The Pxtra was there for me in any times of need during my three years of being stationed at Fort Lee Virginia for my first and last duty station. There was always an abundance of mostly everything a soldier would need. The only time I remember them being out of stock for one or more stocked item; was pt reflective belts when an incoming class of soldiers just showed up for further training and all 500 needed a reflective pt belt for running at O dark thirty. Fort Lee Virginia was an awesome duty station for me; but I have nowhere else to compare to. read more

The PXtra is an interesting concept located on some military installations. It is essentially a glorified shoppette, but not as nearly as big as a px. There is a little bit of everything - a small amount of clothing, office supplies, snack foods, alcohol and soft drinks. Inside of the building there various vendors, a Game Stop, Clothing and Sales and a pizza hut. It is located in the training portion of post and it is convenient for young Soldiers with no transportation and/or confined to the installation. I go here if I need to grab something in a bind, if it is too remote of an item - forget about it. You will have to go to Walmart. read more

AAFES PXtra - Department Stores Near Me - Fort Lee, Virginia

It's just a glorified convenience store... well, if that's what you are looking for, it's much bigger than traditional 7-11 type of store, got the basics, expanded food selection, Game Stop store within the store, quite a bit of alcohol selection, wide variety of uniform items. There's a tiny bit of bedding but other than that, there's nothing more than a convenience store. In the actual shoppette, there are plentiful drugs (alcohol, tobacco, caffeine), unhealthy snacks, and school supplies. Assorted household items and a crappy selection of print magazines also are central to the available stock, as is typical globally with AAFES. There are Compact Discs (still) and Digital Video Discs (still). And, terribly designed trinkets; because so many tourists from around the wide world travel to Fort Lee and want that cheap T-shirt: I've been to Fort Lee, VA ... the fort named for an unabashed traitor to the United States of America! My experience consisted of walking/driving to the PXtra, walking in through the doors (after opening them), shopping for things I needed, standing in queue to pay, and paying. No tax. Pretty nice establishment. Like a shoppette on steroids it offers a little more then the express gas station but at a more convenient size then the main PX. Location has an alterations shop and clothing sale shop for military related items such as uniforms, non major/large CIF equipment, rank, uniform accessories. Also located in the back is a Game Stop. This location also had a tactical store for all your extra helping tools and cool guy gear. Along with various other kiosks and off key shops similar to those at the main PX (mobile phones, Phone accessories, chess board dealer). Food selection here is very limited and should not be your only purpose in stopping by. Staff is friendly and helpful. I mean sure I have had a couple bad experiences with the employees but they have been rare. They offer A COFFEE PERKS punch card. BEWARE of buses of trainees that will come all at once. This will back up all the registers and have you waiting a sad amount of time. But that is no fault of the staff just a nuke bomb of customers literally all at once. read more

I'm not writing this review for the entire PXtra, only for the alterations shop. I dropped off a brand new Class A dress shirt to the alterations shop, only to have it returned looking like it was just taken out of the bag that it came in. The employee there seem to care very little while I was inspecting the quality of of the items that I had given them and was only worried about collecting my money. I sure that he saw the wrinkled shirt when I pulled the plastic wrap off in from of him while stating that the shirt looked like garbage. If this it they type of service that is being provided at this location, I highly recommend that Soldiers take their business else where or file an ICE complaint. Nice little shopette they had some food options, alterations, barber shop, Wireless zone, and separate store for all your military uniform needs. Prices are very reasonable and you can get in and out pretty quick. read more

Better than the main PX. I've noticed that prices in the PXtra are slightly lower than for the same items in the main PX. The barbershop here also gives better haircuts. There are some food vendors outside that are decent. read more

ALTERATION SHOP INSIDE CLOTHING AND SALES Bought a new set of ACU's and wanted to get tapes and rank sewn on, they ended up tearing two holes in my ACU top when removing the fuzzy tape and sewed the rank on my PC super crooked. Didn't get a chance to complain because I did all of this right before a PCS and didn't notice it until I moved. I wouldn't use their in house alteration shop, they do shoddy work because of the high volume of IET soldiers. read more
