When asked about insurance, I replied with my Medicare advantage plan. At that point the person with whom I was speaking stopped me, claiming that Medicare would only pay for a dietitian if there were a pre existing condition such as diabetes -- anything else is strictly self pay. Afterwards, I contacted my Medicare advantage carrier and found out this response was completely inaccurate, that there are no prerequisites for being seen by a dietitian. It is my understanding that the carrier reached out to the clinic to clarify, but did not receive a reply to several voice mail messages. Not sure whether Medicare or the disability caused this misinformation to be communicated, but my trust was lost immediately.

His care for my child really stands apart from the other practitioners we've seen over the years, including the very top MAPS- certified doctors in the country. Through my journey I have gained a lot of expertise in the biomedical treatment of autism symptoms and I can say that his recommendations are the best there is. His reports are very detailed and thorough. The supplements he recommends are the very best in terms of quality, but also from the perspective of ease of administration for a child. Now, if this is your first biomedical consult, you might be overwhelmed by the number of supplements he recommends. The way I look at it is he puts everything on the table so you can take over as Dr. Mom/Dad. This saves you money. Other practitioners might make things simple by offering one supplement recommendation per visit, but you have to keep going back to pay them more. The most important thing is my child is making real progress! Family, friends, teachers and therapists are commenting that they see the difference. I'm also grateful to Dr. Nik for pushing me to try S2C. I didn't really believe him, but it turns out he was right. My child is a brilliant speller!!!!

With being new to lifting weights, I love that she takes her time explaining proper form and the muscles you are engaging with each workout. When I first started working with Michelle, I was feeling out of shape and lacked confidence. Over the course of my time working with her, she helped me to get stronger and feel great. I always felt like my workouts were customized to my abilities but also to continue to push me. She listened to my feedback on workouts and really honed in on what I enjoyed but also what I needed. When I first started I hated the lunges! But now I've got them down and they're one of my favorite exercises in the rotation. In addition to the workouts, she also spent a lot of time with me focused on nutrition and diet, as well as mindset. I have a high stress profession but my my twice-a-week sessions with Michelle were always a great stress relief and provided an outlet to reset my mindset and attitude. She also sent weekly reminders about nutrition and mindset. There was a period of time that I was working to establish a routine of eating breakfast. She texted me every morning to help keep me accountable. In addition to my twice weekly sessions, Michelle also loaded workouts into the Trainerize app. This allowed me to do a third workout on my own each week. Also was very helpful when I was on vacation - even if I was going to missing my in person session, I could still do the workout on my own. I would definitely recommend Michelle's services to others. I've really enjoyed getting to know her over the least year and wish she could continue to train me.

Paul Tijerina walks you through everything in a concise manner. He takes the time to continue answering questions and offering strategies for how to incorporate optimal eating and living habits. He realizes that this is a process which could take time so he takes everything at a pace that you are comfortable with. Paul understands that this is your own personal journey so he will never impose something on you. He will guide you as a friend because he cares deeply for all people (he truly does!). Paul is extremely positive and down to earth. He understands what it is like to be human and he'll meet you wherever you are while striving to bring you to newer levels of optimal health and wellness but in Paul's eyes, everyone is a superhuman simply for being! Nothing else matters. When I started the program, I was already eating mostly natural food. I was even getting all of the protein required for someone who exercises regularly. I allowed a little bit of wiggle room to be able to eat anything that I wanted, at times, since it is very important to be flexible and not too restrictive! I had heard really good things about the SuperHuman Transformation program so I was excited to pay Paul a visit with the goal of dialing in my nutrition. Little did I know that what was offered would make things so much better! I was able to improve digestion which is so important for nutrient absorption. I am eating more nutrient rich food which keeps me feeling satisfied. This does not mean eating a whole lot of vegetables and salad, by the way. He incorporates very satisfying food that keeps cravings at bay: simplicity is the key. Regardless of your current state of affairs, anyone can feel better upon implementing some aspect of this program. The adjustments don't always feel quite right at the start but they become effortless over time. It's hard to believe that what once required some thought and effort are now not only easy, but preferred - you'll want to do it! I love simplicity, and things have been simpler when living more optimally. I am able to make it through the day with ease while feeling better and enjoying great food! The SHT was my first experience with a health coach of any kind. Prior to signing up, I had been…read moreathletic all my life. I had my experience with bodybuilding and very restrictive diets that ultimately were not sustainable. I was successful in the past, but as I turned 30, it was becoming more difficult to dial in my overall health. Then just like that, I became a Father. It was the proudest day of my life. With this, came increased stress, poor sleep, increased weigh gain and a lack of ambition to get back in the gym. It took a few months for me to notice. When I did, I knew I would need help. I'm not normally the type to go to others for help. I made it through 30 years of my life doing it by myself, why would I need help now? Unfortunately, I was running out of options. I quickly realized my old ways were unsustainable due to the fact they were too strict and not practical (high protein, low carb). I heard about the SHT through word of mouth at CrossFit Combine. They mentioned Paul by name and everyone knew him as the guy you go to if you're serious about your health. I took a leap of faith and did it. Right off the bat, Paul did an awesome job of getting to know me and helping me feel comfortable with the idea of being coached. He made it easy. From the beginning, I was given a bunch of resources to assist me in obtaining the information that defines the SHT lifestyle. I learned what foods we should be eating and why, how to read labels when shopping, how to be metabolically flexible and how to actually enjoy being healthy. The whole idea was to eat REAL FOOD and make it a priority above all else. It became apparent that this sort of "diet path" was sustainable. The program promotes more than just how you eat, though. It promotes connection with the earth, creating good habits with sleep and helping you overcome the struggles that come with trying new things you may not be comfortable with. My goals when coming to Paul were to lose weight to help me become a better Father, Husband and Firefighter. I also wanted to increase my ability to be mindful and learn to meditate. I lost 10 lbs in just 3 months, all while clearly gaining muscle. I've implemented a daily meditation routine that is simple and effective for me. I've adopted journaling as a good way for me to help me set my intentions and achieve new goals. Most of all, I feel amazing. I feel confident, energized and enthusiastic. I know the SHT lifestyle is easily sustainable. I don't feel as if I'm on a diet that is going to cause me to burnout. I feel like I've been given all the tools I need to lead a healthy lifestyle and I can easily maintain this for a lifetime. I'd recommend this program to anyone. It has been easy to learn and implement. Paul T. has been an amazing coach, mentor, resource and friend. He made himself completely available to me anytime I needed help or had questions. I felt like I could always go to him. I knew from the get go I was making a good decision to work with him. By the end of our 3 months working together, that proved to be correct. They offer massage services and weight training along with nutritional counseling. You can buy a variety of nutritional products there as well. Joanie is a friendly and knowledgeable nutritionist who takes the time to know her clients' personal goals, likes, and dislikes in order to help them get healthy in a way that works WITH them- you do not have to fit into some pre-fab lecture-style class that doesn't work for you. The current (2007) price is about $175 a month (it's a bit higher for the first two months) for two meetings a week, plus email support.) For some that may seem high, but when I compare this price to what I might have ended up paying for medication, repeated ER & doctor visits, and steadily bigger clothing, well, it's worth the money. :-) If you want one-on-one counseling, education, an unbiased person to be accountable to, and great support as you reach your nutritionally-based health goals, get thee to Healthy Connections!
