Abbey's Lantern is a wonderful find on the back roads between the two casinos, Mystic and Groton. This is the second year in a row I have been here and it is just a great place! We stayed in the Country Room at the Inn. A great space that makes you feel like you are on your own and away from the stress of the world! Erika is a fabulous host. She is very accommodating and always willing to help of offer suggestions. Although we did not have breakfast this trip because of our schedule, she is an amazing cook! Abbey's lantern hill was beautiful and relaxing. We rented The Cottage for four days with our lovely Maxwell who enjoyed the stay as well. It was relaxing and a perfect location to explore Mystic and Newport, RI. Peter and Erika are great and the breakfast was very good. We will be back if we are in Mystic. One recommendation is to please add screens to the windows and patio. Maxwell is an escape artist and almost went out of the bathroom window. The sliding screen was not secured enough to keep him from getting out. We caught him on time. read more

What a relief from the insanity that is Foxwood Casino. We originally were supposed to room with some friends in two suites there, but after some thought, we decided we did want to get some sleep and stay in our own room instead. However, foxwood was sold out. So we looked around and on a whim found this magical little place. In visiting our friend's suite, it is clear we made the right choice. In contrast, our cozy little room was so relaxing, well decorated, and had a fireplace and jacuzzi bathtub. We got a home made breakfast the next morning, and the entire vibe of the place feels like staying at a family friend's house. If we planned on coming to this area often, I probably wouldn't review this since I would want it to stay a secret. This is a wonderful place to stay. 5-Stars all the way! The innkeeper, Erika, is professional and very efficient and she did an excellent job of making us feel welcomed. The rooms are as pictured, well furnished, with plenty of the essentials. We stayed in the Downeast room, which was well appointed with cherry-smoked firewood for the fireplace, a large private porch with table and seating for 6 and a skylight that has a retractable shade. The common areas are clean and well maintained. A cozy breakfast area is ready to go, for a must have, the complimentary home-cooked organic breakfast from 8-10am. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the common dining area or in your room. Complimentary beverages, such as soda, coffee and tea are stocked and neatly arranged in the main area for the enjoyment of their guests. The bathroom is well stocked and the water pressure is excellent. We never ran out of hot water either, which happens often in some smaller establishments. We didn't go, but Foxwoods Casino is practically walking distance from the Inn. Probably a plus for many people. We will absolutely be back!! We are looking forward to seeing the grounds in later spring. It is obvious that the landscaping is well maintained and thoughtfully designed. Overall, the very loved and calming atmosphere at "ALHI" is an absolute destination for a romantic getaway or if you just need a quiet place to get away from the hustle and bustle. read more

Every detail of our room at Abbey's was perfection! My partner and I stayed in the Southwest room for a long weekend and it was as cozy and lovely as we hoped. The room smelled like wood when you walked in, and the decor was wonderful, with relaxing candles and lavender amenities. The fireplace and bathtub got a lot of use, as we visited in chilly February. We did not use the patio this time of year, but even so, the hanging bulbs outside looked beautiful. The service at Abbey's was wonderful and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was so fresh and delicious that I was excited to go to sleep each night so I could wake up for our morning meal! You can tell how much Erika and Peter care about their guests, with extra touches here and there. Though we were visiting during COVID, we always felt very comfortable and we could tell that very careful safety measures were taken. The response from the staff when I needed to cancel because of a family member having come down with Covid was rude. Told me I needed to go through Hotels.Com, they refused to answer them for THREE DAYS! I NEVER GOT TO CANCEL, BUT THEY HAPPILY KEPT MY MONEY! HORRIBLE. Such a cute; serene and spotless inn. Hosts are warm and friendly. We were greeted in a spa like way that instantly relaxed us after a long drive. Our room was adorable and so comfy. Breakfast was fantastic. There was even an evening snack left out for guests! So yummy. Location was perfect. 5 minutes to Foxwoods, 20 minutes to Mystic and about an hour to Yale. Extra bonus- Animal friendly and cruelty free product used! Dairy free options for coffee and breakfast too! We highly recommend for everyone... Well at least those who want tranquility. Perfect for a weekend getaway. Quiet, clean, and Erika and Peter were wonderful hosts. My husband and I went here for our honeymoon and we could not have made a better choice. Just stayed in the Southwest room, loved it. The decor of the room is great and I love the whirlpool tub and fireplace. Soft comforter, nice towels. Erika is very nice and helpful. It is nice to see an owner show such an interest in their business and really wanting everyone to be happy there. I love the eco friendly vibe here with the food and even the shampoo. The location is good, just out of the way to be quiet but very close to Mystic and the casinos. This would be a nice place to be in the summer with the seating area outside and the deck. We recently had a fabulous time at Abbey's Lantern Hill Inn. We took our two puppies and stayed in the immaculate and charming cottage (Chateau Eve). The cottage had a fenced backyard for the puppies (which they loved) and a side-deck with party lights and a bistro table. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had a television and a couch and refrigerator and a good-sized bathroom. The service was excellent. Erika greeted us with a big smile and offered us champagne glasses when she showed us our room. She prepared fantastic and healthy breakfasts (organic eggs, milk, plantains, and turkey bacon). Additionally, her knowledge of the local area provided us with four great ideas for hikes and nature walks with the dogs. Although the Inn is very close to Foxwoods (literally around the corner) it has a charming wooded setting (we saw deer in the backyard). We can't speak highly enough of this charming, lovely Bed and Breakfast. Perfect for: romantic getaways, children, and pets. read more

