This is the 3rd time my stepson has been targeted in an attack within a month. It's been made clear through staff that our child doesn't initiate. There are two classes for 3 year olds yet they have not been separated and kept in the same class. They say he's autistic though we'd argue that- regardless, it's used as if it's an excuse for it to be okay. It is not. In our most recent incident we picked him up, he was in the corner screaming, with 3 little toddler girls surrounding him as if they were protecting him all saying "kids name, hit him that's why he's crying!" While the teacher was holding him as he was kicking and swinging. When asked what happened she didn't have anything to say and shrugged. This is unacceptable, especially as this is the third incident. Advertised on their website "Child safety and well-being is our primary concern. We care for your children just as we would care for our own." R381-60-12 Child Guidance and Interaction 1. The provider shall ensure that no child is subjected to physical, emotional, or sexual abuse while in care. R381-60-14 Emergency Preparedness, Response and Recovery. 10a. The provider shall report on the day of occurrence of each incident, accident, or injury involving their child. We did not get a report on the day of occurrence. Hell we didn't even get an explanation when it just happened. Also it's a day later and we're still waiting. 11a. If a child is injured and the injury serious but not life-threatening, the provider shall contact the child's parent immediately. On previous incidents, we were not informed when he was bleeding. Just passively told about it when picking him up. Incident reports are lousy here. So is your child's safety. If I cared for your child as my own, I'd let him continuously be around a kid attacking him too. We are working to get him out STAT. read more

My granddaughter attended this daycare for 4 months during her time there upon both drop off and pickup I don't recall ever seeing the facility being totally cleaned, only on one occasion did I see two classrooms being mopped. No only is the facility filthy, some of the teachers are on their phones when children are being picked up and removed from the rooms. There seems to be no guidance or direction for "safety" protocols either as my grandaughter was placed on a table by her teacher and then fell off because the teacher walked away, needless to say she was imm picked up and taken to the ER. read more

I was at a local park when a group from this company came to the park and I was appalled at how the counselors would treat the children. Even the children I nanny were concerned about how off putting the interactions between the counselors and the children were. We had to get up and move away it was so bad. Since this was a field trip I'm not sure how they are with the kids at the facility but overall so sad to watch how rude the counselors were to them. Totally get child-work is a difficult job but there is no reason to treat people like that. read more

I would not recommend this daycare at all. The teachers are rude and they don't follow doctors orders. The teachers need be better trained on how to use the new Procare system. Plus the communication is really bad when they switch teachers around. read more

I've been taking my infant here for about a month now and I'm pretty impressed overall. The staff are very friendly, they maintain or exceed the required staff to infant ratio at all times (1 to 4), and my baby is happy and smiling every time I pick him up. They are well-organized, keeping very good track of when the infants are changed, fed, and napped. They chart this all in a notebook and will give you a report when you come to pick them up. They also write on the bottle when exactly it was given, and put a time and initials on the diaper when it was changed. When you drop the baby off they always ask when the last time was they were fed, changed and/or took a nap so they can better anticipate needs. The infant room is on the small side, but it's completely separated from the toddlers, and the big kids have their own floor upstairs. They even keep the bigger infants (advanced crawlers and standers) in a room apart from the smaller ones. I have also had good and bad experiences with the one on redwood. Both my kids attended here and there werent many problems that i knew of. until my daughter stopped going and started regular school and told me that one of the new teachers maria was physically agressive with her. she said sometimes she would grab her really hard and yell at her to sit down and shove her chair really hard into the table. And then my daughter said she would pretend to be really nice when i got there. Also i didnt agree with the fact that they make girls and boys go to the bathroom together. even if a teacher is with them i believe that is highly inappropriate. read more

