On the other hand, my personal experience is a hit and missed at Fort Myers. Many times, staff are helpful and direct us to the proper location inside the store in this location. While I was in line and being checked out a woman, maybe if Jamaican decent which is the cashier btw.. kept singing and dancing and moving her hands around why it took me so long to be checked out. People in the other lines where being checked out with simple hey and thank u . I only had two bottles ppl like me be doing Instacart I don't need to be asked if I'm blessed today I don't need to see a song and dance . She was so busy singing and moving her hands that she got a hit total while I'm trying to hit my card on the machine . When I shop at my usual Total Wine location, I can see helpful employees everywhere and they are glad to help. At this Total Wine, it's the complete opposite. I tried to find the employee at the back wine stand for a long time. He saw me looking around and waiting for help and he purposely started a long conversation with another person while I was standing right at the desk. Even when he was finished, I had to ask politely if they had a certain sparkling wine and with his snooty face, he said - probably not and - just because it says it online , we don't all carry the same thing.... When I first went to total wine in 2004, the place was okay. The carts were a little out at the elbows. Now over 20 years later, the carts are disgrace. The front of the store is filthy. It's not much better inside. for the love of God. Hire somebody to Pressure. Wash the filth off of the front of your store. The drinks are slightly cheaper than elsewhere. We went to the Aventura Total Wine in a regular basis, and was sad to no longer be going to that location. Until we checked out the Fort Myers Total Wine. Amazing! They used to have an amazing selection of beers, but in recent years they've carried less and less of the imports (and the ones they do stock, they keep very low quantities on hand). They seem to be really pushing the IPAs, which I personally dislike. Their whisk(e)y selection is nice, but unless you want something really high-end, there's no point in shopping here. I was able to sample some clementine tequila (not a fan) and some mango tequila (this could be addictive) and the girl offering samples was really nice and didn't mind answering questions about the products she wes sampling. The reason for the 3 stars is because I went there looking for a specific product (that I was first introduced to at a Yelp event a couple of years ago) for a gift. I was told by a woman at the customer service desk that they didn't have any in the store. I asked her if they had any of their other flavored whiskeys she said no. When I mentioned I had checked online before coming there and it said they had it in stock, she very rudely said "well we don't have any".She then suggested I try another Total Wine store in the next town over. While we were browsing through the store guess what?! A Christmas miracle..my son found 6 bottles of it on the shelf along with three types of their other flavored whiskeys. Took a trip to Total Wine in Ft Myers, FL this morning. I have been a TW customer for years. Yesterday I was emailed coupons for 15% off of spirits direct bourbon and 15% off spirits direct tequila (below). I grabbed a spirits direct tequila and bourbon. At checkout, my coupons didn't work, so I questioned it. I was told that my bottles were not 'spirits direct'. I then went back to the shelves and took pictures (below). Clearly, both bottles were spirits direct. I then questioned customer service, and they would not honor it, saying that the signs on the higher end spirits direct were supposed to be changed to 'premium spirits', but they forgot to do that. Every single location that I've visited of total wine sucks when it comes to beer. I've visited several stores over several states & every single store has expired beer. And I do not mean expired by a little. Expired by a lot! IPA's from 3+ years ago! I spoke with a manager who stated that they don't even bother with the beer department because the reps deal with it & they screw it up. This company clearly doesn't care about the beer department because each store is absolutely fucked. No beer manager = horrible selection. My partner and I shop here regularly and have found the selection to be excellent! There are some *amazing* wines there for under $10! My partner is a chef and a Master Sommelier, and this store nearly has it all! They have a good selection of beers as well as some wonderful glassware, decanters, and wine-related gifts. We aren't giving them a 5-star review because there are checkout staff who come off as a little unprofessional, or at best *very* bored. Also there are *big* problems with the website which is generally incorrect about wines they have in stock. Most commonly a wine is in stock when the website says it is out-of-stock, but we just happened to discover that quite by accident. One thing I really like are the brochures they have throughout the store. If you are wanting to learn more than the just the basics of wine these brochures are detailed and interesting without being dry. Of course there is an element of marketing inherent in the brochures, but the basics of specific grapes, and the impact of weather, the growing season, and soil types around the vinyard is interesting! He was very polite and nice about it and even gave us pointers in when to line up. When we returned we were forced to deal with Bernadette who was absolutely one of the rudest individuals I've ever had to deal with. It was just isolated to our group either, she was rude to many others that were in line at the time as well. If I need to grab a regular bottle wine or Bourbon I'll have to go somewhere else going forward. I came in with a blurry picture of a bottle of wine sent on the less-awesome front-facing lens of an iPhone (I applaud the effort that took) showing only a green bottle, the shape of the label, and a french word. I showed that to a very nice gentleman who immediately recognized what it was, developed a rosetta-stone style french accent, and told me the entire name, where it was, how delicious it was, and recommended 4 other wines that are similar in taste and price. On top of that, I walked out with a mango infused caribbean ale that i've never seen before and would be hard pressed to find anywhere else - except maybe in the caribbean. What I'm going to miss most about leaving Louisville, KY is the overflowing enthusiasm for beer. The area has numerous micro breweries (three of them amazing) and Sergios (a bar with 1,300 different beers). While I haven't found a bar with an extensive beer list (yet) I'm thrilled total wine is a short drive (or bike ride) from my new home. Total Wine boasts a selection of 1,000 different beers. The usual suspects of Bud and Miller are in attendance but so are unusual gems like Hitachino, the always enjoyable Wells Banana Bread Beer, Stone, and Mikkellers. The Three Floyds Brewery, nor any of my local brews, reach this far south... and that's a bummer. But Total Wine has a selection big enough to please any beer enthusiast. Total Wine also boasts an extensive wine and liquor selection. Alas, I know nothing about wine. The liquor shelves house enough booze to make any mixed drink known to man.
