If you want your car to get lost and stolen for a few days, have it towed to AAA in Toms River. They will lose it because the tow truck drivers bring it to the wrong address and AAA is not aware that they have the same address as Lester Glenn 20 min down the road at 08755 instead of 08753. You can stay on the phone for hours and days until YOU do a quick google search and teach AAA what there own address is and troubleshoot their own internal issues. Not to mention the internal communication breakdown that will happen along the way with AAA where they will be like "where is your car?" "It's at the original location from 3 days ago?" "It's actually at the AAA, that will be $300." "Wait free towing to AAA so how is it $300?" "Oh, you are right, I don't know, I just work here." "Looks like we are towing it and to the same destination it is already at?" "Sir are you are your car now?" "No, you towed it 3 days ago...." "where is my car??" 7 tow trucks to move a car from Point A to Point B. Hours and hours of phone calls at all hours of the night. Terrible experience and customer service. AAA, you would think would be aware of this issue. When you go there in person they think they understand this but the dispatchers do not. This is all an internal AAA problem. Beware. read more

Dour expression . Not a people person. The place was empty not a customer in sight 4 people at the counter and at least sitting at two empty desks. My car was bucking so I brought it in to the AAA in Toms River on Route 37. I wish i had not brought it there. They added "needed repairs" after the original quote and said I needed them to be able to drive the car. I questioned them about a charge of $1,800 for parts and labor for an oil leak and I asked them if I really needed that at this time, and they said I'd be fine for months without it. That's when they came up with another $600 of parts and repairs. They also never finished the car when they said they would. To be honest, I felt they were exaggerating needs to me and I walked away not trusting a thing they said. Pretty sad. I ended up paying $1800 and all I probably needed was a tune-up. AAA charged me $3,100 to fix a shuddering in my car. I had to pay for new struts, shocks, a tie rod and they also charged me $600 dollars for a tune up. They obviously did not test drive the car before returning it to me. The shuddering was still there. I went to Auto Zone and they did a free code check. The issue is the transmission, so everything AAA did was preventative and did not fix the problem but AAA would not reimburse me for anything. They said it's not their job to do a five minute code check and I should have taken the car to a dealer. AAA should have told me this before stealing the money I could have used to fix the real issue, the transmission! They did not Please do not go to AAA. The are nasty rip off artists and take advantage of people who don't have car repair knowledge. read more

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had. My battery died and I had it towed to AAA in Tom's River. I asked to replace the battery and do an oil change. Got a phone call with a laundry list of things they claimed were wrong with the car. They even claimed the air conditioner compressor was going and gave me an estimate of over $2,400.00 with fictious repairs. I decided to get another opinion and the only thing that I needed was a battery that cost me $125.00. I'm going to call the Better Business Bureau and possibly the Attorney General. After 60,000 miles I decided to try them out to replace my front brakes. I have alloy wheels and never had ANY brake dust until then. Scheduled an appointment for noon today. Brought my van in promptly and ended up waiting 2 hours for an oil change. I could have brought it to a closer company and had it done in 20 minutes. Price was $38 as a AAA member. They did not speak to me about my cabin air filter but charged me $40 for the filter and $30 to put it in. $70 for a $15 that takes less tha 10 minutes to install? I am very disappointed that they did not ask me if I wanted to pay $70 for a cabin air filter installation as I would have told them no way! I purchased a cabin air filter on Ebay for $11. I will not go back to this location and I have my doubts about any AAA services center. Poor service and rip off! Beware! read more

Tire rotation as part of oil change was not done although mechanic said it was. Suggest you mark your tires as I did so that you know if it was done or wait while service is performed to see if they actually do this and other services. Very disappointed as this was second time in a row rotation was not done as requested. read more

I wholeheartedly agree with Gary B. Had a similar awful experience with our Jeep. We are pursuing action against them because of bad information and work that was not properly done and not done at all. As a result, we wound up paying more than $3000 in total with respect to what we paid them for shoddy work and what we paid a Jeep service center to properly take care of the issues with our car. Do not recommend at all. They never responded to the BBB complaint nor to our written letter to their corporate. Avoid! read more

The absolute worst place to take your vehicle unless you are getting an oil change, even that would make me nervous. The only good mechanic they had moved to the Eatontown location.. They charged over $3700 and when the car broke down with the same issue 4 days later they said it was either my fault or bad gas. Next call was to my attorney. They didn't call back when promised, the kid who worked on my car is a total hack who only works there because no reputable place would hire him. Customer Service is terrible and clearly no one enjoys working there. Avoid at all costs!!! read more

They say they give you a triple a discount but retract there statement when you agree to have work done. Will charge about 65 dollars for half an hour diagnostic, (even when we know what is wrong ), a service place fee , and then the part and labor fees. My favorite place to get my oil changed that I've ever been to! Their repair shop is 100% honest and that's the most important thing to me. They don't try to sell unnecessary services and the charts they have explaining fluid levels in the waiting area -- and on the sheets they hand out -- are really helpful. Probably the only service station I've never had a bad experience at and everything they offer is extremely affordable. They're also relatively quick and speaking of the waiting area - it's really clean and comfortable. I wish AAA had these types of shops in other states, because they're the best at what they do. read more