Abbey's Lantern Hill In is simply lovely and relaxing...as a B&B should be. Me and my bf stayed in the Cottage which is detached from the main house and had a wonderful stay. Due to horrendous (holiday) traffic we were almost 3 hours late and our lovely host Erica was so gracious when we arrived. She even loaned us an ipad since the cable wasn't working. The Cottage is sweet, the decor is nautical (lots of blues, plaids, whites). There is a private enclosed patio which we didn't really use since the weather was cold. Each morning we walked over to the kitchen for light breakfast fare (cereal, fruit, snack bars) and yummy coffee! We needed a relaxing, romantic, enjoyable weekend away from NYC and this place was perfect for it! Plus the prices are so reasonable. Amazing, Relaxing, Beautiful B&B!! A day after my husband and I got married a few weekends ago, we decided to take a "puppymoon," since our dog had to be boarded at daycare for the night for our wedding on Saturday night and since I'm starting law school in a week, we decided to wait until December to go on our full honeymoon. I researched dog-friendly bed and breakfasts and hotels in dog-friendly areas and Mystic kept coming up (I'd been there on a school trip as a kid to the seaport). Both Mystic itself and Abbey's Lantern Hill Inn looked SO dog-friendly and I couldn't get over how cute and quaint Abbey's looked! I booked it ASAP and let me tell you - it did NOT disappoint!! Sometimes it's hard to tell how things will look from pictures but believe it or not the photos don't even do Abbey's justice for it's beauty and sweetness! We stayed in the Cottage (the only dog friendly room - although the other rooms looked gorgeous as well!) and everything was perfect! It was my first time at a B&B and let me tell you I will definitely be coming back to B&Bs in generally and CERTAINLY back to Abbey's!! Erika, the owner, is quite possibly the sweetest, most accommodating person you'll ever meet. She helped us with everything we needed with a big smile, showing us the special dog welcome treats, bowl and "bathroom bags." She took time to take us through maps of Mystic and Ledyard and to make recommendations for great food where puppies are allowed to join! We even got complimentary tickets to an attraction (we chose the Seaport) because of the off-nights we stayed (Monday - Wednesday). What an extra treat! Our pup had an amazing time - so did we! The bed was oh-so comfortable, I fell asleep immediately for a nap when we got there! The decor is gorgeous and the back patio (fenced in for puppies!) was great! And our dog LOVED going on walks around the grounds. The grounds are GORGEOUS!! I absolutely loved Abbey's! If you're looking for a place to go with your dog, or sans-pooch too (some rooms have jacuzzis!) for some beautiful sights, relaxing days, peaceful nights, and the most delicious coffee I've ever tasted (I'll have to ask Erika what it is), run don't walk to Abbey's! Just returned from our 4th stay at Abbey's Lantern Hill where we had a get relaxing couple of days and as always never disappointed. Abbey's is very clean and comfortable. Erika is a terrific Innkeeper who along with being very kind and caring goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. This was such an enjoyable, relaxing time and as always we felt right at home. This time we stayed in the Down East room which had a wood-burning fireplace and plenty of wood to keep the fire going as we enjoyed our wine and snacks. Unsure of the area or what to do, speak with Erika, she has great recommendations for the area! I read the reviews on TripAdvisor all the time and for those that write disappointing reviews and say Erika is not particularly friendly or welcoming, it is baffling as that is not Erika at all. She goes out of her way to ensure her guests are comfortable and that they are happy in their rooms. We have gone 4 times now and have stayed in a different room each time The Mystic, Southwest, Cadillac & Downeast. Each room was different but all offer you a private outside seating area to enjoy in the warmer weather. Some have the wood-burning fireplaces and some have a Jacuzzi. The Southwest offer both. For the rooms with the Jacuzzi's there has always been plenty of hot water to full the tubs. For the rooms with wood-burning fireplaces there is extra wood in the room's right by the fireplace. There is a nice cozy breakfast area that consists of 4 chairs and a table. There is also a nice comfy couch to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee while you wait for you made to order breakfast to be ready. Erika does a wonderful job of preparing a home-cooked breakfast for ALL her guest even with a full house. There is also fruit, a selection of hot and cold cereal, yogurt, juice and some kind of coffeecake or Danish. I highly recommend the French toast. We have been there when she has had a full house a few times and there has never been a problem with any of her guest being served breakfast. The common area is open to all her guest with tea, coffee, soda and snacks to enjoy. The refrigerator is re-stocked each day so there is always cold soda. The housekeeping staff is great and always have the rooms fully cleaned and towels refreshed with clean ones by 3p.m. So if you're looking for total peace & relaxation, you've found it here!! Erika is wonderful; I know you'll enjoy meeting her and staying at this wonderful Inn. My husband and I have stayed in many B&B's both within CT and else and Abbey's is top on our list. This in really was the most amazing place my husband and I have stayed. A few of our favorite things: 1) the owner is so sweet, kind, and obviously knows the art of hospitality since she has run the in for more than 20 years. 2) the room we booked was much larger than I expected with high ceilings and amazing windows looking out on to a patio and trees. 3) there was an amazing fire place ready to light up. 4) everything was romantic and quiet and perfectly simple. My wife and I stayed at the inn over NYE and it was a truly great experience. Erika (the owner and innkeeper) was very nice and extremely accommodating. Lots of closet space, huge bathroom and a private balcony where u can lay and watch the stars at night....I was lucky to spot my 1st shooting star. Amazing place to stay and recharge the batteries. I spent Thanksgiving weekend here and Erica, the host did not disappoint. She thought of everything, the coffee, the tea, the soft towels, delicious smelling shampoos and soaps, robes, starter log for the rooms with the fireplaces, wood for the fire pit, Lysol wipes and hand sanitizer plus a spotless grill. The beds are comfy with good hot water pressure in the bathrooms. Board games are available too as well as brochures on the various hikes. One trail directly behind the house! We had a great stay at Abbey's! It was the perfect distance from Long Island for a short weekend getaway. The best way I could describe Abbey's is a secluded getaway, near so much stuff! Abbey's is set on a big property surrounded by nature. We always heard birds chirping! It was very relaxing for us. Foxwoods is a short 5 minute drive away and there's so much to do there. Mystic is also a short 20 minute drive away. The homemade breakfast was delicious. The room was beautiful (we stayed in the Downeast room). Pillows and bed were so comfortable. They decorated the room wonderfully. Water pressure/temperature of the water were perfect! We plan on coming back in the winter since the room had a private fireplace, it'll be so cozy! I think this place would be perfect for couples looking to get away for the weekend of even a group of friends since there's 6 rooms to chose from. The outdoor patio/hammock area is a good spot to hangout as well. We met with the owners briefly but they were helpful like when we called for a wine opener. Rooms are pretty and nice but if there is any commotion at all in the building you will hear everything or if a guest staying at the same time as you happens to bring a dog that barks alot, that could cause an issue. I believe they allow pets in the outside carriage house that they rent out. The staff is super friendly and a plethora of valid information on what local sites to go visit. pro's/cons depending on how you view things: It is very close to foxwoods and that is a bonus yet somehow still far enough away to feel like you are in the country. Dont expect any room service, however beds were made very tidy during our day excursions. The theme here is very eco friendly. If you like kashi healthy foods and turkey bacon you will be thrilled. If you cater more towards a junk eating lifestyle like myself you prob will be a bit turned off. I went looking for a microwave in the kitchen to heat up some pizza and that was no where to be found. Bang for the buck its a really good deal. Was only about $150 a night or so, i cant complain at all. I will pretty more than likely be back again but im gonna pack a bunch of my own foods. read more

