Extremely Disappointed - Lack of Estimates & Overpriced Services I hired Abbotts Cleanup and Restoration for a minor water damage issue involving clean water - no drywall or carpet removal was needed. The only thing removed was carpet padding, and even that was cut so poorly that the undamaged sections now needs replacing. The final cost came to $11.67 per square foot with the cash pay discount, which is well above the national average of $4-$7 per square foot for similar clean water remediation work. When I asked why no updated estimate was provided during the job (especially since the initial deposit didn't cover it), the Abbotts employee was unapologetic and told me I was lucky they didn't charge more. He also confirmed that providing estimates during the course of work is not their standard practice. Yes, they show up and do the work--but at a high price and with very poor communication. If you're a homeowner dealing with a water emergency, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Transparency and fair pricing matter--Abbotts failed on both. read more

Terrible communication. Took two weeks to for them to call back and tell us their restoration plan after ripping up our carpet and trim due to a basement flood. This is a rental so every day cost us money. Also, prices are absurd compared to what they do for the actual work, clearly set up to take advantage of homeowners who are in difficult spots. They sent us a bid of almost $9000 to basically put trim back in place in 2 bedrooms. Our insurance company laughed at that and said they wouldn't even cover half of that amount for the work. I ended up finding someone myself who did if for $2000 including buying the trim. Despite telling this company that we were finished with them because of their insulting pricing, their telemarketers keep calling us telling us they can come down on the price of the work to only $1800 more than the insurance will pay. Please read carefully before considering Abbotts to repair your home after a fire. This is a condensed version as google limits the size. Please see my facebook review to get the full details I recently had a fire in my home that took down most of my garage and some of the walls going into the house on March 31st 2023. Abbotts had reached out shortly after and discussed my situation with Jon. Since then, I listed all the mistakes and issues I've had to deal with up to this point below. 1. I meet with Jon and Timothy to discuss the scope of work. I was told repairs should be done in 3-5 months initially. Working with insurance and no out of pocket expenses would occur. I was told all I needed to do for them to start work was to pay a deposit in the amount of 50% of the cleaning fee. I wrote them a check dated for mid April as my bank placed a hold on the funds when I attempted to deposit the check. I told Jon to hold off on depositing the check until that date. Immediately his team deposited it the same day. Which caused a few issues in my account. The funds got drafted then later returned due the date. Luckily if I had not written the date for a time in the future, those funds would have been pulled and I would have been over drafted. Seems as if their accounting department cannot read a date and anything you say to the messenger (Jon) gets lost and ignored. 2. Got my first bill for boardup in excess of $1,800. Insurance only approved $1,400 but they sent a bill anyway. I had to fight them to reduce the amount to the correct insurnace amount. 4. I was told one my checks which had both my wife and my name on it along with our banks name needed to be mailed. I spoke with Tanya in accounting. I was told i would receive an envelope to have the funds sent to my account and never did. 5. Finally we are approved to work on the contents cleaning. I was told this would take 3-5 days once started. It took nearly 3 weeks before they packed out all my salvageable items. After pack-out, I was waiting for communication and never got one. Called and was told they are not doing any work until I pay them for mitigation. I said I never received a envelope to cash the check so that I can pay them. Idecided to no longer work with Abbotts on the mitigation and repair. I limited their scope of work to just content cleaning. 6. I then asked Abbotts when they would have my property cleaned. They said they wont start cleaning until they got paid for the entire service which was more than the insurance estimate (again)!!! I had to go back and fourth stating I can only pay a deposit until I can verify the work was completed and I can personally verify all my cleaned content. 7. Now I head over to the office to make my payments. I had two kids so I didn't have much time to go through my email to find the one I sent them with exact amounts based on the insurance estimate. Because of this I made the mistake and took Timothy's word when I specifically asked him before paying "Are these numbers the same as the ones I emailed you" He lied to my face and said "Yes". In good faith I paid only to come home to my wife who said the checks I wrote are more than what I sent. I get on my laptop to review and sure enough its about 2k more than what we agreed. I called Jon to get Tim on this and was told the numbers are right. That means they are no longer using the insurance estimate but their own higher estimate. I asked for my 2k back and crickets. No one called me back. 8. So here I am. Its 3 am and I'm struggling to sleep. I'm 4 months in and angered at the entire situation looking to rant on google, yelp, everywhere I can on the terrible service I've gotten from Abbotts. I honestly don't know how they got a nearly 5 star rating with the amount of issues I've had. Be weary of this company. If you need proof email me. I logged everything via text and email and Ill send you proof. STAY AWAY. read more

