Though we live a six hour flight away from the shoe store once a year we purchase our shoes from Aardvark. They have the fancy foot scanning stuff so they can tell you what is up with your arches or what's down with your arches. The shoe people don't work on commission or anything so whatever shoes are recommending to you. It's based on the fact that the shoes are what your feet need based on the scan. The employees are always super, super helpful and super knowledgeable, and they also have a wide array of orthotics, braces, and workout gear. Wearing the right shoe is going to be the biggest value possible to your feet long-term. Make your feet happy and get them the correct sneakers and don't just wear the shoes that you think are going to benefit your feet turns out I'm often wrong. My feet are much happier now. Plus they have an app so you can get points and stuff just like add a big chain store but you're still shopping local. read more

The staff are so friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic! John helped me personally and was very patient the whole time. They had a great selection of shoes and went through a detailed fitting process to make sure I had shoes that were comfortable for my feet. I ended up going with a shoe they didn't have the size or color in stock that I wanted, and they weren't sure if it could be ordered. I ended up getting a phone call 2 days later that the shoes I wanted had already arrived and were available for me to pick up that same day! Very impressed by how quick they were able to get them in. She was very knowable on measuring my sons foot and was able to make great suggestions for a sneaker that he would like. After being recommended by several locals, I decided to pay Aardvarks a visit. I have been struggling with ankle and knee pain for several years and it was time to finally invest In a good pair of running shoes. It was a bit difficult finding the location in the Bethlehem strip mall, however once we found the store the ambiance was great. It was a very peaceful and welcoming environment. We were met promptly by a professional who scanned and measured specific traits of our feet. She got each of us several great options for shoes and was very patient with us and knowledgeable of the products. Her name is Eileen and she is fantastic. All of the sneakers we purchased matched the prices online. Overall a great experience, the knowledgeable staff and reasonably priced products made the trip to Bethlehem worth while. I am an 87 year old lady who didn't walk for 6 1/2 years, but decided I wanted to walk into the new Cedarbrook building so I was sent to Therapy. My first time in the parallel bars I couldn't even stand up. That was 2 years ago, but this week I walked the length of the gym (65') at one clip. Didn't wear shoes because I have lymphedema & wore lymphedema boots. i was sent to Good Shepherd for help & worked with Denise, a Therapist Angel, & I now wear sneakers & stockings. Denise suggested I should go to Aardvark for sneakers where I met the greatest guy, Andy, who had the patience of a Saint. I was there quite awhile & I noticed every other person working there was very caring also. Amazing shop and service!! I came in about two weeks ago because I was suffering from some knee clicking, let doctor recommended I get shoes specifically for my 3.5 mile round trip walk to work in Boston. My mom recommend this shop as she had recently been fitted for shoes there and I couldn't be happier with the service I received and the shoes I bought! Melissa greeted us, listened to my concerns, measured both my feet, and observed my gait/walk then pulled a few different pairs for me to try. They ACTUALLY help put the shoes on your feet and help to see that they fit well. They were kind to my granddaughter who brought a bouquet of fall leaves in the store with us. New year. New running shoes. The store has been around for decades which probably says something about the quality of their merchandise and their service. When you visit you should expect to get the full-service fitting. You can't jump in and pick a pair because it has your favorite colors. They'll watch you walk, ask about injuries, etc. It's a process so give yourself time. I found our specialist to be detailed and yet genuine and straightforward. She didn't have that elite snobby feel you can get at a place like this. She knew her stuff and communicated effectively. I left knowing more about shoes and with a new pair of Brooks (although not my favorite color!). They validate so park in a garage! read more

I'm back to hitting the road again after 8 years off my feet, and after wandering through the local New Balance and chain sports stores, I was pretty disappointed at what the area had to offer in the advice department. I have some overpronation and other issues, and most everywhere I went had very little to say. Just "look for anything that says stability" and I guess fend for yourself. I'm sorry, but I can't plop down $100+ on a pair of shoes if you can't tell me they are going to work for me. But, I entered the Aardvark Sports Shop and was very, very impressed! Our sales guy didn't first ask me about size or brand, but asked me to take off my shoes and roll up my pants so he could see how I stood. He quickly saw my overpronation and flat feet and asked if I had a budget in mind. Then I found myself quickly surrounded by about 8 boxes. I'd try two different shoes on, then take off the one I disliked most, and try another, until I found one I really liked. Then to put on the mate and run around the store for a few minutes, and I was sold. Their prices are higher than what you might pay at the Finish Line or Foot Locker or any of those chains, but they do sell at MSRP or lower (which is more than I can say of the New Balance store, which was selling a pair of shoes for $10 over MSRP), and you are paying for advice and service. I could save about $20 if I returned my shoes and bought them through some online store, but I prefer to support my local store. I wouldn't have chosen these little Saucony runners without their help. They also carry a large range of exercise apparel and accessories (even energy bars). It's also a great resource if you are looking for local running teams & events; I'm a LONG way from those things, but it's nice to have a good local source for the info. read more