I worked here for roughly three months. I have an outright fear of daycare facilities now. Maybe unreasonable, but definitely warranted after my experience here. They refuse to fully staff rooms that call for more staffing, such as with smaller children. They have the legal right to deny putting enough teachers in each classroom based off of "ratios". It is impossible for hard working, loving, caring, people who want to be there, who love the kids, to stay employed for very long because the demands are just too much. It's heartbreaking to find a job you want, only to realize you can't stay in this field because of the ridiculous way in which it is run. A lot of the staff are minors themselves, barely trained, and thrown into sensitive rooms (baby, toddler) because staff turnover is wild. A lot of the older staff isn't kind nor helpful. The main teacher in babies is a nightmare to work with in every sense of the word. The food served is not something any kid wants to eat. It's often a strange mixture of whatever was cheapest to purchase, I suppose. Ham cubes, peas, and potatoes. Mixed together. Not even appealing to an adult. Since working here I tell everyone, do not put your children in daycare unless you absolutely have no other choice. I'm an advocate against daycare. But hopefully it's just this location. Most unprofessional, rudest, disgusting, condescending places I've ever had to endure in my life!...that's only picking up and dropping off my son. My son hates it there too, and cries to both his dad and myself to put him in another school. If I could give them less than one star I would! Their lunches are DISGUSTING and unhealthy for one - I wanted to pack him a healthy lunch but was flat out told that I wasn't allowed to send a healthy lunch and that I "had to have a doctors note saying he needed to be on a special diet in order to pack a lunch." The lady told me that "the lunches there are healthy by the states standards".... yeah so is prison food. ...but, that's the LEAST of the worries. Every time I called for information about ANYTHING they were horribly rude. As though I was some kind of inconvenience for even bothering them. Every time I walked in there I got the stink eye. It got to the point where I felt SO UNCOMFORTABLE that I would run in, drop my son off, and zip out too uncomfortable to even clock him in (which the teacher told me she would do for me at head count). On Thursday (yesterday) I called to find out if my son was sick. The large red haired woman that's always behind the counter told me "it's not your parent time and I don't have to tell you if he's sick!" Really lady!? He's my kid! I have joint custody! What the hell kind of twisted crusty crap is that!? Today I needed my son's attendance records to file paperwork (needed to calculate the hours and money being spent for daycare for a profit and loss statement)... the woman behind the counter (same lovely ginger with the attitude) demanded I sign a contract agreeing to pay $300 per month (my ex pays the daycare and I reimburse him per our agreement). I refused to sign it. Another rude woman came out of her office and said bluntly "you need to tell your ex to stop putting us in the middle!"....wtf! I was just asking for attendance records! I hadn't said anything about my ex other than I reimburse him for daycare! Then the first lady started trying to shame me in front of people for not clocking my son in when I drop him off. I didn't even argue. I could have told her that the whole place makes me cringe and that her attitude makes me dart out of there faster than an Olympic athlete. I told her to give me the damned records and that I wasn't signing any contract but agreed to sign a release. Of course my son's hoodie was upstairs and I asked her if we could go upstairs and get it. She STRAIGHT UP ignored me, looked past me and started talking to the woman behind me. I pay her salary. She works for ME. How dare these people be so rude, condescending, and disrespectful in front of my son, other children and other parents. I drove straight from there to Little Critters, and enrolled my son to start him on Monday and will NEVER, EVER, EVER NEVER EVER DEAL WITH ABC BEGINNINGS AGAIN. EVER. DID I MENTION EVER!? My ex called me while I was at Little Critters because he knew I was upset and revealed that he too had been dying to get our son somewhere else because he hates it too! I have nothing but negative things to say about this craptastic place, and I'm not the only one! I met some moms at Little Critters who had nothing but horrible things to say too. I would literally sell a kidney on the black market to put my kid ANYWHERE better than this place. When I took my son to Little Critters today he screamed "HOORAY I DON'T HAVE TO GO BACK TO ABC! Please just read letter to owner. Explains all. Johnny Andersen, I understand you are the owner and CEO of the ABC New Beginnings Preschool's in Utah. I have HUGE complaints about the West Valley City location. 1st of all it states that they will learn something, anything in your schools. This location no matter when myself, grandmother or my daughter, mother go into pick up my granddaughter there are kids running everywhere, not ever learning a thing or bringing home a project she's made, which the website states they will. There is rarely anyone at the front desk that I can ask a question from and their bookkeeping is atrocious. The first time I picked my granddaughter up I asked them were I logged her out for the day. I was told that I didn't need to and they knew who I was so it was no problem. This was also told to my daughter. This went on for over a month. Now the director, 3 months later, came to my daughter and told her that she owes $400.00. Where from? Really three months later? They are paid from the state and they have never said anything about my daughter owing anything extra. She is only there about 2-3 days a week and she is set up for 20 hours. I've kept track weekly and we have rarely gone over the 20 hours a week. Maybe a half hour once in a while when traffic has caused me to be a little late picking her up. When I did find out that I was supposed to be logging her out I went to the director and told her that I was told I didn't need to do that. She just gave me a crusty look and would not even respond to the issue. How do they figure the time if I'm not clocking her out? 90% of the time the stupid time clock they have says she must be clocked in before she can be clocked out. So, how do they figure? Do they just make up the time. I think so. When my daughter was approached about the money, she also mentioned that I was told this and she was too. The nasty, unprofessional, director "Said oh they would never say that!" Even though I had brought it to her attention. Liar! The Director didn't want to give my daughter anything as far as a record of what the check in and check out times where. She said, "Well I'll print it out but you are paying it anyway." Really? You are the ones who has to prove this not me and not my daughter. She gave her the printout and sure enough there were no check in times from when they pick her up from kindergarten or any clock out's from me. There have been many times my daughter has picked her up early 1:30 and 2:00 there is only one showing on their supposed printout. We are "NOT" paying this. For many reasons. They haven't done one thing that they promise on the website. They haven't taught her anything. The kids are just running all over. No one in the office. Too many children per teacher. The teachers have been spraying water in my granddaughter's face if they think she being loud. This is a form of corporal punishment. I will sure as hell tell everyone about this. There are so many older kids that I've heard screaming and carrying on when I pick her up. My granddaughter is a quite child and is always just playing with her friends and the toys. I'm not saying she can't get rowdy but what right do they have to do this??? Everything is out of control. The place smells always. You ask the teacher a question or the director and you can't get a straight answer. The director should be definitely fired!!! She doesn't do her job, is rude, and doesn't care about anything but sitting in her office or berating and talking about teachers in the open where everyone can here. Do you ever do unscheduled visits to your own daycares? Does the state? They are not accredited only have a business license, which I know from experience is one of the easiest things to get. Have you read any of the comments about this particular location on the internet. Do you care? You are a Representative on the Child Welfare Legislative Oversight Panel and yet you have a daycare that is negligent, using corporal punishment, and sloppy about how they run YOUR school. Really!? We need to have the funds from the state moved to another school. We need help doing this. We refuse to take our daughter & granddaughter back to this child care. They wouldn't take her back anyway unless my daughter pays this $400.00. They are not having the state pay this. They have to prove it and they can't. I can send you a non-doctored copy of the printout they gave my daughter, that is still not correct but still proves out point about clocking in and out. You need to fix this. read more