I called and spoke with a person early one morning, sent pictures, per their request of the damage and they never called back. 2 days later, I called them and they said they had gotten the photos, but then I got put on hold for 20 minutes while they looked into it. When someone has this type of emergency, they NEED and WANT help. Is it this complicated to even call a potential customer back?? I had water in my basement. My insurance agent said he had good luck with Abbotts. So I called them. NEVER again! Very personable service people. BUT no one tells you what each little piece will cost. Simple comments like "we have to check for asbestos before we can remove this wet drywall" turn into $800 plus bills that aren't included in Abbotts bill but come later from the testing company. They calmly say "normal protocol is to leave these dryers/fans in place for 7 days". No one says but we'll charge you and exorbitant daily fee and add on extra hours for the trip to pick them up in a couple of days. I was naive. Just lost my husband and being in charge was new to me but I still feel they took advantage. I didn't ask questions. It was difficult to get the Project manager to return calls. And a final thought. They believed that either my insurance company or HOA would pay. There was a "discount" for paying myself given at the discretion of the project manager. Insurance agents, beware. They are taking advantage of you too. I battled with my HOA and Abbotts. If I ever have water again, I'll clean it up myself! read more

I was recently a victim of a flooded apt from an upstairs neighbor. Abbott was called and were so quick to respond, I was in disbelief. They took care of absolutely everything. Clean up, drying walls and floors, moving furniture, clean up and putting things back. Ricardo, Ronaldo and Anan were the best workers I've ever come across. Honest. Prompt. Excels, communicative. I contacted these people today to come do some disinfection on carpet in basement where we had a water leak, we found. Was told 500 dollar credit card deposit, be out today and scheduler would call. That was at 7:40 am today. I had to call them today at 4:00 pm and it took them a few minutes of me on hold to come back and say they would be here withing an hour and a hour and a half. Well here it it 2 hours later, and not a hide or hair or communication from them. I think I am going to go to Belfor or some other company, this in the dark shit does bode well with people who have limited time to get things done. As of this moment they have not held up their end of the agreement. However they can get their damn agreement out the door to you by email within a few minutes of talking with you. read more

I had a house fire and much of my master bedroom, bathroom and closet were badly damaged by fire, water and smoke. Brandon from Abbotts was the there the night of the fire boarding up the windows, and cleaning up again the next morning. He was so kind and compassionate when dealing with me, and gave me some really good advice. I decided to use them for the cleanup and remediation and I cannot say enough good things about their team. Ryan H, Dylan Q, Charles A and Andres M were all wonderful, kind, and good people. Dylan and Charles found my deceased cat. They then took it upon themselves to take her to a pet cremation place and EVEN PAID FOR HER CREMATION! The people that work for Abbotts, including Silvia, have all renewed my faith in humanity. Today 6/19/18 we experienced some freak hail flooding. My entire basement was full of water and I didn't know what to do. I called Abbott's and in less than 30 min someone was out here assessing the problem. He was so helpful, so nice and really compassionate. In less than an hour I had everything taken care of and ready for mitigation. I was told to expect the cleaners between 4-6pm. They arrived at 4:30. They took very good care of my stuff and did exactly what they needed to do. I honestly couldn't have asked for a easier or better situation given the circumstances. We had a wonderful experience with Abbotts and Juan's team. We had a significant flood in our home in Cherry Hills Village impacting all 3 levels of our home and Juan's team was AMAZING. They were professional, communicative, proactive and truly helped to advocate for our needs. Any time we needed a status update, Juan made himself available in person or by cell after hours. I have never worked with a group that has been so responsive and responsible. Considering the situation we were in, Abbotts made a huge difference. I was promised work to be finished while I was gone on a week long trip. I texted on the way from the airport to make sure everything was done and the workers were gone and was told that while most of the work was done the carpet (which was apparently out of their control) was not installed. When I got home I had damage to my walls and the work was not even near completed. I had to have workers out twice more and to finish. Then I was billed incorrectly twice when it was being covered by insurance. Jason blamed the workman, the workman blamed the company from restricting overtime. The billing department now seems to be inflating the bill to cover the extra time they had to spend to finish/fix the problems they created. Do not hire this company. read more

