We have been with Abacus since my daughter was 10 months old, and I truly couldn't be happier with our experience. The staff is amazing, caring, and genuinely invested in the children. One of the things I love most is that everyone knows my daughter by name and makes her feel welcomed and loved every day. The director, Ms. Brianna, has been wonderful and always goes above and beyond to support both the children and parents. The curriculum is excellent, and I've seen my daughter grow and excel so much during her time here. We have loved all of her teachers, especially Ms. Sonia in the 2-year-old classroom and now Ms. Kierra and Ms. Emily in the 3-year-old classroom. They are patient, nurturing, engaging, and truly care about each child's development and my daughter loves being with them every day. The daycare provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks, which is such a convenience for parents. They also offer plenty of outdoor playtime and a variety of well-rounded activities that keep the children learning and having fun. The staff was also incredibly helpful during the potty-training process, making it a much smoother transition for both my daughter and our family. I highly recommend this daycare to any parent looking for a safe, loving, and educational environment for their child. We have been sending our kids here for the past few years. Both our kids love this place and have enjoyed their time a lot. The director, Ms. Brianna, is very attentive to all matters. All of the teachers are very sweet towards the kids. Especially, Ms. Sonia and Ms. Paola(Pea) have been very kind to take care of our kid especially with potty training. I am sadly disappointed that my child was drop from this school. If your child has a disability like mine which was a Brachial Plexus injury (look it up please), the Owner and the NEW staff members did not care to learn how to treat my daughter's disability which was to wrap her arm brace properly. My daughter was going to this school for 4 months nd loved this school and built a lot of friends and in the very beginning it was a hard trying to get the staff to take her injury seriously and learn how to treat her arm and wrap her brace. I've sent videos on how to wrap her brace properly and how to put her coat on. After a while I did build a relationship with them and some staff did learn how to do it properly. But the owner himself made it clear that my daughter is not a fit for this school due to her disability ( which was an arm nerve injury that happened at birth). I was extremely sad. That goes to say if u have a child that has a physical disability (injury). I would not recommend this school. Before i got my daughter enrolled Maritsa the front desk coordinator told me that it would be fine and they accept kids with a disability, i was 100% very clear on my daughter injury before i even enrolled her. i honestly feel that this school needs to have some staff who have degrees in occupation therapy or assistance. It will be very helpful and rewarding to have a preschool staff who are educated not only into one type of child but all children and my daughter is just 4. The only staff i know of who have been really helpful in the situation is Brianna and Sonia and Braelyns old staff before they left Jenna and Danielle. Besides that i am extremely disappointed how the Owner spoke about my child and especially tried to look at my child like she isn't like any other child. Trying to tell me as a parent my daughter needs to be in one on one day care which was rude! U don't have the authorization to tell me what my daughter needs to be in. She is as normal as any other child certainly things just may be a bit difficult for her. Very disappointing! & any response yall have from this is unacceptable. When your kids go in sad, saying "I don't like this school" and come out sad there has to be something wrong. The kids mentioned a couple incidents but nothing was ever pin pointed. The biggest complaint I have with this center is that they would take money for tuition on random days and you had no way of stopping it. The tuition was to be collected on the 1st and the 15th. Simple right? Well, we were there over the summer starting in June they took money on May 31st, June 15th & June 27th and then in July they took money on 15th and 28th with no warning and no control of saying to stop. The agreement I signed was to be only pulled on 1st and 15th. When I brought it to their attention they said "not sure why it happened" I know exactly why it happened. They dated the invoice and pulled the funds for those dates cause I had no control on the draft. On the last day we were there we asked for our son's EpiPen and it took them over 10 minutes to find it, glad this was not an emergency. They closed the classroom down for a covid out break for 10 days (The CDC was not even recommending the 10 day closure at that time) so they just came up with this plan on their own. When asked if there would be a discount they simply ignored the question. They then had another breakout and instead of closing they only opened the classroom from 8-2:30, with FULL payment still required. I get Covid sucks and things are hard but I feel like the burden was all on the parents and the hit was not shared with the daycare, they still got what they needed, our money. With their total lack of detail and obligation to do the right thing in many areas, I can't encourage anyone to go here, my kids happiness and sometimes safety was in question and the lack of responsibility to billing and charging the parent's correctly, makes me second guess who I was leaving my kids with on a daily. read more

