The high end stuff behind the counter was impressive with a fair value asking price. The gentleman handling our business was helpful & friendly. We walked out with the biggest grins to reflect our contenment with finding this gem while scoring a decent October haul to take home. The prices are competitive with those at larger stores on the mainland when you factor in the convenience of not having to leave the island for shopping, especially during the winter season. (The exception is beer prices: For some of the more mainstream brands you can usually get a better price next door or down the street at the grocery stores, and Dr. Watson's almost never runs sales on beer.) People on Pine Island are dedicated to this store, and one of the reasons is that the owner and employees get to know the customers and honestly look forward to seeing them when they visit. It's one of the benefits of living in a small town, I guess. Those of us who live here are happy they're part of the community (and have been for more than 40 years!).
