Over the last 7 years we accumulated MANY quotes for our basement waterproofing in search of that ONE that would fit our financial needs AND has a great reputation! The most recent round of quotes this year included AB Drain. The owner, Jason, spent over a hour at our home and took the (extra) time explaining each red flag and then what factors caused each one. He might be the first person who is more of a stickler for details than myself (at least that's what I've been told haha)! In all seriousness though, this guy KNOWS his stuff and LOVES what he does, which was obvious to both my sis and I by the passion in his voice talking about things that are not typically passionate (mold, drains etc). He even pointed out things that prior companies did not catch about my basement and also my plumbing because they were too busy trying to scare me or pressure me instead of genuinely wanting to solve my obvious major water soaked basement. The next day we received the VERY thorough quote, sticking to his word of beating the lowest out of the 12 other bids we accumulated over the years. But, my decision was made prior to even receiving it to be honest! Jason and his work crew stuck to his seemingly overzealous original time line of 5 days considering the state and size of my basement, which was non-negotiable since the fam will be staying here for the holiday! They worked very hard, long hours and super efficient and organized, which was much appreciated! They cleaned up every night before leaving including removing the plastic sheeting having to re-tape off the rest of the house each morning - they were fantastic. I appreciated that Jason sent me a synopsis each morning of what they planned for the day and then a wrap up each evening with what they accomplished. He even changed out all the plumbing for our bathroom down there, amongst many other freebies that we fully expected to be charged for, including remediating the black mold throughout the basement when Servpro quoted me $12,000 JUST FOR THAT TASK, which these guys completed as a courtesy! Lastly, after settling up with Jason, I received over 200 PHOTOS and videos documenting every step of the waterproofing job along with one of the most concise lifetime guarantees I've received in a long time if not ever... essentially if my basement ever takes on water or the mold returns then Jason will return within 24 hours to address it PERIOD. No small print excusing them of honoring their work. He assured me many times that I'll never have a reason to call and I believe it based on our overall experience with his company. But I proved him wrong! I already reached out to him but not because of any issues with my clean smelling dry basement making through its first big Ohio storm( which I'm sure seeing my name gave him a heart attack haha) but to let him know that BOTH of my neighbors have the same problem as I did and will be calling to set up a quote... full disclosure though Jason, I wanted to make sure that when they hire you guys, I'll get that cash bonus for each referral! After this, Mamma needs the $$$$ for Christmas gifts right around the corner! Okay. Mic drop. Exit stage left. I can't say enough good things about AB Drain and Construction. From the very first phone call, I knew this company was different. When I called, the owner, Jason, answered the phone himself, and he was also the person who came out to my home for the quote. Jason spent over an hour with me in our basement, fielding the laundry list of questions I had that were not satisfactorily answered by any of the prior companies who came out before him while carefully explaining what was happening with our foundation, where the moisture was coming from, and why interior waterproofing would permanently solve the issues we were experiencing. They carefully moved years' worth of knick-knacks and boxes stacked nearly to the ceiling away from the walls, sealed off the basement properly, and put down floor coverings to protect our home. Their attention to detail was remarkable. It was obvious that this crew truly loves what they do, and it shows in the quality of their work and level of professionalism which it was completed. When they were finished, they left our basement cleaner than when they found it. They took care of everything from start to finish in less than a week!! I want to also address the fact that the communication was excellent throughout the entire process. Jason checked in with us before and after each day of work, so we always knew exactly what to expect. As homeowners in our early 70's (we are NOT elderly!!!), this could have been a very stressful undertaking -- but they made it completely stress-free for us. And most importantly, since AB Drain completed the waterproofing, our basement has remained completely dry, even through the freeze-thaw cycles we used to dread every single year. For the first time in over a decade, my wife and I can safely use our dry, clean, mold-free basement. "I called numerous drainage companies to deal with our back yard, which is a swamp 11/12 months a year. From the FEW that actually had the courtesy to answer my call, make the appointment, show up on time and then provide a written quote in a timely manner, Jason at AB Drain won the job hands down! He spent over an hour at my house on a Saturday evening going over the causes of the constant water pooling in my yard and answered every question in a way that I could tell he knew his stuff! I made my mind up before he even left my property that night. When I received his quote, he was extremely thorough explaining each step in great detail, something that was severely lacking with the other few quotes I received. The best part was that his price was under our budget and was the second lowest but included much more that the others did not include, such as hauling away the excess dirt from the french drain, grading out the yard afterwards and using high grade piping instead of that black corrugated garbage!! He kept us in the loop approaching the start date and throughout the job itself, providing us updates daily. I wasn't there for two of the days but he took hundreds of photos during the job that were awesome seeing how it all came together and what is now under the grass!! His crew worked their butts off without taking lengthy breaks or talking on their phones all day...God bless them! Jason was on the job the entire time, which you don't see often being that he is the owner. He was just as dirty and sweaty as his crew at the end of the days. It took them 5 days to install 400 feet of french drain, a sump pump and then 300 feet of downspout drains that all drained into a small retention pond he installed at the back of our farm. I won't lie that I questioned whether it would function as he promised but since the install it has poured many times with local flooding even. Those rains would leave out yard as a swamp for weeks afterwards but not now! It all worked in unison and leaves our yard functional, dry and our plot able to take on seed for the first time in a decade without washout concern! These guys are top notch! Jason provided a transferable lifetime warranty on labor, which was not offered by any of the others who submitted bids (and charged more than him)! I would highly recommend these guys if you are in a jam like I was with my basement flooding! I have a finished basement. They delivered big time! Not only was it $8,000 less than the lowest bid but the basement is dry as a bone now and they were able to put the basement back together flooring and walls to make it look like they were never here! All of the promises he personally made to me regarding their system and how it will keep the basement bone dry have been met and surpassed with flying colors. Throughout the last 4 plus years we have been through monstrous floods, record breaking rainfall seasons, more freeze-thaw cycles than I can count without one single drop of water on our finished floors or, on the baseboard/drywall/framing installed on top of the concrete trenches! Both sump pumps have been battle tested and are still keeping up without a hiccup (I have to admit that I was hesitant when Jason swore by a brand that I have never heard of (Drummond) but again they came as advertised or even better than the commercial brands such as Rigid and Zoeller!). The cherry on top of this 10 star all around service is that we have made almost a thousand dollars referring our friends and family who have drainage issues in their basement or in their yards!! AB Drain did an excellent job waterproofing our basement and installing new underground downspout drains. Jason thoroughly explained the cause of our water problems and gave us an honest, affordable solution without any pressure. He worked alongside his crew, and everyone was professional, hardworking, and respectful of our home. They kept the basement protected during the project, cleaning everything up when they finished, and made sure the downspouts carried water safely away from the foundation.
