I bounced between three and four stars for this review before settling on three stars. I'll explain in a minute. This isn't a perfect festival but the fact that there is a festival celebrating The Beatles close every year is a great thing. I was amazed at how nice all the festival-goers were and how the age range varied... anything from age 10 to age 70. I had a good time at this festival. I'll list off some of the bad things and then add some of the great things about this festival. Tickets are cheap enough but I'm not sure if there would ever be a reason to attend all 5 days. One of the issues that kept coming up is hearing the same song multiple times. With somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 songs, there are plenty of Beatles songs to choose from. I heard one song 4 different times. I heard a few other songs 3 times. On top of that, it's interesting that certain bands make the decision to cover other songs from the 60s and 70s that aren't The Beatles. I can deal with bands playing non-Beatles songs but I think there could be some type of coordination so that you don't hear the same song multiple times on the same day. I can only imagine how many times you'd hear some songs if you were there all weekend. One other issue would be the stages. There are 6 or 7 stages that range in size. The number of stages isn't a bad thing but the proximity to other stages is a bit of an issue. You regularly hear another stage doing a soundcheck while watching another band. Sometimes the other stages are louder than the stage you're at. That's a musical nightmare that isn't acceptable in my opinion. On to the good things. - The tickets are cheap enough if you want to check it out for a day and see what it's all about. - There are plenty of food trucks so you don't have to settle for the usual festival food that you find at music festivals. Special shoutout to All Thai'd Up for keeping me refreshed with boba tea. - There are plenty of restrooms. It's rare to wait in line here. - People of all ages enjoying the music. - You can bring in a chair. - You won't encounter the drunk bros here that you'd normally find at larger festivals. - There are tents to buy Beatles merchandise. Some of that stuff, I've never seen available anywhere so that's cool. - Everyone there is nice. From the people in the band walking around to all of the festival goers... everyone is there having a good time. - There were a few of the bands that were definite highlights. Each band also seemed to have one guitarist. Not just some weirdo playing the guitar but a full-fledged guitarist that was of rock god status. - Parking is a cake walk. If you're new to this festival, I'd suggest going only one or two days the first year you attend. If you like the atmosphere, attend all of the days. If not, then you don't have to go all 5 days and you can save some money.

We had not been to Abbey Road on the River since it was held at the Belvedere in Louisville years ago. So I wanted to see the venue in Jeffersonville. We parked at the Louisville waterfront and walked the Big Four Bridge to avoid the traffic in Jeff. We also did not have tickets, so just checking out the venue. The walk across the bridge only takes 10-15 minutes and if we would ever go that is where we could park and carry our chairs over from the Louisville side. Once you get to the Jeffersonville side of the bridge they do not want you to stand on the bridge (as indicated by signage) but no one enforcing it. So we were able to watch the crowd and hear the music from that angle for a bit before we ventured off the bridge. The entire green area on both sides of the base of the bridge is fenced off and all of the stages, food vendors, etc were within that fencing. We were again able to walk around that permiter and see and hear music and the crowd. It is actually a pretty cool set up. We may go in the future.

Very nice summer music festival. Terribly hot outside and not much for relief. The food was good, too. Even had some vegan offering here and there. Affordable and fun.

We walked the bridge over to the fest but only watched from outside. We saw 4 stages and was surprised of the small crowd. Music was nice but nothing I'd write home about. I don't think I'd pay for ticket in the future because of this preview. I know it's a well produced and sponsored event but...I'll pass.

Tough to beat. The music is hit or miss. But really, does it matter? Do you REALLY care? It's an excuse to get out, go downtown, sip some brews, soak up some Vitamin D, chow on some terrible/great food, and listen to some recognizable tunes. Don't like what's going on at this stage? Go to the next one. Don't like that one? Go to the next one. And so on. Too cool.

I will self-disclose that I'm not and never have been very into The Beatles. I've listened to their music, respected the artistry, and know a handful of songs. I do not, however, listen to them religiously. The set up is nice, the vendors are neat, and the multiple stages help break everything up. The park is real spacious and I dig the location being right next to the big four bridge - for walking purposes. I'm not sure what I expected or what I was supposed to expect but it was a pretty underwhelming event. A cool place to go and hang out over Memorial Day weekend if the weather is nice and you want to listen to a live band, but I don't see it as something I'd attend on a yearly basis. I wouldn't pay entry at least because a lot of the music can be heard right on or next to the bridge! Aside from that, prime location in regards to proximity to different bars and restaurants! Got a chance to check out some really cool spots and truly enjoy the bridge + the weather! Shout out to Yelp for having the raffle and me being able to attend this neat little event.

Even if you don't know any Beatles cover bands or Beatles songs you can still appreciate their legacy by attending Abbey Road on The River festival. This is a nice way to spend memorial weekend if you got nothing already planned. The bands are very professional and know how to have fun. I expect crowd to increase, but it's still a great festival. You have a lot of food and drink options, and interesting new booths. You can also take part in the raffles that are offered such as the Crosley turntable offered this year. There are many cool items for sale in booths, John Lennon glasses, t shirts, pins, necklaces, picks, and much more to get your Beatles spirit on. The stages have reserved seating up front but you can pretty much sit around anywhere and enjoy the show. I'd like to come back to abbey road on the river for sure.