Basically their "mechanic" forgot to tighten my rim on my truck. About a month after, there was a weird "wobbly" sound. A guy pulled up next to me and told me my rear right tire looked like it was going to fall off!!!! I tried to tighten it but lug was busted off and rim hole was egg shaped. Naturally wouldn't take responsibility for it. Had to buy a $500 rim!!!! Could have gotten a set of customs for that almost. Above and beyond the call of duty. Repair supervisor went out of his way to help out when my Santa Fe died by their location. Even towed it the short distance to the shop to see what was up. bought 4 tires from tire rack, and for installation AAA in Toms River was recommended .being a premier AAA member I had them installed there .over the course of a few months my low air pressure sensor came on my dash , I checked the air pressure on all 4 tires and all were low . this kept happening for 6 months I finally took the vehicle to another tire installer ,he told me whoever installed the tires never cleaned or sealed the bead around the tires , im now out $300.00 dollars for tire installation ..when I called the manager at the Toms River location she was totally unhelpful and rude . after this incident im closing out my AAA membership and never going back to AAA in Toms River . read more

AAA is great at towing and that is the extent of it. Had one of my older cars towed there and asked for a complete look over. Check engine light was on for weeks and kept stalling. They had it for a week and a half and never called us. We called twice to be told the guy working on it is on lunch and yet no one returns call. 8 days later finally got him and was told "oh its been done, we cant replicate the issue and runs fine". Paid the $65 fee and within 4 min of pulling out of the parking lot the check engine light comes on and it stalled one block from my house. When I called them they said i can bring it back to get looked at again. They are LIARS, they never took the time or energy to look at what the real issue is and has the nerve to charge me $65 for nothing. I took to another local mechanic and they had it figured out within 4 hours. Dont ever use them unless you being towed. read more

Had my car break down Sat on my way to work. Had no choice but to have it towed to pep boys in carteret,nj.They worked on it and i drove it and the car wasn't acting the same. Pep boys said they wouldnt fix it so same story with pep jerks.Called my AAA in Toms River and set up an early appointment 7am. Very happy with that. Got here early and Brandon and Heather took care of me. They diagnosed the problem and let me know about it and the solution.They fixed the problem pep jerks left me with. BEWARE CAR OWNERS!!!!!!!!!!! I recently took my vehicle to the AAA Car Care Center in Toms River to have someone look at the brakes because a caliber was hitting the rotor. The brakes and rotors were installed on a previous visit to the same center. They told me it wasn't the brakes but rather the wheel bearings were bad. The wheel bearings were replaced less than a year ago by Subaru. I went back to Subaru and confirmed that the wheel bearings were fine and it was probably a loose caliber. A couple of years ago my Jeep Grand Cherokee stalled and couldn't get restarted. I called and had a tow truck bring the Jeep to the Toms River Location. I was charged over $1000 dollars to replace 4 O2 sensors and a temperature sensor. Bosch O2 sensors were put in the vehicle charge at $150 each plus labor. I am having problems with my vehicle and talking to two mechanics from two different shops they both said that the only O2 sensors in the jeep should be from NTK/NGK. I've put less than 30k miles on the Jeep since and they are already causing problems. read more

My 80 year old recently widowed mother brought her 2014 Ford Escape to AAA Tom's River, 1/20/17, for an oil change and head light adjustment. The mechanic/service persons convinced(misled) my mother the car needed 4 new tires, new shocks and struts. Cost her $2,600. Our entire family is outraged by this. Very hard to believe this was needed on a car with 19,000 miles. If you think the days of garages cheating women and seniors are over, think again. I had a tire loosing air for about 2 weeks and couldnt find the cause. Worried it might be the stem or a bent rim I brought my car to AAA in Toms river. I was greeted with a friendly smile and quickly referred to Branden the service advisor, who was just as friendly. Turns out there was a small black hard plastic object in my tire. They actually took me out to the shop floor and showed me exactly what was wrong so I know it wasn't B.S. Got a discount for being a AAA member. They have a clean, comfortable waiting room and shuttle service as well. Friendly staff. No attitudes. Spoke to several other customers who have been going there for years. I purchased a Triple AAA battery in Toms River which went dead in a couple of months inspite of regular use, it was serviced again, went dead again, this time in Monmouth County. The Triple AAA serviceman from Monmouth Cty. advised that I was not sold a Triple AAA battery but an old used one that the company doesn't even carry. The original agents lied to me & the Toms River office is refusing to at least reimburse me for a new purchase. They are claiming that I changed the battery, me, a 60+ yr. old woman. If I could have done that I would have never needed them in the first place. It should be noted I paid cash & my invoice isn't even filled out properly with the technician's name on it, etc. How convenient. I took my new, used, car to AAA to have a set of winter tires installed. I was unfamiliar with the car, in a jam and everyone went far out of their way to help me. The installation process was difficult as the past owner of the car had over torqued the lug studs but after much hard work and broken tools the tires were installed and I was ecstatic. Everyone, without exception, did their absolute best and then some to help me out. I'll be taking my car back and wholeheartedly recommend them. read more

We purchased a membership about a year or so ago from the Toms River store. Very recently we experienced a blow out on our front right tire coming home around 6:30pm at the end of a long road trip (600mi). Tire blew after rolling over a large pot hole on Rt 72 (around mile marker 10) in Woodland Twp, NJ. Rt 72. The area of Rt 72 we were stopped at was unlit and dark with a shoulder that is just about a car width in size. I decided it would be prudent to call AAA for assistance. First we got a message that due to an unusual amount of call activity b/c of recent snowy weather it would be awhile before someone answered our call - it wasn't that long - about 3 to 5 min. However after taking all the information the AAA representative said that we would received help in 30min. 2 hrs and 3 calls later a young man in a tow truck arrived. Altho courteous and apologetic he was unprepared for the job. He had to borrow MY tire iron and he did not have an air pump in case the donut (spare) was underinflated (which it was). My wife and I were not happy with the service (if you can call it that) rendered; especially given that the main reason for having AAA is roadside assistance. Really, is there any other reason for joining?? We will consider dropping our membership. read more
