If you are in Sebring, you need to stop at Chicanes. The restaurant is simply the best in town. The…read morebar area is really nice too. The staff are so attentive. The wine list is amazing! Wines from all around the world. Their list rivals the finest Miami restaurants. I started with a Green Goddess Wedge Salad. The Green Goddess dressing was delicious. It was a nice change from the standard blue cheese wedge dressing. My entree was the Suprema Christina, a classic from 1992. It's a tender chicken breast pan sautéed with mushrooms in a sherry lobster sauce. It came with two jumbo Key West shrimp and linguini pasta. The side green beans were pan seared and nicely wrinkled. The whole dish was an A+. I also enjoyed a nice Justin Cabernet Sauvignon. This restaurant and hotel are nicely positioned near the water. The lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas. I highly recommend visiting this great establishment.

Chicanes Promises Upscale Dining but Delivers an Uneven Experience…read more Chicanes carries itself like an upscale dining room, which is why the night's missteps stood out more than they should have. The evening began on a sour note, and not because of anything on the plate. A heavy downpour had turned the entrance into a shallow lake with slick footing, the kind that makes every step feel unsure. My husband took a hard fall, wrenching his back and bruising his hip. Another guest later mentioned the same slick approach, which tells me this is more than bad luck. For a restaurant that draws an older crowd, safety at the door should not be an afterthought. Inside, the welcome was much warmer. The staff was friendly and our server Ethan handled the holiday rush with calm attention. He stayed present without hovering and made sure we had what we needed. If only the kitchen had matched his level of care. The Thanksgiving menu looked promising, but the execution never quite reached the level the price tag promised. The lobster arrived overcooked and clinging stubbornly to its shell. The sauce meant to lift it fell flat. The butternut squash bisque was pleasant enough, though short on depth. The apple walnut salad was a clear winner. Crisp, balanced, and bright. It deserves a permanent spot on the menu. The entrées continued the theme of missed opportunities. The vegetables needed seasoning, especially the Brussels sprouts, which tasted like they had skipped the last step before leaving the kitchen. The potatoes au gratin stole the show, rich and comforting, which only highlighted how muted everything else tasted. For a meal tipping the scale at around $140, the food should meet the standard the setting implies. Chicanes has the bones of a great restaurant. The staff is strong, the room is inviting, and the menu choices read well. But the flavors need more care, more confidence, and more seasoning. A place aiming for an upscale experience has to deliver more than ambiance. There is potential here, but potential is not enough at this price. With steadier footing at the entrance and sharper execution in the kitchen, Chicanes could be worth the splurge. Tonight, it wasn't.

This tiny little place is right on Route 27 northbound and has the wildly imaginative name of Liquor 27! Atmosphere- It really is a tiny little place and is just getting going. The day I was there the carpenters were still building his cooler so no cold beer yet but it's on the way. I perused the several short aisles and walls of booze. Everything was spotless despite the construction. The Product- The shelves were heavy on the hard liquor and light on wine. This was clearly not the place for buying a bottle of grape. There is also a full selection of lottery and the charge card machine was up and running. My spies had told me the prices were great, so I decided on a test that I had pre approved by 7 statisticians! I bought one bottle of Baileys Irish Cream and it cost me $19.99. I immediately went across the street to a big giant FL chain grocery store that everyone knows. Baileys there was $26.99. Whoa, that got my attention! I then went down the street to the enormous, humongous big-box store that is everywhere. There, Baileys was $20.97. So, it's seems clear that based on my awesomely scientific test that his prices are great! For those of us that prefer to patronize privately owned places as opposed to chains and need a hard liquor buzz, this place will get the job done.

I've eaten here many times, but this time my meal was exceptional! Arriving- This place is out in the boondocks of Avon Park! Trust your GPS to get you started. Once you are closing in there is excellent signage. Of course, you're parking at the clubhouse and there is a decent lot. Watch out for golf carts! Atmosphere- This is a golf club restaurant that is open to the public. It's a big, bright, airy place with two large rooms and a beautiful bar. As many of the customers are just off the golf course, it's very casual. It has quite a few TVs for catching a game but it's definitely not a sports bar. Customer Service- Our server was a bit of a mix. She was very new, very nice, but lacking in knowledge. With a little time, I think she'll be great. Food- A combo of unique and classic American fare. You've got your burgers, chicken parm and alfredo dishes. There is a selection of flatbreads that are awesome, and a giant pretzel served with warm beer cheese that is incredible to share! I was on a mission. I had seen an 8 oz. skirt steak with chimichurri on the menu. It's not often I see chimichurri and I was drooling. I paired it with some fries and looked forward to an amazing lunch. It was out in good time. For a lunch plate, it was a very nice presentation. The nicely seared steak was coated with chimichurri with some additional served on the sided. The pickled onions were a nice touch. The fries were beautifully cooked. The steak was fantastic and a perfect medium rare. The chimichurri was bursting with flavor and the fries were exceptional! The meal was an easy five stars, but the service was a bit off. I'm going with four stars and a strong recommendation to get the skirt steak!

This is one of the finest Italian/Pizza/Sub shops in the area and I've never talked about their awesome cheesesteak! This review rectifies this. Customer Service- So I blew into order my cheesesteak to-go. The young lady at the counter was a little chatty as I am and just fine. It took me maybe two minutes and my sammich was out in about five more. No choice but five stars! Food- So they bake their own rolls here which is a big plus. The gold standard for cheesesteak is an Amoroso roll from the Philadelphia area. These are not that but very good. There was plenty of tender meat with no fatty pieces. Good stuff! Here they add peppers onions & mushrooms, and I have no problem with that, and they were tasty. They use White American cheese, and it was tasty and there was plenty of it. Now for something weird and wonderful. A couple of years ago a good friend asked me to try adding pepperoni to my cheesesteak. I did and it was awesome! I've been doing it ever since and this time it costs me an extra buck. The basic sandwich is $11.99. I brought this bad boy home, and you can see my picture. It was an excellent filling cheesesteak, and I love supporting a local business. Five stars!
