What the heck... I can't believe I hadn't written a review for this spot yet being that I'm here like once a week at this point. I think I've been subconsciously gatekeeping. Not gonna lie, I usually side-eye Indian spots. I love the cuisine but was avoiding it for a minute due to horrible experiences at other Indian restaurants over the years, mainly bad service or health standards truly being UNDER the gutter. Aamar's may have permanently healed my PTSD though! They just do it right, man. It's really small inside and dated but spotless and oddly cozy. True local gem vibes. Can't speak on the bathroom though (sorry, ladies). The service has ranged from pleasantly indifferent to super friendly depending on who's manning the front counter. The food is SO good though so I don't even care about the cut and dry interactions that we occasionally get. The average entree is $16-20 (priced well for the area) but my husband and I usually share with an appetizer, some extra naan, and extra rice. You could definitely feed 2 for under $30 if you're looking for something on a budget. Beef Korma and the Coconut Goat have me in a chokehold. The meat just melts in the mouth every single time. To date, every entree I've had so far has contained the most tender and succulent protein. And that mixed naan is certified *CHEF'S KISS*. The samosas are chonky and expertly fried without making you feel like you're biting into a grease pocket. The rice is cooked perfectly and SEASONEDDDD as God intended good rice to be. They also give complimentary bottled water whether you are dining in or picking up, and always offer mints and a place to sit. Everything is labeled and packaged perfectly. I recently found out that they have a happy hour and I gladly dragged my man in here to try their Rum Lassi. I'm not a fan of sugary drinks normally, but this thing was soooo delicious and packed a nice punch even with its small size. Creamy and dreamy. The orange garnish gave it a nice little citrusy zing. Hubz enjoyed his margarita but agreed that the Rum Lassi was the star. Definitely had a few too many LMAO. I had no clue they even served alcohol but they do have a nice lil spread back there! Located in downtown. Good location very close to all other places . Parking is paid .. had to park a few blocks away .. there are other parking spots closer to this restaurant too. It's tough to locate this restaurant . From outside you hardly see the board or name visible. Lots of Georgia tech and GSU students eat here . There are also discounts for them . Place inside was cozy . Tables and the space was small .. service was good. The guy (uncle) came and gave us some starters and also had a smiling face ... we ordered and got the food extremely quick .. less than 5 mins we got the food :). Food taste was average though. I love Indian food! This place popped on Yelp today for locations near where we are staying and we had to try it. Wow! The experience was wonderful. It's a cozy sidewalk cafe that had great music. We barely made it through the door before they brought us water and an appetizer. They were delicious! The waitstaff and everyone made sure every need was attended to. Wonderful service! And I save the best for last, everything we ordered arrived piping hot and was so delicious. We ordered the garlic naan, pakoras, mango lassi's and butter chicken and the chicken korma. I went to have dinner. Thought to start with Samosas. And I am glad I only ordered that. Which Indian restaurant in sane mind would "microwave" a Samosa!! Why?? And BTW Samosas are a 3 dimensional Pyramid shaped, deep fired and crispy dish. Not some flat, greasy, sorry looking potato filled triangle shaped disaster. Yes, yes, yes! I've been eyeing this spot for a while because of its good reviews and was finally in the area. I ordered via Uber eats so I can only speak to the food. I had the chaana begoon (spicy) and garlic naan. I was expecting a little more kick, but I think the spice was just mellowed by a smokiness and a subtle sweetness. It's probably the most well-balanced chaana begoon I've had so far. It did have larger pieces of onions in it than I've seen, but I didn't mind. I actually like the different textures this dish offers. The naan was flaky at the edges, and soft and buttery towards the center. No complaints from me. Great little spot cranking out delicious flavorful food. Extremely kind folks running this space that just want you to be warmed with a delicious meal and we were able to do just that. Always wanting to see how others do it we ordered a few things to share and loved it all. The lentil soup was extremely flavorful with saffron and garlic and a little spice the naan was soft and savory and our tika Marsala was also delicious. Just came here for a quick take out dinner on a Wednesday night. Was able to walk from my hotel downtown. The inside has a couple seats. The menu has many options. I ordered the Shaag Ponir for ~$14. It came with a side of rice which was nice. The workers were all very nice and gave me a water while I