This was my first time at Aaron Metals and I have to say its one of the best companies out there. I've been to a few recycling locations and Aaron Metals has the highest paid prices. Everything here runs smoother and much faster. They have big bins which save time. Make sure you have aluminum cans, plastic, and glass separate because they won't let you separate on their property if everything is mixed. At other recycling centers they make your separate clear, brown, and green glass. At Aaron Metals it doesn't matter the color of the glass. It all goes into the bin. When you back up with your truck. You're not allowed to grab a bin and start unloading. You need to wait for one of the ladies to bring the bin to you. My brother and I were here no more than 30 minutes. I called to confirm they were open (assuming they wouldn't pick up), and they picked up on the second ring! Most recycle places I've called do not answer, or transfers to a random outside company. I arrived on a Friday afternoon (2 pm) and got helped immediately. This was considered a "slow" day too, so I got lucky and didn't have to wait at all. - They first ask you to back into the spot, then you take out the bags you want to recycle. - They have workers helping you with the bags and to organize/separate the different type of bottle materials. - You then follow them as they push the cart inside the warehouse. - They weigh your items then give you a receipt to bring to another window to cash out. This went by fairly quickly and easy! I was pleasantly surprised of their system. I wasn't sure if you were supposed to tip the workers who help you outside until you go inside the warehouse with signs saying "no tipping" everywhere. All in all, Aaron Metals was extremely organized and speedy. You get back a decent amount for recycling with them too! So glad I found them...I'll definitely be back. Thank you! Tip: GPS (my Waze) brought me to the wrong address. It told me to turn on Depot Rd, when you should make a left onto Clawiter. Matt and Marlene. I couldn't forget there names because they treated me like family. I've been to countless recycling centers in my life but Aaron Metals in Hayward is by far the best! It stared the moment I drove up. There were four or five vehicles backed in against a dock where personal with ALL of the safety gear were unloading trucks. There wasn't one person standing around. I saw every person on the dock and everywhere else working like they were working on their own stuff. The have you sit in your truck while they unload. Wow! It took me an hour to load close to 500 lbs of air conditioning coils and they were out of my truck in a few minutes? Yes! I've been to other recycling centers where you get mud, oil, dirt, and other things on your shoes. Then the shell game where it's not very transparent when it comes to knowing the value of each type of metal and pricing. The fact is that I thought it was all the same price for the stuff I brought in but the man who unloaded my truck was separating things and as it was I had 4 types of material. Who knew? They do and they are honest about it. That's a fact. A nice young man named Matt invited me inside and told me they just started letting one at a time in. I was delighted! This guy, Matt. I used to camp out at the "back of the supermarket parking lot" spaces and slowly drag by bags of recycles with me every foot as the line moved up. You stand in line that barely moves, you are standing in dried up sticky glue, because people will pour out the liquids while standing in line (beer and soda), which leads to the old beer smell all over. And then there is the people that have no sense of personal space, as they always walk up and make like they are trying to pass you in line!!!! Well no more! This is one step up, like drive through coffee shops for the lazy, you back into a spot and the workers will unload and sort everything for you. I arrived on a Saturday morning. If you can, back into a space near the grey raised loading dock. If that is full, there are five designated spaces near the loading dock but towards the entrance for you to back into. I took a number, but asked as there were not too busy and were not using the number system. I opened my trunk, and they got rid of my junk in the trunk. After they have finished the unloading process, walk up the customer ramp and wait inside for your recycles to be weighed. After you get your weight receipt, you head to the cashier to get paid out. I like the message feature because I personally HATE calling yards asking price it makes me feel overwhelmed and stupid, cos there is always something you forget to ask about. With RePlanet having closed all of their redemption centers as of early August, 2019, we wanted to find the best place to take all of our CRV items. We previously took our items to any of the three redemption centers on Alameda. Aaron metals takes all of the items we recycle only at their Hayward location. No problem, we loaded up the Honda Element to the brim and headed down to Hayward. I was pleased to drive up to a well-organized, clean and well-staffed location. We separate our items at home so it was easy and efficient to give the employee all our stuff. After getting loaded into several rolling bins, we followed her up the ramp inside the warehouse where our items were weighed and we got our $52 cash. Simple and easy. Laws and places like these are why most of the US doesn't bother to recycle their cans. I understand some people abused the recycling system by bringing their cans out of state but for christ sakes, aluminum is aluminum. Recycle that crap and move on with our days. I have better things to do then drive back home and sort which aluminum cans have CA CRV engraved in it or not. I can paint a freaking painting or cook dinner for two in the time I sort that crap out. Its like they think we collect cans because thats all we do in our life. The only plus side to this place is it gives $1.95/lb for CA CRV aluminum. Unfortunately, since I have better use of my time then go home and sort which crap is CA CRV, I sold it for 0.35/lb and got a whopping $8! Seriously, I'd rather throw that crap away then go through the hassle. I would have given this place 4 stars since I know the CA CRV law is not their fault and they're only trying to follow the law but since some of the workers were condescending towards me, I'll give them 2 stars. Also, one of the workers in the background called me an "impatient idiot" so that should justify it. Yes, I speak 4 languages, including Spanish, even though I look like a ghetto chinese kid. I wasn't being belligerent or being a dick, I just wanted go on with my day. I just wanted to dump