On Monday June 30th I called for AAA for assistance. The call was around 5:15PM, the tow truck did not arrive until 8:10PM. My vehicle was towed to your Service Center in Huntersville, NC. The next day, I received a call from the Service Center. We specifically disgust, and I was guaranteed, no work would be done on my truck until, it was identified what the issue(s) was and I would get a phone call from the Service Center with an estimate. I was concerned it was the coil and had every intention of fixing the issue (whatever it was) myself once identified. The Service Center did not touch my vehicle on Tuesday. Wednesday the Service Center called me and informed me they are having problems figuring out what the issue is with the truck and could I "explain" to them what happened, again. On Thursday late afternoon, the Service Center left me a message stating my truck was fixed! I did not get the message until today (Monday July 6th), because it was left on my work phone. I was informed the Ignition Control Module was replaced (I could have done myself), the distributor was replaced (I could have done myself) and the spark plugs were replaced (I could have done myself). Total cost $1,066.00!!!!! I am furious! I could have purchased every one of these parts much cheaper ($196.00) than you charged, and did all the work without your labor costs. When I addressed my concerns with the store manager he stated arrogantly: "I will take all the parts off and you can pick it up tomorrow". I took this as a threat and replied, "Take the parts off and I will come get it tomorrow" read more

I am very angry and disappointed in the integrity of AAA. I took advantage of a $14.95 oil change coupon offered. The service technician at the front desk made a really hard sell for an upgrade to the "recommended oil for my vehicle," explaining the coupon still worked to give me a $25 discount, and I'd be paying only $10 more (plus tax) for the synthetic oil. I asked if this oil was different than the original, lower priced. He said yes, the more expensive one was synthetic and thus had different qualities and additives, and would allow me to go 6000, rather than 3000 miles between oil changes, as well as prolong the well-functioning of my engine, in the long run. Countering my better judgment, I finally agreed to the upsale. I know that many of the additional services offered at an oil change are unnecessary. Not damaging, but also not at all critical to the performance or longevity of the parts. Examining the invoice, I confirmed that the oil used was, in fact, no better, or different, but "engine oil conditioner." The basic oil itself would have been the same, the upcharge was for additives that are not "recommended by my vehicle's manufacturer," as I was told. As a AAA Plus member since 1998, Platinum in 2016, I trusted AAA service would be better than snake oil salesmen. However, I will not be going back to AAA for service. A refund would be greatly appreciated. read more

I am utterly appalled by the behaviors I witnessed today while waiting in the Huntersville Car Care facility for my car to be serviced. The 'boys' running the front counter were completely immature and disrespectful to several customers, two women in particular, who were concerned about the details of their vehicles. Not only did these 'boys' mock these women as they turned away but continued to laugh, roll their eyes and make hand gestures behind their backs. They had no regard for them or other customers that were in the store. I have been coming to this location for years and never witnessed such immaturity, unprofessionalism and down right disrespect from employees here. One in particular, a short- dark haired Male, I believe named "Will" was outright rude and condescending to an elderly gentleman and his wife. Now, I don't know exactly what the man's concerns were but Wills actions toward this couple were just awful. He continuously interrupted the gentleman with explanations of why its "not his fault" and why its "company policy" with a very noticeable agitation in his voice dismissing everything this gentleman said. I sat here for almost 45 minutes watching these men (boys) goof off. Not once did they seem to care who was watching. They are so full of themselves acting like such Neanderthals! I will not be returning to this location, nor will my family. I will be writing a letter of concern to their upper management department as well. This is NOT acceptable. read more

Roadside assistance guy boosted my battery. Indicated battery was good but go into the charging station to have the battery fully charged. First time ever hearing that as traditionally you simply let the car run for a period of time, but I moved forward with his advise. Upon arriving was told that the battery was in good shape and charging would take 1 hour. Approximately 20 minutes later was told that the battery needed to be replaced. Needless to say they also use the this to drive customers to their store for cross-sell opportunities (i.e. for insurance and other products) Just proceed with caution ...never let your guard down... ask for your old parts... go into the garage and watch them conduct the test on YOUR car. read more

