There is no money back guarantee but the reassurance you can continue wasting your time with roadside assistance having them replacing a battery as many times as you need until the 3yr warranty is up. I had to replace my AAA battery 2 times within a year thinking it was something other than the AAA battery. The first battery, I was stuck at a restaurant. I called AAA roadside and they tested my battery the car originally came with, only to find it was bad. The driver sold my on a AAA battery which I felt reassured it would last the 3yrs it was warranted under. It only lasted about a year. I called AAA again which test showed the battery was bad. They were happy to replace the battery with no hassle. Within that year my car started to die, so I assumed it was a short within my vehicle. After taking it to a couple mechanics for diagnostic, it turns out the battery was bad. Do I dare call roadside assistants again to have the battery replaced a third time... no! I ended purchasing a Die Hard Platinum battery and it's be running strong every since. Now I have a AAA battery sitting in my shed waiting to replace it one more time before the 3yr warranty is up. After filling out a reimbursement form online with AAA, I got a call from Roger a AAA rep who basically said I'm stuck with it until the warranty is up. This AAA battery has 3 year warranty and was replaced one year ago by AAA battery service. Yesterday 03/20, AAA Battery service came as my car would not start and they told me that the battery was under warranty but the battery was fine and I should just run the car 20 mins to charge it. I noticed that The battery was leaking fluid all over the top and was corroding the terminals.The tech said this leaking fluid is normal and that I should just wipe it off. Today I took it to Ford as the car would not start again. They deduced the battery is not charging and need replacing. AAA Will not refund the monies on warranty as I had to buy another battery from ford. I did not trust AAA Batteries. LEAKS Battery fluid. I was told by AAA to call in to speak with management to resolve the issue. All they do is play phone tag and you have to submit new paperwork and go through 15 steps to get your money back with no guarantee that you will. Not worth it. Next time if it does not start. As a longtime AAA customer I have had several AAA batteries put in my vehicles due mainly to the convenience of them coming to you. The replacement battery I had installed in my truck for free in 2022 under the 3-year free replacement warranty for the AAA battery purchased in 2021 went dead today after 2 1/2 years. I had to pay a pro-rated amount covering about half of the AAA battery's cost today. Beware: I learned that AAA changed their Warranty for their batteries in January 2023. There is no longer a 72-month limited warranty, but rather a flat 36-month Replacement Limited Warranty. I learned from the local AAA contractor who replaced my battery today that AAA now gets their batteries from a new supplier. Darn good thing since the quality of the batteries from the former supplier (I was told it was Interstate) are of suspect quality based on my experiences. If and when this NEW replacement battery craps out, and it will likely be before 3 years, I seek out a new and better quality battery from another auto shop or company. Years ago I had difficulty with a battery I bought from AAA. When it turned out to be defective, they would not honor their warranty. I disputed on the credit card and left the battery on the door step of the local office. Fast forward to about two years ago, I had to replace the battery in a different vehicle. The convenience of the mobile service makes it very attractive and by then I wasn't as annoyed as I had been. This was a big mistake. When the battery kept discharging for no reason, each time I called and each technician claimed the battery was fine. Get this, the last guy claimed they had no record I bought the battery from them even though emblazoned on the side in giant letters was "AAA". Had battery replaced in our Honda in September, car died at a stoplight a month later. Tow truck came out (thanks AAA) and we mentioned that we thought it might be the alternator since the battery was new. Driver (different Kevin from Executive Towing - AWESOME!! 5 Stars!) said it was acting more like the battery, hooked it up to his tester and said the battery wasn't charging. Dropped the car at the house & called AAA the next day. App says the tech will be there in 90 min. Cool. 15 min later Kevin C. calls, asks what happened and immediately says, "that's not the battery". I guess he's just that good that he can diagnose in 2 min over the phone. You see, he has 4 Hondas. He knows. He's 90 min out because he's in Gilbert (we're in Queen Creek) and there's no reason for him to come all the way out here for nothing but if we really want him to, he will, because we are the customer and he works for us. Yeah, I know. See ya in 90 min, Kevin. He arrives, explains again - using small words - that he can hook it up to his 'special machine', but it's pointless. You see, cars don't die like that from a bad battery. It's impossible. In fact, he's only seen it twice in 6 years. (I dont think that word means what he thinks it does but I'll have to check my expert to bimbo dictionary to be sure). But he'll get his 'special machine if we want. Yup, go ahead Kevin. He hooks it up points and says, "this says it's a charging failure. I'm not a technician so I can't diagnose but it's not the battery. Where would you like it towed?" Total visit: under 5 min. Before leaving he explained the importance of giving a 5 star rating on the survey. Don't hold your breath, Kevin. Now, I replaced my first alternator when I was 12. My daughter started working on cars when she was single digits and my 13 year old neice is currently replacing a transmission on her car. AAA is not what they used to be, especially with their battery service. The last three times we called them the technicians who arrive all say the same thing. "Oh, I just sold my last one." Wouldn't you think that since they are told the make/model/year of the vehicle they would make sure they had the right battery with them? We have a Dodge Ram 1500 and a Nissan Maxima. These are not rare vehicles with rare batteries. It is actually much more convenient to pull your own battery and take it to a local auto supply shop and do your business there. Even their towing service is lacking, and it often can take hours for them to show up. We've been AAA customers for decades, but are now thinking the service is a waste of money. read more

