AAA keeps opening and closing offices, and this was my first visit to the one in Menlo Park. Entering the parking lot, I was surprised to see that all the spots were marked for Boeing; I had to go through the alley and around the building to find the AAA parking lot. I recommend you take the second driveway. Upon entering the building a greeter welcomed me and entered my information and I waited only a short time for DMV services. It was an easy transaction and the service was professional and quickly completed. It's far better than going to the DMV. Unfortunately they can't renew driver's licenses. AAA does a good job of helping drivers with maps and towing services, the primary reason I've been a member for many years. I recently had to call for a dead battery, and they arrived sooner than I anticipated and got me going very quickly. I don't use these services very often, but have always gotten the help I need. Membership is definitely worthwhile. read more

Warren is truly as good as it gets. You hope never to need insurance, but when you do, you want someone like Warren in your corner. I've been with Warren since 1992 for Car and 2005 for home, and I've only ever been glad to work with him. Warren had proactively worked with us on the best coverage plans and rates over all the years I've known him, and when I was involved in a very traumatic accident in 1994, he and AAA took extremely good care of me. I believe you get what you pay for in most things, and with Warren I feel like I get an incredible value. Great premises, free coffee while you wait, although usually I have been served before I get chance to drink it. The DMV services alone are worth paying the membership to avoid having to go to the DMV office, although sometimes the staff aren't really sure what they are doing. read more

Three weeks ago, I mailed an application for an International Drivers License to the AAA Menlo Park office. Two weeks go by, and I've heard nothing. So I call them, and they say they do not have the forms needed to get International Drivers Licenses. They ask me to come in, to get my application, and take it to another AAA location. But another voice in the background says they should get more forms on Friday, so they will keep my application till then. So on Tuesday I call them. They say they never got the forms, and ask me to come in, get my application, and take it to another AAA location. I ask if they can mail my application. They say it will go by internal mail, and will take a long time. They seem to be unaware of FedEx or similar express mail services. So I have to drive to their office, in the middle of my workday. They just seemed incompetent and clueless. read more

I went to the AAA office in Menlo Park for a home and auto quote. I requested someone that spoke Spanish. I waited for about 15 minutes for an agent to come help me. Unfortunately I was sent over to an agent by the name of Norma. Although she was some what helpful I found her a bit arrogant/flirtatious and that made me very uncomfortable due to the fact that she paid more attention to my husband and what he was looking for in our auto/home insurance. She completely disregarded my presence and I felt as if though she was being very unprofessional and rude. If you are looking for an agent in Menlo park I do not recommend going with Norma. read more

Just tried to do a quick DMV task at the Menlo Park AAA. Showed up and the doors were locked 10 minutes before closing time (2pm). The employees -- visible through the door -- were just B.S.-ing and kind of shrugged to let us know they wouldn't be helping us. 40 minutes of my weekend wasted driving to/from because these people couldn't be bothered to keep their posted hours. read more

Not many parking spaces here which is ironic for an automobile association. You have to park on the south (Palo Alto) side of the building as the parking lot on the north side is for another business. When the spaces are full, you can parallel park alongside the AAA building. Inside, there's a greeter at the desk who will get you on the waiting list for a service rep. There appear to be different lists for insurance vs. "member services." At mid-afternoon on a Monday there were about 6 people ahead of me on the member services list. There's a video board with the list displayed (first names only) with estimated wait time, which for me was 20 minutes. Unfortunately, it seems that people coming in after you can get ahead of you on the list somehow. A lady ahead of me became agitated when two people who came after her went ahead of her. She was only there to pay a AAA bill so a staff person who heard what happened took her check. I think one guy got ahead of me on the list. This is quite aggravating. Once I got to the member services agent everything was efficient but she admitted they had problems with the waitlist system and the staff were fed up with it. Too bad, it should be a great system if it worked properly. They have tables/chairs, free coffee/tea machines, chilled water, electrical outlets and WiFi in the air conditioned waiting area. The greeter said come near 9am when they open and there'll probably only be one or two waiting. read more
