I have been a member of Technology Credit Union for 25 years and all 4 of my children have accounts there. They have removed my online access and now my mobile access requiring me to call or go into a branch for any of my banking business. The reason? Too many transactions to/from Venmo/Zelle/Coinbase. Are you kidding me? We are not talking about large dollar amount transactions...I'm talking $100 occasional transactions. There are too many banks out here to be limited in this way. Closing my and all my children's accounts today. They probably don't care because we are not rich but that doesn't mean we should be ok with mistreatment. Probably Tech CU can work for you, if you follow all the rules that they require. However, they won't make it any easy. I guess I don't use my account very often. They seem to change their online service so often. As a result, when I need to access the account online, I had to call them in. If it's out of their business hours, you are out of luck. Even if you forget your password, they will require you to call in to reset. It's not like their call center is 24 hours open. Very convenient. Basically whenever you need to ask them something, you have to either call or even worse visit their office. They may also require you to use very archaic "secured" messaging system. If you want to handle your financial needs online, TechCU should not be your choice. Still aren't they serving people invented many of online services? read more

I'm a first time car buyer. TechCU came as a highly recommended lender in the Bay area. The process is super simply and extremely fast. I filled out my first application on Monday and had the check on Wednesday. I chose the Palo Alto branch only because it was mid-way to both me and the seller but I was extremely satisfied with their friendly, prompt customer service. Vidya was fantastic and walked me through the process and helped me figure out what was best for me. Thanks to her I was able to make a decision quickly and move fast on the loan without feeling like I was being rushed or ripped off. Gabrielle was fantastic in actually processing the loan as Vidya was out-of-office the next day. She was super patient as I re-did my application multiple times. Adrian Gomez was the bank representative that I personally dealt with. I found him to be extremely condescending and rude. Not only does this location not have any legitimate parking, but they have very few staff once you are assisted, you are disrespected. I'm closing my account and I'm going elsewhere. Be warned. Many other options available other than tech credit union. We know several families that have been considering tech credit union, not now. Mr. Gomez doesn't seem to enjoy his current position. TECH CU is the unbeatable alternative to a Big Bank for myself as a private practitioner, and as an executive board member of a small non-profit association of art therapists - none of us is particularly good with math or accounting and need a good amount of handholding. General Manager Kamal Pillay and his staff at the Palo Alto office have been beyond helpful to me in setting up my personal account as well as our business account for the association. They are generally available for questions or to give superior customer service - by phone, email, and even text!
