my experience with Lake Norman Hyundai last Monday was phenomenal. Richard Marsh, the sales rep who greeted me and my friend when we walked in, was absolutely wonderful. No push, just information and he answered a ton of questions patiently and cheerfully. He was really awesome. Turned out that going in for information and leasing a car was absolutely in the plan and that subject was thoroughly discussed, pros and cons. Everyone from the manager to Richard to the finance guy were patient and wonderful. I had purchased a Hyundai Sonata, '08 I think, back in 2010 at Lake Norman Hyundai and I had an extremely positive experience over the years with that vehicle and the dealership, et cetera. I love my car and I love the fact that I can message Richard or call is right there to help even after the deal is done the papers are signed. I made an appointment with him on Wednesday to go up and go over the myriad of features in the car and he spent two hours with me, sitting in my car out front of the dealership going over absolutely everything. read more

It's been three months since the last time I was at this location. After I wrote the initial review, the owner had called me and definitely didn't give me any vote of confidence that anything was being handled. If anything he made it seem like I was being unreasonable because I wanted my car to look the way it did before they damaged it. They were supposed to have ordered another new part since the last one had scratches on it. It was supposed to be in within a month. I've never heard another word. I've given up on this location. They damaged my car and it seemed like an inconvenience to make it right. Absolutely do not recommend. I will literally drive 17 miles today to go to another Hyundai dealership, because these guys are clearly inept. read more

Lake Norman Hyundai appears to be transitioning to an AI-based system for handling service appointments rather than using live staff. Unfortunately, this made rescheduling a warranty appointment for my wife's car far more difficult than it should have been. After multiple attempts to reach a real person--including two voicemails by AI and five separate calls over a 24-hour period--I was unable to connect with anyone directly. Instead of receiving a call back, I finally got a text for the reschedule. No call, no apology for the hap hazard way their AI system is working. This process was frustrating and would have caused me to miss the original Monday appointment while waiting for a response. If this continues, I will strongly consider taking future warranty work to another dealership. Very disappointed with the current level of service. read more

I had to replace the battery 5 days after taking delivery and was told nothing can be done. Then I had to move bills around to make a payment on my car I traded in 3 weeks after trading it in because "the bank didn't sent us the funds to pay it off yet". read more

I've dealt with Hyundai several times and I went in for an oil change was charged more than what the original price would have been at $89 I understand it's parts and labor also you don't have to call me to let me know my cars ready WHEN IM STILL IN THE F#%ing building cause I may end up blocking the next person who calls me from the service desk in the back read more

This will not be my first review. Did anyone inspect the vehicle?? My tonneau cover does not open all the way. I took it to Benson Hyundai near me and they have ordered part. They said that Hyundai sent out a Technical Service Bulletin in December providing instructions to inspect. Apparently your staff did not do so. read more

I understand that this service center is extremely busy, and I don't expect my vehicle to take priority over others. However, clear and honest communication should still be a basic standard of service. Throughout this process, communication was extremely poor. We left numerous messages through the AI system, and never received a single call back. The only way we were able to speak to a live person was when we physically went to the dealership. When we did speak with staff, the information we received was often inconsistent or inaccurate. Timelines for parts and repairs repeatedly changed, and it felt like answers were given just to appease us rather than to be transparent about what was actually happening. This made it difficult for us to plan accordingly and made this experience unnecessarily stressful. While rental reimbursement is offered, not everyone can afford to cover the costs of a rental up front for an extended period-- especially when repairs take significantly longer than originally quoted; if the dealership is not prepared to work on the vehicle immediately, they should've notified us, allowing the opportunity for us to keep our vehicle until they were ready to do the repairs. Who knows how long our vehicle sat their idle while we are paying our rent, food, and bills money for a rental. I understand it's not the dealership's fault that we can't afford it, but that should be taken into some form of consideration as part of the customer service. Leaving this review wont change anything; this dealership will continue to interact with its patrons as it always has. I know my opinion matters not, but you sent me the email and asked for my opinion. So this is my opinion of the service that was provided to me. I think that the dealership is disorganized and overwhelmed. I think that the dealership should be more organized and have sufficient parts in stockand schedule vehicle repairs rather than a " drop your car off and we'll get to it when we can" system. Was not sure if I was supposed to get out of car or not. not consistent on process. appointments are over stacked. takes over an hour for regular service. get email and text about $200+ service needed on a 14 month old car. car was already being washed at that point. I don't like upsales. within 3-4 minutes of text, Macy called me back to go. Macy was friendly and professional. Not satisfied at all with seating options. especially since I am in there nearly 2 hours during work time and need work space. this time all 3 seats just inside were taken and all seats in the lobby were filled with others walking around. read more

I came in for a routine oil change and was asked if I wanted a tire rotation as well. I stated no just the oil change. After about an hour AnaCarina came out with a repair estimate sheet that totaled work over $2,000. I was beyond upset especially when I found out that after being there an hour, the oil change still had not been completed. We waited for over two hours just to get an oil change. I did not ask for these other things to be checked and it should not have taken over two hours to complete a routine oil change. All the staff was very friendly, though. read more