What a great little shoe store. The sales lady was so helpful. She really took her time with me and allowed me to try on several different shoes with and without my own inserts that I brought in. She even let me borrow a pair of socks, which I fell in love with and purchased 2 pairs. Seriously, it was like walking on marshmallows. I'm not from this area and the shoes that I needed weren't in stock. She was able to place an order for me and have them shipped to my house. This woman was also a shoe tying Ninja. I learned clever tricks for my laces. I also learned that they run the yoga studio that is across the hall. If you are out of town you can pay for a drop in class and they provide the mats for you. Your first class is free. Oh and a little Aardvark trivia... I asked why they were called aardvark and the saleswoman said that back when they had phone books they wanted to be listed first. This is a GREAT running store. As a pretty serious runner I always appreciated not only their great selection of running shoes and apparel but their knowledge of these items. I was in need of new sneakers. I am an Emergency Department nurse and good shoes are a must. I was met by a saleswoman who was also helping another customer. The service the other customer was getting was excellent. The associate put each sneaker on the girl and laced them after putting an insert in each shoe. She then had the girl run out in the common area of the shops to see how each sneaker felt. She was getting the royal treatment if I ever saw it. It was like Cinderella herself was getting new running shoes. I, on the other hand was asked to sit in a metal fold out chair and was given very little attention. She brought me 4 pairs of sneakers each of which I put on and was left there to sit. She simply would ask me how the shoes were and when I offered feedback I didn't get past 4 pairs of sneakers. I'm guessing based on the vast selection of sneakers a good fitting pair could be found but the associate made me feel unimportant and almost a bother. It's as if Cinderella took all of her attention and she had no time for me. After the lack of customer service I put my old shoes on and left the store. Sorry to bother you. I hope you don't work on commission and I would not recommend going to this store unless you are an actual princess. read more

They provide personal 1:1 attention and encourage you to try several pair, take a walk or even hop on the tread mill to make sure you find the perfect fit. This is why you go to the independent guys; their customer service can not be out done, Ive purchased several pairs of shoes over that past several years, and always received excellent, attentive service. As someone who took up running only after age 50- believe me when I tell you that I was nervous the first time, going into the shop, afraid to be called out as an imposter. I have only ever experienced warm, welcoming, set me at ease, care from everyone who works there. I called them up today, with questions about some heel pain I was experiencing. Long story short, they assessed my running, inspected my month old shoes, and refit me with a different pair. Jon and Craig were attentive, asked relevant questions, ran me a bit to observe my gait, and sought to find the perfect shoe for the way my foot moves while in action. They also provided me with some options/names of some individuals who might be able to help me improve my running and recovery. You might find it easier to go to someplace like Dick's, rather than deal with downtown parking, but the individualized service, provided by people who ARE runners (as opposed to HS kids just working a job), is what will have me returning again and again. These people are enthusiastic about running. They totally get the enjoyment/frustration, love/hate relationship you may have with running, and they want to do all they can to make it as much of the good stuff, as possible. I cannot recommend them enough. They are simply the best. Looking forward to when Covid restrictions lift, and their group runs can resume. Trust me, they are deserving of your business. read more

My doctor recommended I visit Aardvark to get properly fitted for sneakers as I had a bone spur in my heel. I went to Aardvark in November and tried on several pairs of sneakers. I was only able to walk in the store with them as it was a rainy night and I was unable to walk outside to try them out. I made what I thought was a good selection & at $120.00 I was sure they would work out. After I got them home and wore them one day I realized that my heel was slipping badly so I went back to Aardvark with the brand-new sneakers and a pair of orthotics the doctor had prescribed for me. They ripped the insole of my new sneakers out and placed my orthotic in, I then tried walking in them in the store again and my heel still slipped. The woman waiting on me showed me a very convoluted way to lace the sneakers and again I tried walking in them and they did seem a bit better. After I got home and started wearing the sneaker I realized that it was very uncomfortable with the way they had it laced and my heel still slipped. I would advise anyone going to Aardvark to be very careful with your purchase because obviously they don't like exchanging for something that might work better for you. Don't think I will be visiting Aardvark again as I am now stuck with a $120 pair of sneakers that I can't wear. read more

Bought my second pair of running shoes from this establishment. Their staff is very knowledgeable and actually works to help you save some money. Their attitude is to find something for the customer that fits their exact needs without breaking the bank. Well, market prices for running shoes are what they are. But the money you pay is worth it rather than suffering through aches and pains with a cheaper ill-fitting pair of shoes. And this place will work to make sure what you get is just right. This is one of the most warm and inviting businesses I've ever had the pleasure to come across. The staff is always friendly, and informative.