In my hour of darkness, you are standing right in front of me... no darkness today! It's beautiful day in Indiana (and those are rare!) to get back to some Beatles classics. Having it at Big 4 Park in Jeffersonville was a great idea. I feel like this is what this park was built for. And 4 stages; so if you're not hearing a song you recognize at one stage... just walk over to another one!

The parade starts towards the evening and is really cute to watch. There are decorated cars, people dressed up in crazy costumes and local businesses handing out candy and coupons. It lasted around 40ish minutes and was fun to watch. The rest of the festival was only a tiny chunk of Bardstown Rd., which surprised me. It was about a 15 minute walk from where we were during the parade to get there. There were multiple tents set up with local vendors and cool stuff to check out, along with a stage for live music. This is a great family event during the fall, and a lot come dressed up, so don't forget your costume! The event lasts for a majority of the day, but I would recommend waiting until later to come, so you can catch the parade too.

We parked behind Mid City mall that surprisingly still had some spots left to park. We walked basically the whole route of where the parade was taking place, and just basically hanging out until it started. We got too see some pretty cool costumes from both adults and kids alike. We got to snag a spot on the porch of Holy Grale, I'd say we probably got the best seat in the house lol. We were impressed with majority of the floats as you can see from my pictures. Picking just one float as a favorite is a difficult decision as they were all good. I'd say for a first year, I was very impressed the setup of this event as well my friends were. Very well organized. We plan on returning next year.

On my to-do list for next year: Go to the Boomtown Ball and Festival…read more And just as important: Get there early enough to enjoy the booths. I arrived at about 8 p.m. -- an hour before the headliner was set to take the stage. The sun was still out. But except for a handful of booths, everything else was already closed and torn down. And I had seen so many great shots on social media of makers and local shops that had set up at what is becoming a landmark fest for New Albany. I wish I could have made shopping a part of my Boomtown adventure. Some of the reasons the shopping hours should be extended: * Like I said, it was still sunny. No problems seeing the merch. * This event is only one day (so far). Asking vendors to stay open until the last concert shouldn't be too hard. * The in-between time, leading up to the last band, is a time when a large amount of guests are looking for a diversion -- a win for shopping. But Boomtown is definitely about more than shopping. And from what I saw, it excels in other areas: * The music was fantastic. From what I was told, local band Houndmouth and WFPK worked together to bring in the acts. * The final band was on time, which you don't see a lot. * Because this festival is still gaining steam, we were able to 1) find parking less than a block away and 2) get super close to the stage without having to push our way through a massive crowd. * This is such a great opportunity to explore beautiful downtown New Albany. * The police were so friendly! I'm looking forward to next year and spending all day in New Albany.

The Louisville area is known for hosting quite a few popular events. Derby events such as thunder…read moreover Louisville, the oaks and the historic Kentucky derby itself. They host big annual concerts such as forecastle and louder than life. However Louisville spookiest and most creative annual event takes place every August in the highlands on the corner of Bardstown road and eastern parkway. It's is known as the Louisville Zombie attack or as locals call it the "zombie walk". This is a free event where people go all out and dress as zombies and other cool creative costumes and they roam around the popular highlands area that is filled with restaurants and bars. They have vendors setup in the street and usually live music and entertainment. The event is well secured and patrolled by local Lmpd and have barricades/port o pots and things setup to contain the big living dead bash. Even zombies neee barriers and potty breaks! This is kid friendly. While it can be spooky for some kids (it is a zombie walk) the people out for frights usually don't mess with the little ones and are more then willing to stop for photo ops With the little ones. If your child scares easy then I would skip it. However, I'd say it's main audience is adults. It's usually on a Friday or Saturday night and highlands is a popular bar area so there is lots of drinking and dancing activities around including in the live music and beer tent area. The whole walk back and forth maybe takes an hour or so and they do shut it down after certain times. We usually just get dressed up find a place to street park and circle around a few times and take in the sites and fun . The bars and restaurants are open but we usually skip eating because the crowds are so large. From my understanding this started as a flash mob in 2005. And slowly became what it is today. I think we've been to this annual late August event 3-4 times and we have loved it every year we have attended. It's the event we look forward to the most annually. With it being in late August it puts you in the spooktacular mood for Halloween coming up right around the corner. Lots of fun and highly recommend checking out if you enjoy Halloween or spooky type things.

Gotta say -- not too impressed with the latest iteration of the annual Louisville Zombie Attack…read more This used to be one of my favorite weird Louisville traditions (as you can see from my previous review). But it was recently taken over by another business and permanently moved to a Saturday, rather than annually on Aug. 29. And with it being on a Saturday, it seemed so much bigger than in years past and with that came more drunkenness and rowdiness. Holding the event on weekdays may have kept some of that back. As odd as it may sound, the Louisville Zombie Attack was much more well behaved in the past. There were many more kids and teenagers, and while there was drinking, the undead masses were out in the best spirits and seemed excited to be a part of a great event that was welcoming to everybody. This year, though, people were making out and over indulging, even with scores of kids around them. It reminded me more of the worst of the St. Patrick's Day festivities. I and my husband got pushed off of the sidewalk into the street by people who were drunk and oblivious. We saw a few people come up right next to the kids we were standing by, smoking. And while I hate -- HATE -- smoking, I hate it even more that these people were so inebriated that they were waving around their cigarettes, coming way too close to burning the kids. It was hard to see through all of this if the parade was managed properly; perhaps it was. But my hope is that the zombie attack becomes more about, well, the zombies and a great time overall for all, rather than just a drunken mess.