I have done the battery replacement with AAA twice. The first time was a success. The second time the battery went bad after a year and when I called them to come out and test it they told me the battery was fine and that there was something else going to drain the battery. I had to jump the truck every time I wanted to drive it. So I took it to my Mechanic mechanic and he said the battery was bad and replaced it. My truck runs great and starts every time. No other issue with the truck. So much for the 3 year Warranty. Next time I needs battery I will go somewhere else. Can't afford to replace it every year with AAA. read more

Had AAA install their battery in our 2008 Subaru Outback as part of their "premium" driveway service - costing about $170 in August 2020. As of March 2021, battery was not holding a charge, visit to local AAA repair shop determined battery was OK - but they thought we weren't driving enough to keep it charged... . Went out to check the battery myself, and realized AAA never tightened the battery down in the first place!!!!! This is an awful service, Like some of the other reviewers, Believing their truth in advertising, as well as the customer service reps response, I thought I had a 3 year free replacement warranty. I travel alot so my car had sat for over 6 months. I returned from my travels and found I could not start my car. I called AAA and they sent the battery tech out. He had troubles starting my car and finally got it started. He then told me I would have to leave my car running for an hour. Since I just returned there was not enough Gas to leave my car running for an hour. I asked why they said there was a 3 month replacement, if they would not replace the battery? Once again as other reviewers have noted they did not stand behind there warrantee. I will never do this again! I am out about $170 and it makes me think much less of AAA overall! This is more of a rant than a review, so bear with me. Scenario: I'm standing in front of Circle K on 9th Street and Van Buren, which is not making me happy to begin with and my new car won't start. MINI roadside service says all they can do is tow me home, which isn't gonna help, so I call AAA. They told me an hour to get someone out there. Ok, my cars alarm is going off, the door locks and key fob wont operate, and I'm basically pissing everyone at Circle K off. Some nice hispanic guy helps me to try to jump it, and it wouldn't work. 6 bums, 1 sunburn, and 3 grape powerades later I decide to push it home which is only 4 blocks. After pushing the car home, on my own, and parking it outside of my building, I go inside and call AAA. It is now 4:50 and they tell me someone will be here between now and 7:20.... ok 7:20 is a long way away, and my car alarm is still going off, then stops, then goes off again... intermittently I'm sure making my neighbors pissy. My home AC is on the fritz so I'm basically in a home 83 degrees with a fan blowing on me, a storm approaching, and no more grape powerade. I'm PISSED at this point. 6:30 rolls around and I decide to start drinking vodka to pass the time... 7PM I'm drunk... 7:30 I'm drunk outside by my car cursing the fact that nobody has come yet. 7:45 go back for another drink inside... Finally get a phone call from the driver saying he is parked next to a cute blue MINI. 8:15 I'm paying $145 for a new battery to some dude who keeps talking about himself. 8:30 Car is parked safely at home but I am 1. AAA mobile battery service: Buyers beware. As a long time member of AAA, and having used the battery service before, I had AAA come to replace my Motorhomes engine battery. Believing their truth in advertising, as well as the customer service reps response, I thought I had a 3 year free replacement warranty. Low and behold, having to get the battery replaced again in ~4 months, found out from the battery tech that RVs only have a 3 month warranty. This was news to me as well as the AAA customer service when I called them back. AAA did honor the replacement as a one time deal, but with me acknowledging that I only had a 3 month warranty. When it comes to battery Service with AAA, I have a feeling that its more of a "Lets Sell A battery" type of service versus a "Lets help this Member out" type of service and here is why. On more than one occasion when I have called AAA, they came out promptly and tested and as usual their typical response was that they could not determine if it was indeed the batter or the Alternator and would have to replace the battery first and then test the system again and on every occasion it ended up being the Alternator! This has happened a total of 4 times, twice with two different cars that I own and twice with friends of mine. I believe that if AAA had the members interest at heart, they would either carry a "Test" battery with them to be able to determine if its actually the Alternator or the battery first before proceeding with pushing a battery on people! All incidents mentioned were in the Tucson, AZ area. read more

