OMG...to be able to say a towing experience is awesome, smooth and even fun is unimaginable....and I've been towed a lot due to my lack of spatial perception...even have tire insurance! From Theresa taking my call - professional and honestly interested in helping me out, even though my new auto was not in their data base - she googled it! To Bryan, the kindest most efficient hard worker/tower ever - my car needed a flat bed (Hybrid Accord Touring with "run flat tires - NOT!!), and he finessed the job and made it look easy. I was stressed, and he made me laugh! From the moment I called, I was towed to the dealership in less than 2 hrs (that includes the paperwork at Honda!), even though there is not a lot of flat bed trucks. He arrived 20 minutes BEFORE the time they gave me. BTW, in Florida my daddy had the "supreme" Cadillac Star towing....After 2 hrs of waiting, I called AAA who showed up in less than 30 minutes, even though it wasn't my car. That's why I opt out of Dealership roadside service...how can you do better than this? read more

I had AAA auto insurance for a year. During this year I was traveling and my car was to stay in my garage the whole time, so I requested a reduced coverage during this time, which was approved. I have not received a refund from the reduced coverage for that month. I have contacted AAA a number of times regarding this but there has been no effort on their part, I havent heard back from them at all. This seems really bad on part of AAA. Yesterday one of them had trouble with her car and was stranded. it was such a relief to have AAA tow the car all the way to our home, and the driver was so polite and courteous. I just reveived a petty letter from AAA threatening to send me to collections if I don't pay over $100 because they say my insurance auto renewed and I didn't notify them that I was going with another company. I'm a veteran and found a better value with USAA and let my AAA lapse while going with USAA. I think I could have gotten some money back from AAA due to switching before my policy ran out but decided not to bother. Now this company is coming after me...I say take me to court! Watch out if you find another insurance company at a cheaper rate and decide to switch! read more

I had a horrible experience. The AAA DMV employee could not understand what service needed to be done. Due to him/her not understanding how to take a temporary registration and make an official registration made him/her irritated and he/she continually raised their voice at me demanding answers. Decided I needed to call AAA or show up in person into this facility...so I decided to talk to rep inside this branch. The last time I recall being here in Thornwood was in 2009 I spoke to an agent about a vacation to LA, they were very helpful with setting me up with a hotel and rental car. Kudos to them on booking my flight as well! Well anyways I show today I talk to rep in the Auto Insurance section so the rep decides to transfer me upstairs(I dont recall why) but anyhow I get an appointment with a rep from upstairs no more than 5 min. Caroline walks up to me and says hello. She ask what I can do for you today yada yada. I tell her my info...she was very friendly by the way and what do you know 10 min later I get a print out of my new insurance policy. I recommend on goin to this branch if ever your in the area. This AAA has vending machines of maps which I find very helpful if you're going on a road trip. What prompted me to write this review however, was that I recently locked my keys inside my car and had to call for help. AAA came by in fifteen minutes and helped me get into my car, where the keys had been clumsily left inside the ignition. My agent was Chris Kissell in the Thornwood AAA office for decades, in the beginning he was very responsive and very accurate with all aspects of our transactions. He even responded and conducted a lot of our business via email. Things were great up until about 4 years ago for some reason. I had always recommended AAA to my friends and family until then. About 4 years ago things changed drastically not only with Chris but also with the offices and its personnel. His responses became less consistent by email up to days, then weeks then so long that I ended up having to call to reach him at all. Then even calling I was unable to reach him and left voice mails to him and his assistant. This went on for about 4 years and only got worse. The last straw was when I NEEDED to make sure my home owners coverage was still current and was not able to reach him or anyone who would help me at ALL. I called the office that he had been in Thornwood but they said he had moved I believe to the Capital office. I complained about the lack of responsiveness to the manager at the time who was there, but she was not interesting in dealing with the issues and said that I need to talk to him directly to clear things up, not even a sorry to hear about you experience. So I called that office but he wasn't there AGAIN. I was transferred to someone who they said was his assistant (not sure if it was just for that day) a female at the time but she also was not interested at all in my obvious description of 'very poor service' and in fact responded quite shockingly "So what do you want me to do about this?". Are you kidding me? If a customer complains that they can't get anyone to return their call or get status on their policies, wouldn't you think a more professional and compassionate response would be, "I am so very sorry to heard about your troubles, let me see if we can't straighten this our for you now. Let me ask you some questions. I might not be able to straighten things out for you, but we will get the ball rolling", or something like that. I tried a few more minutes with her but I could tell she was not interested in assisting me, so I asked for the manager but got a supervisor instead. A female who after I calmly explained about my original issue with Chris and the new problems with his assistants lack of interest in providing friendly customer service I got a similar response from her initially. She was not interested in helping me with my policies and she did not acknowledge that there was a issue with the staff at all at first. She referred me to the 800 number if I needed to clear things up right away, that was it! I asked her "are you at all concerned about the customer service issues I just mentioned?". She halfheartedly acknowledged by saying "yes, and what would you like me to do?" OMG seriously, this now seemed like a systemic issue with minimal or no customer service training. I asked if I could speak to the manager, she said he would be in tomorrow BUT then she started apologizing and became more open to listening to my issues, but I was done at that point. I asked if she could have the manager of this office give me a call. She said very politely 'yes, absolutely I will let him know and have him call you as soon as he comes in'. Can you guess what happens next... Yes of course, no one called. I call the 800 number that day and cancelled all 5 of my policies that day! (2 cars, 1 rental, 1 home, 1 earthquake). I was really shocked I have been with AAA for over 30 years and they used to have the very best people and service. Not sure what has happened in that last 4 years but they f'in suck now. read more