those cans there and go. I don't really care about the money since I can make that money easily somewhere else for 1/100 of the time I was there. Aaron Metals Hayward has got to be the cleanest, most organized, and best paying recycling center & scrap yard that I've been to. The staff is helpful and friendly, offering to help you unload your car or truck and placing your metals into different bins for you. Whenever I bring in my non-ferrous, I can always expect to get the best prices from them with good service. They pay more for copper and aluminum than many of the other local yards. The weight was short. Dammit, I really wanted to make this my new recycling place too. Prior to taking in my cans I weigh them all at home with an accurate digital postage scale. I use fishing weights to double-check the accuracy at low weight (ounces) and used some free weights to test pounds. Tared everything out with my container on the scale then weighed all the cans. I had 24.50 pounds of cans (rounded down). My normal expectation of some where between 1-2 pounds difference either way is a very generous margin of error in my opinion. I was told my cans weighed a total of 21.2. A little over 3 pounds short. Sure, not a huge dollar amount when you add it up (about $6) but just like I don't try to cheat them by trying to add weight to the cans or bottles or sneak in non-CRV items, I expect them to give me a fair shake on the net weight. I'm really disappointed because this is BY FAR the cleanest, most organized and easiest recycling center I've ever been to. After you back in to the unloading area you select a number and wait for it to be called. Someone will take your recyclables, sort through them to find anything that doesn't belong, and walk the totes up to the scale area with you. Would easily be a 5-star review if they paid you for the accurate weight. While my 24.50 pounds of aluminum cans was 3+ pounds short I also normally take in somewhere between 70-100 pounds of plastic too. This is too much of a hassle to weigh before I take it in but I have to assume I was shorted on my plastic as well. Was told that their scales are certified accurate and the error must be on my side. I don't doubt for a second that those scales are accurate as is required. It's the stated weight of their totes that are usually suspect. Was told I could go somewhere else which I could have, but at this point all my cans and bottles were out of their bags and on a scale. Wasn't looking to argue about it so after I brought it to their attention I just let it go and took the paper they handed me to the cashier. They weren't rude about it, and neither was I, they could just care less, which I get. I'm giving this place one more try. As clean and easy as it is if they don't weigh and pay fair it's not worth it. I'll just chalk this one up to coming on a bad day but if next time's weight is short, I'll know if this is just how they do business. Really hope it was just a bad day. read more

Thank you to people writing great Yelp reviews for Aaron Metals. Made me decide to see how they operated. The experience was great. Two women came up to my car and unloaded my cans and plastic bottles. They were very efficient. It was so clean, tidy, orderly. After my cans and bottles were weighed, I answered the questions so next time I will be in their system. I received my cash and was quickly on my way. It seemed like the money I received was more than I am used to receiving at the other dirty inefficient place. Wonderful experience. I will return when I have more recycling. We usually go to a place in San Leandro on Davis to recycle our cans and bottles. I use "we" lightly because I HATE to go to that one and don't go often with the Mr. That one is dirty, slow and busy. I digress ... Back to Aaron Metals ... I reeeeally like this place!! I guess if I could "love" a recycling place for my cans and bottles, this would be the spot. We went here for the first time and it was soooo organized and clean. Yes - CLEAN, which is not typical of places like this. They have bins with wheels so that you can wheel your goods to the scales. Genius right?! You don't have to drag your bottles and guard them to make sure no one takes them. Also, getting paid is quick and safe. It's secure since you're getting cash, no one can see how much you're collecting. Again, I like this place and the workers. All worked very hard, were nice and helped. - And no that is not a biased opinion being that ALL of the workers that day were WOMEN. =) Definitely recommend for recycling plastic bottles, cans, scrap metal, etc.!!! This place used to be a go to place for me to recycle. Now, it's a joke. 1st, you have to get in line (sitting in your car) for empty spot, and your license plate will be taken. Then, if you have a mixed of plastic/cans, you have to bring them all back home and sort them out yourself. Even you offered you will sort it out yourself right at that spot. But too bad they asked you to take your mixed bags home. After all of long line waiting, you had to turn around and go home. I'll find some other recycle center. I came here for the very first time in March; had many months of recycling piled up--so all said and done, totalled out to $75--for household cans and bottles. I'd gotten fed-up with my local Nex Cycle rip-off experience (CV--can't speak to all their sites); so looked to Yelp to help me out with consumer feedback on where to go. Am glad to have learned about Aaron's--they have this process so streamlined, it was fast, efficient, seamless really. The employees could tell I was a "newbie" to their operation, so were friendly and helpful, even (dare I say?!) cheerful! I'd only seen surly recycle folks in my earlier experiences! Friendly: organized: easy. this was my first visit to Aaron Metals. Upon driving into their establishment i was immediately directed of where to go with clear instructions. i backed up in the designated spot. From there a crew helped me to unload and they took it from there - sorting the different types of copper, stainless steel and such. they had clippers which cut cords and plugs. just bring them all the stuff and they do all the work. they will give you back anything which they cannot take; in my case it was mainly plug large ends which they cut off. after it was all sorted, i was told to approach the weigh station; they wanted me to make sure i saw how much was weighed and calculated. adam, who worked behind the desk was inquisitive and friendly. he then showed me my totals to produce a check or ticket to take to the window. overall the experience was quite positive, everyone was helpfu and welcoming and i would go back for any future recycling needs.