waited. The food came out pretty fast ~10 minutes! I took it back to my hotel and thought it was pretty good. There was a lot of cheese which I loved. Amazing Indian food in DW Atlanta. Was in the city for work & after having sandwiches and pizza for the past week, boy were we glad to get some comfort food for the soul. We got Garlic Naan, Mixed Naan and Paneer Tikka Masala & everything was delicious! Piping hot, extremely tasty and just hit all the right spots on a cold fall evening. They serve food in togo boxes (very convenient I'd say) and styrofoam (?) plates which wasn't a huge deal for us but could be for some. The place is small but can definitely hold a crowd, as we saw that day. Food was two and a half stars, at best. Portions were smaller than one would expect. Very little meat (chicken and lamb, in our case). Sauces were tasty. Had samosas (very little flavor) and chicken wings (the toughest that I've ever eaten, in my recollection) as appetizers. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Four to five stars for service. There were two tables of Indian families (besides us, that is) which must mean something. TEN STARS!! I was in atlanta for a weekend from florida and as an indian cuisine lover I was craving indian food. Looked up a few places and this place seemed to have the best reviews while having what looked like an authentic menu. This is the best indian food i've had in a few years since moving to florida. Having lived in charlotte and denver before living in orlando now, this is hard to beat. Only six tables in this small restaurant, there were plenty of people picking up food while we ate. I had butter chicken with a side of naan, the food came out quick and HOT Temperature wise and spice. The hot spice level was just enough to burn my mouth to my liking but i've had hotter. The flavor of the food was phenomenal and service was great from when you walk in to when you leave. We had a nice gentlemen checking on us throughout our meal. This is a hole in the wall thats easy to skip but you will be missing out if you do! Not much to see in this pic because the food was too good we forget to get a pic! When I tell you the employees are the friendliest people ever, I mean it! They promptly took my order and let me sit at an empty table while I waited. Great food in a very spartan setting. We ate at Aamar on Sunday after the soccer match. We were looking for a bite to eat while the subway cleared out. Aamar is about a 15 minute walks from MBS. Aamar turns out surprisingly good food in a tiny restaurant with maybe six formica tables.Very basic bordering on divey. But the food is great, the service very helpful and the kitchen is fast. My advice: branch out from the usual tandoori chicken and the tikka masala. The two vegetarian dishes we tried were great. One was okra bhaji, the other was aloo daal (potatoes and lentils in a curry of lovely stuff. We slo got onion chutney which neither of us had tried before and it was terrific. Add to that naan and we had a great meal. Here's my other advice: be brave and order your meal with some spice in it. The waiter said the overwhelming majority of "Americans" order their food "mild." As he said, you miss the complexity of the flavors if you order mild. At least get medium and order some raita (yoghurt and cucumbers) to cool it off. Note: - Like many Indian restaurants in metro Atlanta, the owners are actually Bangladeshi. - If the hour we were there is representative, they do way more take out business than eat in. -Two entrees plus naan were more than enough for two people. After 3 days of eating mediocre overpriced food at Shaky Knees, I had bookmarked this restaurant as a place to go to for dinner on the last day. I was pretty hungry so I probably over-ordered but it was worth it. I had to try the Chicken Wings Aamar style and also ordered the Shaag Aloo. When I first sat down, the server provided a bottle of water free of charge, and were very attentive throughout (even offering another bottle of water when I was almost finished). Chicken Wings Aamar Style - these wings were delicious! The sauce was tangy, similar to a buffalo sauce but with an Indian spice flavor to it. Kinda of like chicken tandoori mixed with buffalo sauce. Very juicy, very messy to eat just like any saucy wings. Shaag Aloo - this dish was very nice, it was a creamy spinach dish with potatoes and onions in it. There was enough of each ingredient to keep it interesting, although there was one large tomato cube in it that I didn't eat (not the biggest fan of cooked tomatoes). It came with a large container of rice, which definitely could've served two people. I couldn't finish the rice at that time so I took it to-go with me. Garlic Naan - The garlic naan was pretty decent, it was more on the thin crispy side of naans, so if you're looking for a super fluffy or bready garlic naan, this probably won't be your favorite. I didn't mind it personally, but I've had better naan. Other - the space inside is small, but the service is very quick and friendly.
