As a result by the time I was married in 2001, I needed to file bankruptcy due to a long list of things like medical bills. I went to Scott and he help my wife and through the process. He was reasonably priced and very knowledgeable in the law. It was an amazingly painless process. Thanks to his help we got a fresh start and things were great. Within two years we bought our first house and a few years later got our first no interest car loans. Our credit score was nearing 700 only 5 years after the bankruptcy. Then in 2011, the recession hit and my wife lost her job again. Things went south and we were forced to file another bankruptcy 9 years later. It was heartwrenching to be back in that position again. However, again Scott helped us out. We tried a Chapter 13 first and when we couldn't do that we switched to a Chapter 7. In all three bankruptcies, Scott was professional, knowledgeable and unbelievably helpful. Filing bankruptcy is a stressful process. I can't stress enough how important it is to have adequate legal representation. Scott doesn't have a big flashy office or huge advertisements and that's why I like him. As a result he's cheaper than most. Our Chapter 7 was only $699 including his fees and he let us make payments on that. I hope you don't have to file bankruptcy but if you do, I would recommend Scott Mitchell.

In fact, over the course of 5 months, the BK payment changed 4 times and finally doubled from the start because of bad paperwork and poor advice. I won't even mention trying to get a hold of anyone in the office. It was a rare occasion to have someone answer the phone that could answer questions and most of the time there was no answer or a child answered to take a message. The offices are an absolute disaster with files piled everywhere with no organization that I could see. I do not recommend this office for a bankruptcy ever!

I gave the seller $10K (mistake 3) and made a year of timely payments (mistake 4). The next thing I knew a guy showed up at my house saying he owned the house, and wanted me to pay rent to him. He showed me a contract from the same seller who had apparently sold the house again. I didn't know what to do, so I made the new "owner" two payments (mistake 5) which I thought were ownership payments, not rent payments. On top of that there was a bank which had started a foreclosure. Needless to say the transaction I entered into had gone crazy wrong and I needed help. I heard from a realtor friend about James Ziter who apparently is a respected real estate lawyer in Utah. I called him, and I'm lucky I did. First, he was easy to contact. Every time I called, I either spoke with him, or got a fast call back. I had an appointment within one day. He instructed me to immediately stop making payments to anyone, and got between me and the "2nd Owner", and got between me and the original seller. Ziter explained that there was no way this deal was going to work out good for me and because of what he described were other people that had recorded liens on the house, I would never be able to own the house. I stayed in the house without payments for 5 months while Ziter shook my down payment out of the original seller in installments. I almost got all of my money back. All things considered, Ziter helped me escape a really bad deal that had taken all the money I had in the world. Next time I'm calling him BEFORE I try and buy a house.