I came in to have the tire patched on a busy Friday morning. Although the day was already packed with appointments they were able to squeeze me in. When I returned to pick up my car they were kind enough to tell me their concerns about a possible oil leak. I was given great instructions on how to follow up and continue checking the situation. I always go to AAA Carolinas in Huntersville for all my car needs. They have nice staff who are always helpful and explain things well. I get coupons in the mail almost every month for services that I need anyway. Plus you get a discount for being a AAA member. I went to AAA Auto Care in Huntersville as I had a dead cell in my battery. My battery kept dying on me, and I was headed north to extremely cold temps, and wanted my battery replaced under their warranty. Gave my keys and went into waiting room which offered hot chocolate and coffee and was clean. I saw them bring my van in and run some tests on the battery I assumed, as the front of the van was out of my line of vision. They drove it out, so I went to the front to find out what was done. She said she thought the battery was replaced, but would find out when mechanic turned in my papers. He walked by, tossed her the folder, and told her to get the serial numbers. For real? He just replaced the battery and is now making the front desk girl go out to my van and pop the hood to get the serial number? I asked her and the other man behind the desk if it was a new battery, and was assured it was. I had asked to have my inspection done, so asked about that. Was told yes, and paperwork was on my seat. I asked if they sent in electronically, and was told all I needed was on my seat. I did pop my hood to double check the battery and it was new. The paperwork on my seat included a fee for E-service, so assumed it has been sent in electronically. They couldn't tell me that? In short, they did what I asked for, but I felt like a second-class citizen and did not feel informed at all. This in contrast to the very excellent service I received the previous day at Honest-1 Car Care in Mooresville. I won't be back to AAA unless I need to because of the battery warranty and suggest others look for a more efficient and friendly place. read more

Not really happy this time around for an oil change. They told me I had a nail in my tire with a slow leak that could not be fixed and it had to be replaced by a new tire. Along with that, I got a quote for 4 tires for over $400. I took the tire to the place I originally bought them from and they told me the nail didn't even go through and it only needed air. I felt I was being cheated by AAA and not given the best advice. read more

Check engine light came in on my car, so I made an appointment and took it in to get checked out. Turns out it was a pretty simple fix (albeit not cheap), and they could get me in right then. I was told it would be an hour and a half. I waited in the lobby, and was told they would come get me when the car was ready. I went to ask at the front desk after waiting a little over 2 hours, and my car had apparently been ready for 40 minutes, but no one had bothered to tell me. They fixed the problem, so that was good, but I was a bit frustrated at having my time wasted. read more

Probably the worst experience I have ever had as an adult. The entire experience was horrific. Representative basically lead me to believe I would know something the next day and would call me. I would have to call them at the end of the business day just to be told the same thing over again. Looking back, my car was in a long line and almost took them a week to get to it. They totally took advantage about my lack of knowledge concerning a car's cooling system and found out after the fact, they definitely took me for a ride. Initially, told me my radiator was damaged, finally told me it was definitely clogged, then made me believe the water pump was bad too. After talking to friends in the industry, I now know I was deceived (due to the reason I was given about needing the water pump replaced; very expensive on a German car). I never expected this from AAA. My experience was something I would have expected from a back woods garage shop. Also, after the fact, I learned that the parts and labor was exactly what the dealership would have charged, therefore, you definitely are not saving money by going here, even after my 10% discount. I would have paid more to deal with another repair shop. Beware!!! read more

After two days with a flat tire (in a safe place) during inclement weather, AAA told me that no one could assist me due to serving stranded members first and then due to road conditions. I was then told that the service provider was coming from approx. 40 miles away after I complained the roads were clear. I am in a suburb of Charlotte, Gastonia, Lincolnton, Mooresville... cities much closer to my location. After over 3 phone calls and several call escalations, no one could help. Finally, a supervisor who could not make sense of their 40 mile away provider dispatched a provider closer to my location. Just my experience: Unreasonable means and arguments just to get service. Not the first time they have not made sense to me, leaving me completely baffled and having to make numerous calls to get someone to understand something makes no sense before getting action. Leaves me wondering what I've been paying for since 2000 for myself and for three other family members. Bottom Line: I'm now searching for a new roadside assistance company... read more
