UPDATE: A few minutes after writing this review, TN Appliance Exchange reached out and provided the…read morenecessary refund via PayPal. Increasing this review by one star considering my request was eventually resolved; yet our experience stands as not stellar. Everything I am about to describe is through a lens of utmost patience and understanding, considering the COVID pandemic and the strains it undoubtedly places on businesses like this. Our first appointment was on August 20. On arrival, our technician was professional and knowledgeable. He quickly identified the issue, and explained the part would need to be ordered. Aug. 24, I reached out asking about any updates on our repair and learned the part was still only marked as "ordered" with no ETA. No problem. The technician had explained that there were some constraints on parts due to the pandemic. Ten days later, Sept. 3, I had not heard anything, so I reached out again about any updates. Two hours after reaching out, I got a reply asking if they could send someone out to install the part on Sept. 4. Either my timing was uncanny, or the part had been in their possession for a while and no one had thought to be proactive about completing my repair. I am willing to concede this point and chalk it up to good timing. The day of the appointment, Sept. 4th, we got the same technician. He installed the part needed to repair our refrigerator and noticed and pointed out that it looked like our fridge may have a leak caused by a faulty water inlet valve. The timing of this is a little tricky, because our home warranty expired in the time we were waiting for the control board, and so this inlet valve may or may not be covered by the same work order. Our technician says he would still update the notes on our case to see about getting that part installed. Sept. 8th, I reached out to ask about any updates to our case, assuming that the company was going to be proactive about checking on the coverage of the part and giving us options to have the part replaced. I received the reply, "Hello, I do see a note requesting the water inlet valve." Once again, assuming the company is going to be proactive, I take this as indication that things progressing. Ten days later, Sept. 18th, I have not heard anything, so I reach out again asking for an update. I explain that I realize our home warranty may not cover the part, so I would like to get a quote for how much it would cost to replace out of pocket. TN Appliance Exchange quickly emailed me a quote, and I agreed to pay out of pocket for the replacement. The next business day, Sept. 20th, I receive word they have ordered the water inlet valve for us, and schedule a Sept. 30th appointment for replacing the part. Sept. 30th, 26 days after we'd identified that we needed this part to fix our refrigerator, the same technician that has been to the house both previous times arrived to replace the part. He was pleasant and quickly replaced the part. He turned on the water to our fridge and left. Not realizing he had turned on the water, I went behind the fridge and turned the valve. (Thinking I was turning it on, but actually turning it off. This ended up being a good thing.) That afternoon, I realized no ice had been made, and realized my mistake. I turned on the water, and very shortly after the water was turned on, the ice maker began drawing water, and water began spewing out of the back of our refrigerator. In retrospect, it seems very obvious that the technician should have stuck around the confirm that his repair fixed our water leak before leaving. I reached out by email immediately, explaining that the repair had failed, and attempting to provide photos of the issue. I did not hear back. Nine days later, Oct. 9, I reached out again explaining I have not yet heard back, and that I am resigned to not using our ice maker, and would just like a refund for the part. TN Appliance Exchange agreed to this and said they would issue a check to us. Oct. 29, we had not received the check, so I reached out. They told us the check must have gotten lost in the mail and they will issue another. Nov. 17, today, we have yet to receive a check and I have reached out requesting an update. It has been nearly 40 days. If I ever receive a refund, I will update this review.
