I just had a wonderful experience here at the recycling center. The men are friendly and efficient. I learned that they had been here for about 18 years. Wow! This is one of the few recycling centers left in the East Bay and I'm appreciative that they're close by and open most days/hours. It's right next to the 580 freeway entrance and within the same plaza as a liquor store. Generally, every bottle/can/glass needs to say "CA-CRV" on it otherwise it will not be counted and thrown out. However, starting January 1, 2024 in the state of CA, you can recycle empty wine and hard liquor bottles, boxed/bladders/pouches containing wine, distilled spirits, wine coolers, or distilled spirit coolers and large juice containers for cash! That's music to anyone's ears. Check out CalRecycle for more info: https://calrecycle.ca.gov/bevcontainer/basics/ I recommend sorting your items ahead of time by type, which will help because you're going to need to separate them into trash bins anyway. When it's busy, there may be a guy directing traffic as there is a small lot that is partially shared with the rest of the small plaza. Usually, cars will need to wait on the street and once a spot opens up, they'll be flagged to drive in. Many of the workers speak Spanish, the one directing traffic and weighing the recyclables are bilingual (Spanish/English). For approximately 4-5 bins (combo of glass, plastics, cans), I earned ~$20.50 which wasn't bad. Check their rates each time! Happy recycling y'all! :) read more

This place is good for what it does and they're pretty quick in helping you sort, but it was extremely disappointing that all of the wine bottles, hard alcohol, and other plastic bottles we've accumulated over the years or however long were not accepted. Such a waste. We had buckets and loads of large trash bags full of recycling they rejected. There were plenty of places prior to COVID that took all of that, but this place is extremely strict on the CRV or CA label. For large glass bottles, they will take Martinelli's apple cider bottles because they are labeled with CRV, but that was pretty much the only thing aside from the beer bottles, soda cans/bottles, juice bottles, etc. Pro-tip: sort your recycling prior to coming - by type, by glass color, etc. They have a bunch of guys that don't speak English there - mostly Spanish, and then there's an offer gentleman that only speaks Chinese. One guy who did the weighing spoke English. The parking lot is tiny and easy to miss, but it's located right next to the liquor store right along the freeway entrance. They told me as a disabled person I couldn't just mark my place in line and then wait in a way that was most physically comfortable and they told me I must do it their way or not at all and refuse to make any accommodations for disabled person . I'll be suing them in small claims court to say the least but don't do business here there's plenty of other places to recycle cans that don't discriminate read more

Three stars are not enough. These people are fast, friendly and courteous. It's where I will be going.

I hadn't gone to a recycling center in over 10 years but Covid had made our household drink way more and it felt like a waste not trying to get the crv back from our cans. This is one of the few spot that I could find in the area that was still in business. The first time I tried going, I left after the shock at the line of cars across the street waiting their turn. I returned the week after with my entire load and had about 10 cars ahead of me. It's a bit confusing as there are no signs on where the line and I wish they had an a-board sign at the end of the intersection to announce that the line was directly across the street, likely starting at end before the turn. They have a good system down by having multiple cars drive into their lot at once and unloading their recyclables into bins. The employees then drag the bins over to weigh and pay you out right there. A few pointer is to not leave a gap when the car in front of you moves forward. There was a bit of an ordeal as the lady behind me did not drive up and a random van with 3 entitled senior citizens decided to pull in. There was a bit of an argument as they proceeded to follow right after me into the lot, thereby cutting the 7 cars in front of them. I told them it was not cool what they did and they proceeded to ignored me while belittling the employees asking how people on bikes would just go directly (they were in a car so how was that even relevant?). They gave no f and kept yelling at the employees asking for bins. The entire trip took an hour from getting in line to getting cash for my cans. The people working there are fast and this was probably the cleanest recycling facilities I've seen in a long time. read more

Was very convenient drop off. Took less than 5 minutes since I already pre sorted everything. The guys there also helped look through the cans in case anything wasn't supposed to be there. The only downside was the rates were a little low. read more

The guy is a rip off artist but at least I got rid of all my cans. Oh and make sure you separate your plastics & glass.

While the site is small and the waits can be long, I've got to thank them for even being there, after almost everyone else has stopped offering the recycling service. That is why I'm giving them 4 stars. If not for their service I'd just be throwing away 366 beer cans each year. More than just the money is involved. Hate to waste a perfectly formed can by dumping it into the landfill. Not sure what happens to the ones you put in your home recycling can. At least with American Recycling you get back your $20 deposit. read more

Been here before, and glad they are still open. Small place. TIP1: line up on the street, then when opening in their parking lot, go in. Tip 2: Sort your stuff ahead of time! Isn't it common knowledge aluminum cans and plastic bottles crv is different? Help everyone out, workers and clients, as 3 parking spaces and the time you take to sort after you park is time everybody has to wait for you! I wish I could give them NO stars. I came in on a Tuesday and it wasn't that busy however the employees took their friend before anyone and he was the only one that wasn't required to sort his bottles and cans. Everyone else sat there for 15-20 mins sorting their recyclables. They also took him right away. He was in and out within 2-3 mins. STAFF IS RUDE! Way different than when I came here 2 years ago. Hire better staff who will treat everyone equally. read more

Its been over a year since I went here, because they didn't pay out as much as others and the line was always really long. There weren't many people there this time. I got a bad attitude from the employee, giving me confusing instructions, not allowing me to fill up the cans at my car, which I've always done. I ended up leaving with the cans. Its worth the drive out to Livermore, they are much nicer out there. read more
