Our family has been going to Robert Chiu and their office for years now whenever tax season comes around, and have come to trust the work they do are in the best interest of the customer. They make it pretty hassle-free to get taxes done for a reasonable price. Even during the pandemic, I appreciate the safety precautions this office takes and it's still as efficient as before. Appointments aren't required. No one is physically allowed into the office, but you can still walk up to the office during tax season and pass over all your documents to the front desk. They'll handle it while you wait around outside and have a few chairs spread out for those who want a seat. As a returning customer, it only took me about 30mins on a Friday afternoon to be in and out of there this year with my taxes filed. Just did my taxes, and I just realized that I've never yelp them before, so here it is. I have been doing my taxes here for over 20 years. Located in Chinatown, it's kind of far from my house, but we like them that much that we will drive all the way to downtown for them, and since your in Chinatown, you can get dinner around here too. Located in an older multi story building, under ground parking is available, and free with validation. Escalator has been broken for years, so take the elevators. There are two accounting business here, on the 2nd fl., and right next door to each other. Rober Chiu is the one on the left. Just an average size and average looking office, nothing special as far as the decor goes. We originally used Mr. Chiu, but after years of using him, he was busy one time, and we ended up using another accountant within his office. That's when we met his assistant, Miranda, she is just great. She speaks both english and chinese, she is very nice, friendly and attentive, she is extremely smart and helpful. She's always aware of new tax laws that are out. We haven't stopped using her since. Going on about 16 years now. Great service, free parking, what more can you ask for? We will be back next year, 5 stars from me. read more

Wished we found this accounting office sooner! We've tried HR block and another well rated accountant in downtown the previous years. Got the taxes done, paid what we owed. And that was the end. This year, we decided to go with my coworkers' recommendation. And finally I understand why my entire office goes to them. Michael (Robert's son) assisted my 2019 filing. He was so thorough, super patient, and beyond informative. With the Stay at Home order in place, it was a lot of emailing back and forth. But we never felt rushed. He even gave us some recommendations on how to save for retirement. When the refund was delayed due to Covid, his office even followed up and gave us a call when they had any updates. Reasonably priced (he even wrote us a breakdown) - so much more affordable than what we've paid elsewhere! I cant recommend Michael enough! read more

The accountant are okay. However, they are terrible at communication. The most terrible is the customer service people are horrible. I called today to check the status of my taxes. The person who answered is so unprofessional and started giving me attitude. She said we are busy, we can't help you. I ask can you transfer my call to the accountant helping me. She was really rude about it too. Basically, if you want to be insulted go do your taxes here. read more

My parents have been clients for 20+ years. I have been a client for almost a decade. Everyone I've come in contact with here are friendly and knowledgeable. I love the fact that they are open everyday during the filing period so I could come in whenever and be done in less than 30 mins. My comment is more on Vikkay M. than Robert L. Chiu. "Ripped me off. Never coming back here again." is actually an extremely bad review. It's very vague and not informative at all (yet some user thought it was useful). If you really want to give 1 star review, then at least she should be able to explain her experience there so others can make informed decision... Just to counteract her 1 star comment, I am going to give 5 starts and add my review "He totally saved me money. Coming back here again and again, year after year" On a serious note, I am relatively a new customer. My coworker recommended him to me a few years back and ever since I bought a place, it's been bit tough to just get by with turbo tax. So he's been preparing my tax stuff for past two years. I liked him enough that I recommended him to another friend of mine. The place is not the cleanest place on earth, but I am not going there for that. I am going there because I want to file my tax correctly and get the most money back at the same time. And that's exactly what he did for me. This year, he even compared text boxes from previous year and made sure everything was accurate and that there was no mistake. If he saw anything funny, he would ask me questions and adjust anything that was incorrect or unclear (thus I was able to save more money) He was good at answering all of my questions. I mean he is not going to sit with you for 45mins and explain everything to you, but the 10-15 mins I spent with him was very valuable for me. In case you didn't know. When you visit his office, one of his staff will sit with you and prepare the tax paper with you. After that, Robert will review the paper with you and go in-depth with. I admit that I hadn't seen other CPAs and I don't have any reference point. However based on all the stories my friends have been telling me regarding their CPA, I am quite confident that Robert knows what he is doing and I don't really have any reason to look for a new CPA. read more

Tax season! Was searching for the right CPA located near the downtown/Chinatown area and stumbled across this Yelp account. I know they only have 1 review but something about it made me want to call and see what their walk in hours were. My boyfriend and I walked in without an appointment on Saturday morning around 10 AM and was greeted by a friendly receptionist that got our personal information ready for our accountant Michael. He was so cool about everything and was easy to talk to! And I can honestly say he tried his best to get as much money (tax return) back for my boyfriend. While we were there we noticed it was starting to get busy with other customers and I realized majority of them were elders. So whoever is looking for an accountant to trust and trying to get as much tax return as possible, I highly recommend Michael!
