When its time to do your taxes, everyone has someone to go to. This is my place to go to get my taxes done. Every year I come here as soon I can before the Tax season starts. You honestly wouldn't think much of it, and looks can be very deceiving. I always go to Diego. He is the only one I trust. Usually Diego is booked up, so make sure you make an appointment before you go for anything since they might not do walk in. Lets just say the truth, I really thought this place was getto, from the steel bars in front of the office, old couches, and the fact that it was in the middle of silver lake with a tattoo and thai restaurant next door. When you go inside, you don't think it's a CPA office. There are old couches in the front, and then desks lined up towards the back. I guess I'm use to going to offices with fancy decoration, or new modern look to show us that they are successful. But like I said, looks can be deceiving, they are really nice, really really down to earth, they make the whole experience simple, fast, and you will be going on with your day in a jiffy. The only downside is the parking since its only street parking. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a new accountant to come here. read more

H&R Block screwed me over when the IRS audited me and ultimately wouldn't honor their 'guarantee'. A friend referred me to Diego who gladly took me in and ended up getting me a better refund than HR ever did. If you can channel back to the way it felt watching Disney's Robin Hood at age nine then you will understand what it feels like to come here. It starts when you walk in the door, see eclectic art and photos covering the walls, and fresh fruit and treats for patrons. Then you meet the staff and they are all incredibly genuine and kind people. Frank did my taxes and I wanted to give him a hug by the end of it. He broke things down for me into layman's terms and he highlighted areas which would help me increase my return. At one point I needed to collect additional information from my employer and he not only waited patiently for 20 minutes while I was on the phone but allowed me to use his computer. I gave this place 5 stars because I had the funniest experience when I got my taxes done. A guy by the name of Diego Ortiz helped me out with my taxes, and the guy looked like a shrinked up version of the situation from Jersey shore. He was Mexican with a New York accent but never lived there! Lol pretty weird. BUT, he was able to get me a pretty big return and only charged me $65! Now that's cheap! I went last year and was received by courteous staff.I used one of the preparers.She filed and all went well, until she back filed a previous year for me.I later received a letter from IRS because my name did not match.She originally used only one of my last names to file.Then used two last names on my second return.Until now , it is still an issue which I have to fix with IRS..I gave the preparer the benefit of the doubt because it may have been an over sight or system issue.I went back this year and my taxes were not Efiled as agreed because a "no name match " again!!Only to find out she had pasted the wrong last name to my dependent (daughter).. Now I will have to deal wit IRS and fix that issue also since the return was delivered to IRS with wrong info.. Nice , courteous people but i am in a bind for their mistakes!!!! read more

I needed a tax preparer stat because I'm moving, so I blindly trusted the previous Yelp reviews on this page. I was not disappointed. I went to Diego after reading the other comments. I was waaaay early to the appointment, and he still happily helped me. He took his time to make sure I got the refund I deserved. He charged me $100, which based on the other reviews may or may not be higher than normal. But I was happy with his work and that fee seems fair. This place is really special. Just had my taxes prepared by them today. Was not a fan. Won't be returning. They know the general but are no experts (it's obvious when you see them doing mistakes and you yourself have to correct them). I went here because of the positive reviews, and the deal they had (no real "deal" in my eyes.. Still more expensive in the end then other places) was greatly disappointed as I had high hopes. Sure they are really nice guys I give them that... Here is the issue I had.......My wife and I got upset at their "deal" and what we paid for because when she called and asked their price they gave us a reasonable price. BUT when we got their and they saw the deal Diego increased the price and said the price they gave us on the phone was wrong. So we ended up paying the deals value ($145 for $95) plus an extra $70...... but I did not want to argue so I just paid the guy and got out. So this guy made a few mistakes we caught an corrected. And then when I got home to review it I now see he couldn't even get the correct copy of the w-2 attached. If your having it done by "professionals" and not yourself you at least expect them to attach the correct copy of our w-2s to the correct federal/state return as the correct copies clearly state copy B goes here, copy 2 is for etc... He put a state for the federal and a copy on the other. Might not be a big deal (not sure, have to fix that) but it did bug me at how I organized and inexperience they are. Again. Will not return. Was hoping this would be my go to place for future tax returns.... No thank you. For tax purposes go elsewhere. read more

My husband and I had a rude awakening with our taxes this year. Having always done my taxes online, I decided to finally shell out some money in hopes of saving even more. I called the office (two weeks before taxes are due- standard procrastinator) and was able to make an appointment for the very next day and in the evening which worked out great for our schedules. Diego was ready for us as soon as we got there and we immediately got to work. The whole experience was quick and relatively painless. I didn't expect him to be able to snap his fingers and make everything we owed go away, but he definitely helped in a very ethical and efficient way. His rate was $95 (I think it varies a bit for everyone depending on how many forms you require) but we found that to be very fair. I'm planning on visiting him again this time next year! read more