Dead previously AAA-provided battery at home and called AAA. Told battery was 2 months out of the 3 yr full replacement but still covered under the prorated portion. However the service truck they could send no longer carried the battery they had put in 3 yrs ago or any battery for my vehicle. I could go buy my own battery and be reimbursed for the prorated amount but she couldn't tell me how much that was. She said I could request a form to submit for reimbursement. When I asked she said she could email me the form. I had previously had the truck come out and jump the car, but he couldn't test the battery as it was too low. I jumped the car myself and drove around 45 min to charge up before asking that they send someone to test the battery. The mobile service said you need a new battery, and left without giving me the printout of his diagnosis. The reimbursement form requires the new battery receipt, the original AAA battery receipt (no longer have although they have the records) and the diagnosis printout (which he didn't provide). read more

I can not even give Western New York AAA Mobile Battery service one star. We have a 2011 Volvo, replaced a dead battery in September 2016. In September 2017 the battery died. We had our mechanic thoroughly check the car for voltage leak, starter and alternator and found the battery defective. Because we had no choice but to trickle charge it to drive it while we waited for AAA to honor their "3 yr warranty", AAA found the battery perfectly fine. 9 more times we had a dead car and 6 times called AAA only to have a truck simply jump our dead battery. We spent over 3 hrs on the phone with them and never heard from a manager, nor did a battery technician recheck the vehicle. Finally, after my 16 yr old daughter was stranded in 5 degree F temperatures we decided to replace it. As of this review we still have not heard from AAA. We plan on filing a complaint with the BBB My advice, stay away... stick with your trusted mechanic, the batteries they sell are also warrantied and it will save you dealing with these idiots read more

I purchased a car from another AAA Member. He had purchased a AAA Battery in June of 2015. 2 months after I purchased the vehicle we took it on a vacation to the pacific northwest. We were in a small town 200 miles west of Seattle when the battery failed. The AAA tow truck driver jump started us and had us follow him back to his garage where he tested it and said it was bad. He saw the "3 year free replacement" on the side and called AAA and asked what they would do. They told him he (and therefore we) were on our own as there was no AAA batteries within 200 miles. So I was forced to spend $180. for a new battery. I brought the old one back to Phoenix and called AAA on Monday June 12 the day after we got home. I spent 90 minutes (mostly on hold while being transferred) and finally a supervisor informed me the warranty only goes to the member who purchased it. I noted that I have been a AAA member for 30+ years and have never heard of a warranty going solely with the buyer. She agreed that most brands warranty the actual battery (regardless of who bought it originally) but AAA is different. She then told me she would refer me the actual claims dept who have 7-10 days to respond. Well, today is the 10th day and still no response so I called back this morning. I was transferred 3 more times for a total on the phone time of another 1 hour and 35 minutes (thank-goodness for speaker phone). only to be told they meant to tell me it is 7-10 "business days" so they have 2 more days in which to call me. He also noted they now have a special department to deal only with battery complaints. MY advise to anyone reading this is do not buy a AAA battery unless you never plan on taking the car out of the immediate area. Because only actual AAA shops have their exclusive battery. So if it fails in say Prescott , or anywhere they use approved contractors you will have to pay out of pocket for a new battery, bring the defective one back to Phoenix, and then take it to a AAA shop where they will test it again and then decide whether you get a refund. read more

AAA Uses a company called Phoenix Battery Service, They are a horrible company who will fake a battery test and tell you that you need to replace your battery because the drivers they hire make commission of your sale. They are trained to lie basically. Most the time all that needs done is your battery needs to be jumped and that's it. Then they charge you $145 for this new battery which a few months later will die and hopefully you were smart enough to buy a warranty with it. Seriously people if you use AAA and your battery dies demand a tow truck driver to come out.
