So many things to love about this place, dog friendly, dock for our boat, quiet, screened in porch to relax watching the water and birds. Close enough to Riverhead for great food choices, a full kitchen if you choose to cook. Use to vacation in Montauk but most things close after Labor Day, once we found this place would never go back to Montauk, just LOVE the quiet and proximity to restaurants. Having welcoming owners, Sandy and John is just icing on the cake. Can't wait till next year. read more

My husband found this place while a Lighthouse Marine supplies and I am so happy that he did. We use to visit Montauk for a week, but since finding J & S Cottages will never drive that far again. This is about as perfect as vacation gets, dog friendly, cute cottages, a boat dock, and close to vineyards and great restaurants, what more could you ask for. Beautiful and serene property. Super friendly and welcoming owners, John and Sandy. They keep the property nice and clean. Each cottage is like a mini home with a backyard and they are well-kept lawns and gardens. Some of the cottages are by the waterfront and the others are welcome to sit by the water as well. Peaceful, quite, and welcoming. You don't have to go far to relax is what I learned this vacation. Sandy and John were very welcoming and as newcomers made us feel very comfortable. I highly recommend any cottage, the best part was having a balcony to come out on in the mornings to have some coffee and eat breakfast as well as lighting up some candles at night. Lovely place to stay on quiet stretch of eastern LI

Idyllic spot for rest and relaxation. Our cottage was wonderfully comfortable, very clean-all amenities you need included. Sandy and John could not make us feel more welcome. It was just as pictured and the cottages are cute and very comfortable. We picked it for it's location and because they accept our dog. The down side was that check in was not specific. We were told between 1:00 & 6:00 pm. We let her know we were arriving as near 1:00 as possible but arrived at 1:45. No one was around to check us in for almost 20 minutes. John walked up to our parked car, which had been circling looking for someone. We phoned while parked at an undesignated area only to be greeted by messages and full mail boxes. John was pleasant and helpful. We were finally able to reach his wife who insisted she was to check us in, via phone, and that the cottage still had to be cleaned and the maid was going to take 45 min. We agreed to come back an hour later. @3:30 pm. This was not a great beginning but we had a late lunch. My husband was very disappointed with the 19 inch TV but we loved the screened in porch with the few of the canal and Peconic Bay. We grilled and totally chilled. Not much to do with a dog though. There is plenty in the area. Outlets for shopping, Wineries, the Atlantic Aquarium, Splish - Splash water park, and beaches nearby. We stayed 2 nights but wished there was a pool or larger grounds to hike. It is very relaxing and at the end of our stay the owner was apologetic for the mix up. I think she should just say check in is at 3 pm. Check out was at 11:00 am and we were on time. Lovely people, cute cottage and nicely manicured property. We will not be returning; think we'll try a lake house Upstate next. read more