Had to go to Lake Norman Hyundai for my oil change in my Ram 1500 because I bought a maintenance package through a different dealership and was told I could go there and they would honor it. I arrived with my truck and pulled into the service lane and one of the advisors or managers came out and was talking to me and proceeded to ask "do you know this is not a dodge dealership? At the beginning it was great. They worked with the bank to get me approved for a vehicle. Come to find out a vehicle that should not have been listed for sale as it had an active recall on it, bad starter and battery. They said the car would be ready 3 days later, but explained it was at chevy getting the recall work this was on a Thursday.. On Monday the following week I still didn't have the car. They said it was back from the chevy dealership they were replacing the battery and stater.. It would not pass inspection. I called Wednesday they told me told me it would be ready at 6pm. I told them I would have a ride out there and be there at 4:30. when I drove the hour plus to get there and arrived at 4:30 the car was on a lift they had not even really started working on the car. It had not been to detail ( still covered in stickers from previous owner) and still had not passed inspection. They said we will get it fixed and delivery it in a day or two.. I was ok with this.. Then every other day they said it was gonna be ready.. they told me on Saturday it would be ready Monday.. They needed to get it processed before month end. I told them Monday wouldn't work for me.. They said let us bring you the paperwork and get the down payment Sunday.. Well get the car to you Tuesday then.. I said I want to drive it before I Sign.. They called Monday said everything was good they needed the downpayment so they could bring everything to me to sign and del.. I gave them the info over the phone. Tuesday on expected delivery day.. Car still would not pass inspection. had some code that wouldn't release from computer at 6:15 they finally headed my way... arriving at 7:30pm.. Car was leaking fluid all over bottom of car, and guess what not a single person I had dealt with was available to talk to me.. I got someone on the phone explained the car was leaking coolant and possibly transmission fluid. Should probably not be driven back to the dealership. I had a mechanic at the house to check the car. He put it on our lift and took lots of pictures of it for me. I sent it back and today I waited for a call from someone after asking repeatedly for them to call me.. at 2:30 I finally called the owner who offered no apology and when i asked them to credit the down payment back he told me they could mail me a check in 10 business days.. Then he told me to dispute it with my bank.. Who does business this way! I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.. Yes they got me approved but what would it have cost me if I wouldn't have had someone to look at the car on my side and they have no ability to communicate period. So after a huge runaround I am now calling the bank to dispute a charge and make sure no one else makes the same mistake.. read more

I would give a 5-star if not for the post service care. The staff is great to get the vehicle in for service and keeping informed when it is done. But after service is complete I am expected to pay and pickup my keys at the front desk. Had to go to the back service area to find that out. There is no interaction of the Service Advisor to give an update of the vehicle and issues/future service schedule before hand off for payments. After payments would be nice to know where the car is parked. Front desk basically said somewhere outside and sent me off searching the very busy parking lot to find my car. Thankfully the Horn feature on the car fob helped locate it. read more

I just left the dealership, with so much disappointment. I've had issues with the headrest in my 2016 Equus. They can explode(separate). I had one replaced March of 2024(driver side) and this year the passenger side repeated the issue. I had seen where headrest with other makes of cars had the issue with a defect with AHR. I contacted Hyundai Corp, they sent an inspector to inspect and diagnose the black box. They said not a problem found. The dealership I think should had said this is your second one within year let's assist with the problem, but they didn't. They gave no compensation of help with the full price of the repair. What's so bad I was a regular customer until today!! read more

My wife brought the vehicle in for complimentary service (oil change). She was told that the cabin air filters should be replaced and agreed to have that done. The bill for this... $250. Absurd. We replaced our Kona with a Tuscon. The sales department was very efficient, the financing side not so much. It took them forever to enter anything into their new system which I get . But somehow they created 2 contracts which makes it impossible to get service at another dealer which is a problem since we split our time between two locations. Trying to correct this has been a nightmare. We finally got Jeremy, a manager, on the phone who told us they had corrected this and for our Florida servicing department to call Hyundai Finance and d find the person they supposedly corrected the issue with. He was unwilling to take ownership and see the problem through. I hope the owner reads their reviews and realizes how much good will is lost because of his teams poor training on systems and his leaderships unwillingness to take ownership and fix the problem. Passing the buck to the owner and a different dealer is not "fixing" anything. read more

My wife and I went to look at the available new cars on the lot just before opening, and were well greeted. Then it went bad in a hurry. The salesperson "assigned" to us was Stephen, who was very short with us, seemed to not have any customer service skills, or answers. He asked for $500 " promise" money before looking for a vehicle that would match our needs, and refused to go any further with the process until we agreed to those terms. At which point we got up to leave, when he thought we were out of earshot, he says We don't need your business anyway." So thanks to Stephen, not only will Lake Norman Hyundai not receive our business, I will be more than happy to steer other customers away from this particular business. The people at that dealership treat everybody like family. Buying a new car is never fun. It's great looking at them and driving them, but in the end, you never pay what you think you are going to pay. I knew they wouldn't budge from the listed MSRP, but it was a bit of a shock to not see an additional $3k tacked on until we were signing the final paperwork. All through the process, we're told "we'll give you this, we'll give you that". Like "we usually give 3 yrs of free oil changes, but we'll make it 6 years just for you", then to see this mysterious $3k appear on your paperwork with no straight answer as to what, exactly it was for. I'm sure the 6 yrs of "free" oil changes is in there. But again, all dealerships do it, and with the way cars move these days, a buyer has no room to negotiate.