I was saved by this Office once upon a time, when I had a not so lucky day. My car broke down, my AAA insurance had expired exactly a week ago, my phone had no battery left, and I needed to show up at work in about 3 hours at that time. It was extremely hot that day so when I pushed my car to the side of the road, I went on an immediate survival mode (I was dehydrated) and searched for a place that could tow my car to my house and provide me with water. I walked around until my eyes went blurry and finally came across AAA office that looked like a high tech cyber security company. I went inside and there was an employee who greeted me with a smile even though I appeared as if I just completed a 20 mile hike (hump) and disheveled. I told this person my situation and he said I will help you with genuine tone. While we conversed, I had some intuition that he might be a former US Army. I asked if he was it and he said yes. There was no wonder he was so highly trained in serving a citizen with genuine kindness. He called several places to have myself placed back on AAA service for me. Subpar customer service. The employees are rushed and unfriendly. They had difficulty taking a simple passport photo of my child (did not understand the photo requirements). We waited a long time for them to figure it out. CVS on Lincoln Avenue had no problems taking the correct sized passport photo for my other child. I felt like I was receiving the same level of service I would expect at the DMV except I pay for my AAA membership! Would not recommend this office. read more

I almost never write reviews when it is negative. I believe in providing positive encouragement so people feel good about themselves and perform better. However, my three experience with this office, with three particular representatives got me wondering why I am still a member! We loved AAA for years, so, having this level of frustration is really not something I expected. This whole nightmare has to do with auto registration renewal and adding my name to the title to a car my husband bought recently. I was repeated given the wrong information, the representatives ask for different documents and signatures that are not required by the DMV. I was there three times, and giving them the paperwork based on what the previous person asked and instructed, but each time, the story is different. The third time I was there, I was asked to provide a bill of sale for this application. I know this is not required. So I took out the print out from DMV on what documents are required for doing what I need to do, and also informed the AAA rep that I have just went through all the paper work on the phone with the DMV representative before I came. I was informed, that because AAA is a substation, that they will require documents DMV does not require!!! Really??????? What will DMV do with the documents that AAA collects that DMV does not require? Why as a buyer, I need to sign on the seller's line? Mistakes after mistakes, and lies after lies? why did the first one did not ask for the bill of sale, and signature on a particular point, the other person would, and when I took out the form that was not needed in the first place, the third person did not even ask for it? All I got out of t his, is I can not trust the people here, at least the people I have dealt with. They do not know what they are doing, and just giving a bunch of BS to avoid doing their work. I kicked myself for repeatedly trying and giving them three chances. This is not a place that is worth my time. read more