I was so very disappointed. I was expecting a kind, warm welcome and what my husband and I received was a young woman (Erika) with an ax to grind. She was the owner and honestly, with her personality, she should not be running a B&B. Check in is at 3 p.m. We arrived, after a 22 hour trip, at 2:25 p.m. and was turned away. She said we could wait on the back lawn. My husband asked if there was a bathroom he could use and all he got was "no" in response. My husband will be writing a more detailed review but the owner should get a job at the Motel 6 and leave the hospitality to someone that knows the business. I discovered Abbey's after googling "hotels near Foxwoods" and it came up through an about.com portal. What a great discovery I made, this place was fantastic. You could literally walk to Foxwoods in under 5 minutes from this Bed & Breakfast. There are several different rooms here I believe most are in the main building with a few others completely separate, our room was in the main building but I felt there was plenty of privacy. We stayed in the Downeast room which had a shared deck and your own personal fireplace and private bathroom and shower, very nice. The place was clean and comfortable as well. The prices here are very reasonable ($140 with taxes for our room) and another big appeal to this place is that Foxwoods had been sold out for the Saturday night we were looking at and they still had rooms available the Thursday before. Another great little bonus was the breakfast the manager/owner made in the morning, she gave us the option of eggs or french toast (or both) with turkey bacon and a large selection of pastries. We both went for the french toast which she made with a fresh baguette, the bacon was great too. She even has an organic garden in the backyard! I highly recommend this B&B is you're in the Foxwoods area. read more