Great local daycare. We started recently and switched from an in-home daycare to Abacus. I'm amazed by how much my children have learned since the switch. My 3 year old comes home telling me about all the fun stuff he did throughout the day, and my little has started speaking more and more. Also love that they serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks. We moved to the area at the beginning of the summer and we have really been pleased with Abacus. I met Brianna, the school's director, when I came to tour and she was very friendly and welcoming! The school is very clean and everyone was friendly. They were our number 1 choice of schools in the area. Since we've started, our girls have loved it! They have a great curriculum and our girls are learning everyday! They also have fun activities such as splash day and snow cone day. They play outside on the nice playground. The area is clean and they use turf so the girls don't come home dirty every day! Lastly, they keep us updated by using the app to share pictures and details throughout the day. We love Abacus! I have had both my kids enrolled there. My oldest, who started Abacus when she was 2 is now in Kindergarten. The teachers taught her so much that it seems she's ahead of the game in Kindergarten! I enrolled my youngest as a newborn and he is now in the toddler program. He's 2 and can already count to 30, knows his ABC, every nursery rhyme song I can think of, and is starting to learn how to spell his name!! My kids love going there. My daughter, who is no longer enrolled, misses it. She especially misses her favorite teacher, Miss Tiffany! Abacus has an app where they can send you alerts, reminders, and pictures of your kids having fun throughout the day. They offer healthy food program, but also give you the option to bring your own food should you not want theirs. They are super strict when it comes to the health of your kids. They will not let a child come back to school until your child has been fever free for more than 24 hours. If they suspect a child is sick they immediately take the temperature and call the parents. Of course its frustrating at times, as both my husband and I work, however, I respect this policy and appreciate it because I know my kids will not come home on a weekly basis from another child getting them sick. In regards to the directors being rude like the other comments mentioned, Ive never had an issue. Any concerns or issues I've had, Ive always approached Mrs. Tasleem or Mrs. Brittany, and have always gotten the issue taken care of in a professional, timely manner. I highly recommend them, and encourage you to read the not recommended reviews. It seems like all the positive reviews are getting put in there, while the old negative ones are staying up top. My daughter has attended Abacus for two and half years. The staff and director have been nothing but support and caring towards my family and daughter. My daughter has learned more than I could have imagined while attending Abacus! Her Pre-K teacher is a rock star and truly cares about each and every child that goes through there. My oldest son entered his 4th week of public Kindergarten this week and his teacher has been so impressed with how well-prepared he was! He is well ahead of many kids in his class, in reading, writing, math, etc. I also have to mention that not only does Abacus prepare the kids with all the fundamentals of a good education, the wonderful teachers (Hi Miss Tiffany!) also work on social and environmental development- teaching the kids to respect one another and public spaces and property, basics like tying their shoes, thorough handwashing, etc- things that carry over to every aspect of life are instilled in the kids for which I am so grateful. I recommend Abacus whenever I have the chance, for a school that is so much more than a daycare. My youngest son still attends and he is right behind my oldest to be on track for a succesful entrance to public school next year as well :) read more

