Great service, even when the item is a returned item. Been shopping at the PX since 1973!

It's a great place to work at. Great benefits and great pay. I'm from California on travel orders.

Parking was easy on a Sat mid day. Only walked the outside premises because I was really freaked out when someone came running out of what appeared to be a closed off back house and then he ran into the main house entering through a do not enter door. As if to get there before me. The signs on the hone said to enter around the side of the home which was actually a basement turned into a lobby like setup with things to see and buy. Then I saw that the same guy from outside was now sitting behind the glass. I assumed this was his place and when he realized he had visitors he ran back to work. I started to approach him and ask how this works, eg do you pay or no? Self guided or no? He just looked at me strangely. Then I heard a door slam shut behind me and I turned around and another guy same height build etc was standing behind me to the side with his arms folded just looking. Neither of the two men said a word and all of a sudden I felt very uncomfortable so I ran to the stairs and up to the door which was shut and thankfully not locked. So I opened it and left and barely heard the guy behind the counter say feel free to walk the grounds. All I could do was leave as I was completely creeped out. The excitement was gone. Bummed as I really wanted to see this place, but felt it was important to share this experience. So be wise, I had protection, but decided to exit.

I had my phone out before we started the tour but my tour guide rudely pointed me out in front of everyone and demanded me to put my phone away. I understand the rule but he came off very rude and ruined my experience. I feel like there's a better way to approach that situation and I hope that no one else has the same experience as me.

Fort Eustis has a surprisingly full lineup of amenities if you know where to look. The McKenzie…read moreFitness Center is the main gym and it's well-equipped, clean, and easy to use without feeling chaotic. It's a true workhorse gym, not just a token fitness space. If you're into golf, the Fort Eustis Golf Club is a big draw and one of those features people forget is even there until someone mentions it. For Outdoor Rec, the Eustis Outdoor Recreation (Adventure Center) is where all the rentals and gear live. That's where you go for equipment, seasonal items, and anything that lets you do something fun without owning all the gear yourself. The Eustis RV Park is also a real asset for families and visitors, and it's used far more than people realize. If you've got kids or just like low-key entertainment, Eustis Lanes Bowling Center is a staple. It's not flashy, but it's reliable, affordable, and an easy win for family time. Add in the Disc Golf Course, playgrounds, and walking areas, and you actually have a decent variety of things to do without leaving base.

I've certainly been to a few Army Posts in my day, but the real question is, what's the criteria…read morewe're using? Overall size? Amenities? Housing? I mean let's face it, the State in which one lies might even be a factor. So, I'll base my review off of someone who works here and obviously spends a great deal of time here. Albeit generally in the same office every day... point A to B. Housing looks pretty sad, but I cannot attest. The PX is average and adequate. It has a gun section, so that's a plus. The food court inside said PX is pretty lame, and unlike other posts that offset the offerings with food trucks outside in the parking lot, not here. Here's what I do like... a golf course that's very nice. It offers the full 18 and a "Quick Six," that's perfect for walking. The James River for great fishing access (bank only, no boat ramp). There is a small canoe/kayak access point with parking lot. Though I don't partake, there's a pretty nice aquatic center, and the gym is average. All in all it's a pretty post compared to many, and I think most would agree.

Boy was I wrong!! I had expected much more from a privatized jail but this just went south right…read morefrom the get go. First of all, I had a very sub-par shuttle service to the jail. The Chauffeur was the most chatty Kathy I have ever met. He talked the whole way! I just wanted to sit and look at the beautiful autumn colors of the Virginia trees but not with officer talks-a-lot. If it wasn't for the handcuffs, I would have definitely rolled down the window to drown out his voice. Once I arrived I thought to myself, just forget the long uncomfortable ride and let the fun begin! Again, dead wrong. I asked for an expedited check-in but they just laughed. The nerve of these people right? Who waits for 3.5hrs to check in!? I am sure there were at least 2 people that arrived after me and they totally got checked in before me. When they finally called me, I got a different room because my main room wasn't ready or something yet. I had to wait in some room called "Security Housing" or something like that for 2 nights!! Two whole nights just to get my room ready. Wow what a joke. When my room was finally ready I thought to myself, just relax it can't get any worse. Oh man that couldn't be any further from the truth. I guess all the rooms were full and the only other vacancy was with someone else!! Yes you read that right, I had to share a room with some stranger! WTF!? I begged for a single room but was told if I did not leave the front desk that they would lock my in my room for 3 whole days. I think he was joking but he didn't even snicker. Sometimes this random guy would even poop right there next to me without even a thought! Anyways, after I settled in and realized it was almost lunch time I began to get excited. I was told we were having hamburgers and potatoes. Not real fancy but I was hungry so it would do. What they served me was probably the worst excuse for a hamburger ever! I overheard someone call it a "meat rock" and I am sure they will probably be giving it a bad review soon as well because they were spot on with the description. Yuck is an understatement. I was waiting for this thing called "store day" everyone kept talking about but I never saw a store. It must be some inside joke among the other patrons that I didn't get (I would have given anything for a store at that point). The weird hours and the fact that the guy at the front desk would open and close my door whenever he/she wanted day and night made me super uncomfortable and very tired. The only privacy I got was in a bathroom called "the truckstop" and it was exactly that. GROSS! After I started getting used to everything, my vacation time was over. I was actually looking forward to going back to work and the real world! This place was the pits and I will make sure I never go there again. I would give it zero stars if it would let me. I hope no one else has an experience like me. Next time I am just going to check out some place called "up-state". I heard they are a lot more friendly and welcoming there with a lot more amenities too!