Been a member for over 25 years and this will be the last. Went into oakridge AAA office to see one of the travel agents on Saturday was given a business card to call and make an appointment. Called left message for a call back on Monday no call back, went back to office, was told "you have to know where you want to go" by the front desk first, I told them that's why I'm trying to make an appointment to see what the deal is. Called the almaden office to try to get an appointment, was told they now only have 1 agent in the office due to most people use online services now. Called main office and talked with a supervisor and he transferred me back to oakridge office to a voicemail that I already had left a message on. I just wanted to talk face to face to get the best deal. read more

Customer service wasn't too impressive. I received mixed info (or I should say wrong info) from when I had called in. Once I got there and waited in line for 30 minutes, I was then told they do NOT accept credit cards for renewing DMV tags in their office. At least I didn't have to go the DMV though- positive thoughts! Three stars as I've exprencied great customer service from their tow truck driver. I broke down off of 101 near san martin. My poor Honda just died :( The guy came within 45 minutes and was super friendly. He actually seemed like he liked his job-refreshing for once!!!! In the beginning I rated triple A 5 stars but when my fiancé called them in June of this year to change the date to pay my monthly bill they cancel my policy, Once they cancel it they called DMV and told them I am no longer insured by them. It's nice how they notify DMV but it would be nice to notify the customer also. I was driving for two months without insurance and also DMV send a letter that my registration will be suspended if I don't show them proof of insurance. My fiancé called them to figure out what happen and the agent that helped me stated that I called to cancel the policy. He stated that I didn't call that he called to change the date for the monthly bill. He also ask why didn't the call us when they cancel the policy. I have my license for 12 years and only had a sit belt ticket which I paid off. No accident everything is clear why would they do this. I switch my auto insurance to Allstate which they award good drivers by sending them a check. Don't think I will go back to a company that cancel policy notify DMV and not the customer. If I could give 20 stars I would. This is my local branch, but this is for AAA in general. My daughter who lives in the state of Washington ended up with her car breaking down at 9:30 at night, literally out in the middle of nowhere in eastern Washington. She had her smartphone and called two tow companies who blew her off as they did not want to deal with the distance. Uh, hello she is a potential dangerous situation and you can't be bothered??? I called AAA to see f we could do something with my card/service. They did not hesitate in getting my daughter on our service and then working with us to get a truck out to her location. They stayed on the phone with me through the entire ordeal, and never once was I ever put on hold. Each operator stayed on until we had ful contact with the next person in the chain. The truck showed up in 15 minutes , and my daughter told me he was simply the nicest guy you would ever want to meet, caring, considerate and very helpful. This is Customer Service at is absolute best. You simply can't find in this day and age, a better company to help you. I have been a member since 1966 and my kids will have to pry my AAA card out of my hand, when I go. read more

Insurance experiences are rarely pleasant, it is the nature of the business. But personally, all my experiences have been great. My agent Olivia Valdivia has been my agent for over 7 years and she really stays on top of things to make sure that I know if I'm due for a payment and answers all my questions thoroughly. I'm the world's worst record keeper and she gets me everything I need in minutes or in a few hours at most. She knows my needs and my financial challenges, and she lets me know all my options. I have 1 motorcycle, 3 cars and a home covered through her and have filed one car accident and I believe one home claim for a water heater damage. I had no issues, and no surprises. I highly recommend Olivia. I am a single mother and have no time to waste, and Olivia makes it less stressful. The Thorton office also has a DMV office for some services, great convenience for AAA members. I can't speak to all the agents, but I'll assure you Olivia will give it to ou straight. read more