I am updating this review due to being contacted via message and the reply to this post. I find the reply to my review quite humorous. The fact that there is a denial of me even calling or that I am a relative of another daycare. Really?! How about apologizing for the rudeness shown over the telephone. The lack of responsibility taken for the actions in ALL negative reviews shows a lot about the person who is responsible for the Abacus Childrens Academy yelp account and from what I understand it is the owner of the daycare. I would NEVER put my children here. The lack of mature behavior shown here is really mind blowing and this is not something I would want my young and very impressionable children shown. I was appalled at the service that was given to a potential customer back then and still am now. Never have I dealt with someone so unprofessional. Truly disappointed in the experience and from that alone I make the conclusion that I would NEVER put a child at this facility. If that type of unprofessionalism is shown on the phone to an adult I can only imagine what goes on when parents are not around. I started off really liking this school. My kids' teachers were really nice. However, after a few months, I began to realize that the director of the school is not a nice lady. I found her condescending & inflexible. They also seemed to use any little reason to keep the kids from playing outside. But the final straw for me was when the director not only popped my son on the cheek with a pencil for scribbling on his work but then, after admitting it to me, tried to lie to my husband about it saying that she only hit him on the hand. All of these one star reviews seem extremely petty and read like they're from the same person.. My son has attended Abacus for the past 6 months without any issues. The Director and her family are very kind and respectful to me every time I pick up/drop off my son. I would recommend Abacus to anyone in the area. It's reasonably priced and clean and only 5 minutes from home which is perfect for me. I can't imagine what experiences led to some of these negative reviews but I can definitely say that I have never encountered these issues. I'm only glad I didn't see some of these reviews before I enrolled my child here. None of the other parents I have met have had any of these negative experiences. read more

We are so very happy with our choice in schools! After having our son in various chain daycares, it is such a warming feeling to have our son cared for by a private, family run establishment. Our son is ALWAYS clean and happy and always has something to bring home to show how hard he has worked, and he's only 2! Ms. Shannon is wonderful and works hard to provide excellent care and keeps the kiddos entertained and involved in activities. They pay attention to detail, and when I ask how his day was it is never the standard "oh he had a great day!" but instead a detailed account of how he was, what he did, and what's to come. The teachers, and owner' are amazing and both wife and husband alike care about the children and parents. Newsletters that are sent each month are fun and engaging and give straightforward and honest account of staffing or changes to the school. As a Pre-k teacher myself, honesty is appreciated and gives a true sense of security and faith in the school. This is the MOST ridiculous answer I have ever read! I never had problems paying! I always paid before the due day. I did talk to the owner about the teacher pinching my kid and she said she would never allow this kind of thing inside her school that was probably my kid who made it up. My school went 3 days a week. We were one of the first ones to get there!!! So that's why I took my kid out of your school. My other son went to private school too and I never had any problems with them. He loved the other school and I choose to pay more at another school than cheaper at yours! My son was never behind on his curriculum. He is a very smart boy. Don't blame me and my family for your bad management!!!! read more

I could have written the 3/09/12 review. My child attended Abacus for a little less than a year, beginning when it was called Noah's Ark Christian Pre School. The current owners/directors had just recently bought it and later changed the name to its current Abacus Children's Academy. At the first meeting I was comfortable with the director, we toured the school and it was quite clean. She explained the school was ran and owned by her and her husband. He was the co director.And though the toys and equipment are a bit on the dated side, they are in good shape, clean and safe. We were told of there curriculum, and we were told once our child settled in, like 2 months the director suggested , we'd have a conference to finalize a curriculum designed just for my child. Neither of these things ever happened. The director is extremely cold, often bordering on rude. She does block you from interacting with the staff (even her husband co-director) and talks over them. On the very first day my child started there was an innocent mix up on pick up times. Even though I had an email from her,that proved I had been correct she refused to apologize she still acted like I was in the wrong. She does not subscribe to the customer is always right philosophy! I never felt comfortable with her after this. Another action of hers that didn't sit well with me started after I had given them the proper notice we were pulling our child out. After they knew this,every time I came to pick up my kid,I found her sitting with her back against a wall,holding her lunchbox waiting for me. Not even a book to look at. I had to wonder how long had she been sitting there waiting. Gone were the days when she was helping a teacher or sitting at a