WOW! There just aren't words to describe just how crooked this Abbott's runs their business. Experienced a fire in my home April 2020, which was devastating enough. Then added insult to injury by making the huge mistake of hiring Abbott's as the restoration company. Nothing but problems from day 1. Finally after 9 months of nothing but scams, lies, and fraudulent billing, I fired Abbott's in December 2020. For four months now I've been waiting on files, documents, pictures, etc that have been promised multiple times to justify the charges on the bills. All the while being threatened, harassed, called names, and additional lies from various employees of Abbott's. Finally I was told by my insurance company that Abbott's had sent some files, only to be disappointed to find out the were simply more bills riddled with more fraudulent charges. They are attempting to charge for work that was never started, work that I had done myself, and equipment that was never used on my project. To top it all off, they requested that my insurance company submit payment directly to them without my approval. They won't be getting another cent from me until they take me to court. Travis, the owner, is really wonderful. At a time of lots of stress due to sewage water damage in our house he was a calm and soothing presence. He took the time to patiently answer all my questions. His team took care of the job quickly and professionally, and they were really, really clean which I appreciated very much. While I hope to never need his services again, if I do I'd call Abbott's. We've used their competitor in the past and Abbott's is much better. We did call them for this incident but they never even called us back. This review is a bit old, but Abbott's wasn't on Yelp when we used them. Now they're here so I feel obligated to give them a good review because they were awesome. I hoped to never call a restoration company, but unfortunately we had a water heater break and had some minor flooding in our basement. Our sump pump took care of most of it, but the remaining standing water that wasn't immediately removed got into the drywall and caused some mold. We called a couple of plumbers to help, but they told us they don't do water extraction, and one of them told us to call Abbott's. We spoke to Travis and he was very understanding and helpful. He gave us some tips for starting the cleanup, and he sent out a technician (Dave). Dave arrived quickly (within an hour) and started the water extraction right away. While those machines were doing their thing, he cut and removed the drywall that had mold, so that it could be replaced. Once all H20 was removed, he used some kind of industrial sanitizer to disinfect the floor and walls where the water had been, and setup drying fans and de-humidifiers to make sure all the moisture was gone and wouldn't cause any additional mold. (can you tell I stood over his shoulder the whole time asking questions like a 4 year old?) He returned the next day and completed the job, installed the new drywall that had to be removed, then picked up all equipment and was ready to go. In a bad situation, they made us extremely happy with excellent service and immediate response, and we really felt that they cared about helping us. If you have this unfortunate problem, I would recommend Abbott's to cleanup your water damage. These guys are great and they really do care. read more

We were pretty terrified when we found out that we had asbestos in our ceilings and our walls since we planned to renovate most of our new house over the next few years. The thought of going through a full house abatement was really daunting, but the idea of doing it in pieces every time we wanted to touch a wall sounded even worse! Abbotts Fire and Flood was my first call and an easy choice. They gave us a very reasonable price for abating the whole house, got us started quickly, and finished ahead of schedule. A couple days before New Years 2018 we had our Jacuzzi tub Ext line burst and sending water everywhere from our Master bath on the second floor. I called our insurance and with 30 minutes Abbotts was on the line talking with me and assuring me that everything was going to be ok. The guys arrived very clean and very polite. They took their time evaluating the situation and then began to remove wet drywall and set up these huge Dehumidifiers upstairs and down stairs. The set up 4 blowers as well. I honestly think they saved me from a lot of damage. Once it was dry about 3 weeks of blowers they moved forward with removing tile and the tub. I can't say enough on how Professional they all were. We hired Abbotts to do mitigation cleaning and reconstruction after our home was damaged in the Marshall fire. They failed to provide either service adequately. Relatively simple drywall demolition to expose fire damage which should have taken a day or two took nearly two weeks - the crew would come late, take a long lunch, and leave early, if they showed up at all. The cleaning crew was inexperienced in soot removal and were unsupervised and did a marginal job, leaving cobwebs on the walls and soot on the furniture, cabinets, floors and other surfaces throughout the house; we had to clean the soot from the entire house ourselves after they were done. Not only did Abbott's not make any attempt to rectify the problems, they never even acknowledged them, even though their so-called "quality assurance" person saw and documented the issues. As for reconstruction, we could never get the estimator to give us a bid. He kept putting us off week after week with various excuses. We learned later that he had never even contacted our insurance adjuster regarding reconstruction. Apparently they do not have the capability to do fire restoration but would not admit it. On top of everything, they tried to overcharge us by $20,000 by padding the bill in various ways, like overestimating the surface square footage and including charges for work that was not done. So, after several weeks and thousands of dollars, we were no better off, and in some cases worse off, than when they started. How they get any positive reviews at all is a mystery. In over forty years of home ownership we have never worked with a worse service company. read more

Did the bare minimum in first round of repair work, led to delays at a time we really needed things to move along. We had a flood in the middle of the night that affected all three floors of our house. Our hardwood floors were buckling and water was seeping up through them. Abbotts came out ASAP to asses the damage and set up equipment. I was skeptical, but they fixed our floors completely. Phew! Aidin was so pleasant to speak with even though I was panicking. Dave and Brian set up the equipment and assured us that our floors would be fine. Janelle and Jenna were so helpful with scheduling and billing.
