This review is strictly for Aaron and not his staff. I have been coming here for years to get my taxes done and my last experience was not a good one. He was rude and didn't explain a thing while he was entering the information into his computer. Instead of actively helping me with my taxes and where I could save money or pay less taxes, he just performed data entry in front of me. Also his demeanor was less than professional and condescending when I explained the documents I gave to him. The tone was rude and not what I'd expected. I also am a new business owner and when I asked about the taxes related to my business he promptly interrupted me and told me I had no real business and people just go around saying they own a business when they don't. I didn't understand & told him I'd made actual sales- which makes me a business owner. I want to make sure everything is done by the books. Either way, there are many write offs he could have helped provide me for my business but he never did. Not sure if he just doesn't know what he's doing or likely, he doesn't care. I'm going to look into another accountant that will actually help me instead of one that charges upwards of $400 to watch him do data entry & treat you disrespectfully. I'd recommend looking into other accountants and not wasting your time and hard earned money here. I was a loyal customer for years, but not anymore. If he doesn't want/need my business then that is fine with me. read more

My experience with Aaron Barlev & Co. was awful. Aaron was my CPA for 2 years and I hired a bookkeeper from his office to reconcile my company's' books. After months of going back and forth with the bookkeeper, I discovered that she had not actually done any data entry or reconciliations but made massive Journal Entries to make her numbers "work". She manipulated my books in a highly unethical way. I was then contacted the day before the extension was about to expire, and told that if I didn't get them additional information immediately that my return would be late and I would get hefty penalties from the FTB & IRS. However, that was the first time I had ever received a request for more information after 8 months of working with the bookkeeper! In addition to that, the information they were requesting was already in their possession as they had done my taxes the previous year as well. So much for thoroughness. Fortunately, after a lot of going back and forth to prove that they failed to provide me the accounting services as they were hired to do, Aaron Barlev & Co. ended up paying for all the penalties and late fees incurred due to his failure to perform as contracted. That amounted to thousands of dollars. I do not recommend this practice for anyone who is concerned with accurate bookkeeping and timely tax filings. read more

His detailed review of my personal tax situation and continued knowledge of tax laws continues to be OUTSTANDING !!! Aaron always returns my calls in a timely manner and is always available to discuss tax issues with any personal decision that I am considering. Now, I met with Aaron on Sunday morning this last weekend to review my taxes. I received my returns back on Tuesday. Now that is prompt service.