table reading when I arrived. This lead up to the final incident that caused me to pull my daughter a week and a half early. The last day when i arrived at pick up time, my child wasnt sitting in her usual spot and no one was around. I walked back to her classroom as soon as i came to the windows that looked into the classroom i saw my child sitting what appeared to be alone in a dark room. I did not see anyone else in there with her but i didnt have full veiw of the room so it is possiable she wasnt alone. But it was completely dark and she again was just sitting there holding her lunchbox. At this point the director heard me and rushed ahead of me blocking me from entering the room and calling for my child to come out into the hallway instead. Her reaction was odd and made me extremely uncomfortable. We never returned to clean out our cubby. Now her husband and co director, on the other hand is great. Very friendly and he seemed to have a good rapport with the kids. I never had any problems with him and found pick up was always better if he was there instead of her. This could be a decent daycare, but from what our family has experienced this isn't much of a Pre school program. Turn over rate is high even for day care work. Contact with your kids teacher is limited and controlled by the director, we were not even offered an email address or any way to contact the teacher with questions. This daycare does the bare minimum. It's clean and safe, staff is competent. But don't expect your child to bring home lots of crafts or worksheets. After a few months we stopped receiving the daily sheet, that gave us details about our little ones day. No explanation they just stopped. If my daughter had a runny nose I could NOT expect them to wipe it. At pick up she would have a snotty, green crusty nose. Also potty training was very unpleasant with Abacus.They insisted on pull ups well beyond when they were needed and the director made big deals out of minor pee accidents. She seemed almost flummoxed that 2.5 year olds in the midst of potty training had accidents. My daughter hold had less than 5 minor accidents the entire time she attended and sometimes the director was almost hostile when she informed me of them. I would reccomend Abacus for infants or young toddlers. The baby teacher is a sweetheart and the staff they do retain aren't bad. It's clean, well maintained and security is very good. I would not reccomend it as a preschool or Pre k for all the reasons stated above this long review. And especially because the promised curriculum doesn't seem to be followed. While part of Abacus I always felt we just weren't getting our money's worth and now that we're attending a real Pre K program I realize just how far behind Abacus Children's Academy is from what a Pre K program is supposed to be. read more

I was highly disappointed with this preschool. I thought it was a great place at first, but as time went on I was proved wrong. The director was extremely rude and didn't seem to have the children's needs at her best interest. The teachers seemed nice but the director didnt let the teachers socialize with the parents too much. Every time I would come to pick up my child and ask the teacher a question, if the director was present she would interrupt and wouldn't let the teacher talk. The worst day care system I have ever come across. The owners do not know how to treat people with respect. They claim they are the best day care since sliced bread. I am quoting the owner (Tasleem) "Were not Tree House kids" day care." Were better than them. Your kids will not be any smarter if you take them to abacus. The food they give their kids is horrible not up to par with health standards. Parents I urge you if you take your kid here to meet Tasleem the owner. Wow, where to start? Apart from the gross misuse of the english language in that reply (pain "stakenly") or (Sounds like you have horribly nothing better to do), there are some real troubling statements in that reply. Yes, as a genuine parent, I don't have anything BETTER or MORE IMPORTANT to do than question the Preschool and the Director. That is my JOB as a parent. If this makes me a horrible, unhappy person, then so be it. Yelp is here for that exact purpose, a place for people to share their opinions and experiences with others. If you take a moment to read all of your reviews (including the 7 filtered ones) you may find that I am not the only parent to take issue with the Director. To me, that is not a coincidence. As for the preschool providing a "service" like all other schools in Texas; Gosh, I hope you can learn to provide more than just a service, I would want to know I am taking my child to people who CARE as well as offer an educational service. My advice to you would be to try and learn some social skills and be more positive, it comes in handy when you are dealing with parents and children, especially. I could go into great detail and really tell these folks our WHOLE experience at Abacus but I am going to give you the benefit of my good charity because we both know that you failed miserably in upholding that "service" you speak so highly of.