The inn is also so close to local attractions. Foxwoods Casino just 1 mile away. Mystic Seaport is just 6 miles and Mohegan Sun 8 miles, so plenty to do. The manager is a control freak she was texting me before we checked in and wanting to know specifically when we would be there. I didn't get the text as I was using my phone to navigate. When we showed up she freaked out because she didn't have the room ready. The bed is uncomfortable. It was like sleeping in quicksand when one partner moved the other is through practically out of bed. The room is not up to code. there is no lock on the sliding glass door. If you are a couple that usually doesn't shut the bathroom door you will now because The toilet is a raised throne right in front of the bed. We left didn't stay for breakfast at which point she began texting and telephone stocking me for the next half an hour. Stay away. read more

Absolutely perfect! The location could not be any better. Just a couple minutes away from a huge casino and yet Abbeys is in a rural, quiet, scenic location. It took us about 6 minutes to drive into the heart of mystic. Aside from the location, Erica was just great! She recommend an awesome restaurant for me and my boyfriend to have dinner. She also told us a scenic road to drive down into mystic. We chose the Cadillac suite and It was perfect. It was on a separate floor, had a separate patio, amazing bathtub, and super comfy bed! The only reason for one star is that I have to leave 1. This place looked so sweet and inviting and I booked a night there for my husband and I. After my grandfather passed unexpectedly I called to cancel or get credit for another time. After leaving a message and not being called back I called again the next day. The woman told me because it was not 7 days in advance I could not cancel and could only take a credit for a weeknight. After paying $200 for a Fri night I was not happy. I offered to send a death certificate and she said most people canceled for deaths so there was nothing she could do. This is infuriating and as a small business owner I think it is insensitive and disgusting. read more

This place was beautiful, clean and cozy but I remain underwhelmed. Let me start with the warning- there is NO BREAKFAST on weekdays. I was not made aware of this and to be honest, without it the $150 price tag seemed a bit unreasonable. If you are there on the weekend, I heard the food is delicious, but the whole thing rubbed me the wrong way. I couldn't help but feel that this detail should have been made clear upon booking a weeknight stay. THE GOOD: It's adorable, lots of grass and trees, lovely deck, complimentary soda and juice, and helpful restaurant tips from our hostess. I used to live in West Hartford and know the area well, and it is definitely a great place since it's close to everything in Mystic, and not too far from the beaches/casinos. We rented the cottage as we have a dog. The room was nice, however not if you don't like spiders. The ad stated fenced in backyard. Note the "yard" is a small patio with rocks, not grass. Your pup may have difficulty if they're used to grass. Also we pulled a dozen ticks off of our dog while on property. The fire pits are a nice touch but no other amenities. Very close to Foxwoods.