As far as day cares/ preschools go, this is more of a cage to hold your kid than a learning environment. I have no clue which class room my child is in from day to day. This is not a teaching preschool, its a "feed your kid crackers and water and let them listen to the teachers brand of music" daycare. read more

Courtney at the West Jordan facility on Redwood Rd had worked out an agreement for my children to attend here. She stated I would be on a daily pay basis but my children stopped going halfway through the month because we had moved. Well, they switched me to a monthly pay after we moved and sent me to collections for $500 without mailing me any statements or trying to call me about a past due balance. I've tried reaching out to the billing dept multiple times and no one will return my calls or emails. Facility wasn't clean most of the time and they call you for every little thing to come pick up your littles. My two year old was placed in a room upstairs by herself because she was crying and the teachers didn't want to take the time to calm her down. The first two weeks my children attended here they became very sick with a bronchial infection, pink eye, and whooping cough. This facility is horrible. read more

My son attended ABC Great Beginnings in Murray for years and we absolutely loved it. The center director was such a peach and extremely easy to work with. Then we moved closer to the Riverton location. We thought it would be fantastic to stay with this company that we've loved for so long. That was until we met this center director. I have NEVER conducted business with someone more RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. She constantly talks down to me and is EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL, even in front of other parents. Although, it is a beautiful center and are great with the kids, which is why they get 2 stars. read more

We've had some good and not so good experiences with ABC great beginnings. My 2 toddlers were there for about a year. Good: - They seem to have a pretty solid schedule with activities and change the class topics weekly. - My kids really enjoyed going and made lots of friends. - Most of the teachers were great and we always felt like our kids were loved and attended for (with the exceptions of when they hadn't had a diaper change all day). - We had some trouble getting them consistent with it but they mostly potty trained my toddler - We weren't capped at 45 hours. We usually only used 40 but some days we needed them there 10 hours because of conflicting work schedules and we weren't charged extra. Cons: - Biggest issue, and for some this may be a MAJOR issue but we had 2 months in a row that we were charged double despite being promised the issue was resolved the first time and when we left we were still charged a week later. They need to have someone specifically assigned to this so there aren't more errors. Our kids have now been unenrolled since Aug yet we've been charged twice for attendance.(over $1100 each time) and had to call and have them refund it. -Their pamphlet says flipflops are recommended and we knew that and let our children make the decision to wear them. Every day for weeks the front staff would tell us they couldn't until we made them look it up in the manual, then they said well we reserve the right to prohibit them from certain behaviors like riding bikes. which was fine but we didn t like being told how to parent our children and our children made the decision to wear sneakers. - Our children didn't always have sunblock put on which was a major concern for us because our daughter had some serious burn scars on her legs that were still healing. - I'm not going to lie, the food they feed the children is food I'd never have in my house. Muffins, canned fruit, sugary cereals, mac n cheese, etc. I honestly don't consider anything that processed real food and it certainly isn't nutritious. - They don't make the kids cleanup their own toys, they line the kids up on the wall and the adults clean it. You can imagine what kind of responsibility issues this is causing at home with my 3 year old who tells mommy to pick up his mess because he s overwhelmed. - There were a few instances earlier on that it was obvious my children weren't getting their diapers changed regularly but that seemed to get resolved once we complained. Overall I have recommended them a few times but I wouldn't say they're outstanding by any means, just your typical daycare. read more

RIVERTON LOCATION ONLY: 12523 S 4150 W, Riverton, UT 84096, (801) 316-1071 I have been debating over the last few months whether my review would make any difference to those who are reading the editorial, and I felt the need to speak out and let truth be heard (so however you take my review this is my experience). My child attended ABC Great Beg when it was first open and just few months ago the contract ended (thank goodness, a blessing in disguise). You see prior to the termination my child went through a very dramatic event at ABC. As of today my child can tell you exactly what took place; beside the physical scare, nothing can compare to the emotional and mental anguish that my child experienced during the time attending ABC. I would warn any of you parent to really consider putting your child at this center because I brought up concerns that the director Kellirae said that I over exaggerated and took the event (a scenario I personal witnessed with this exact child who hurt my child) out of context (when Kellirae wasn't there that morning). So my concern was not addressed and my child left the center (is now attending a wonderful learning environment which didn't cost much more and more secured than ABC); it was a good thing to take my child out of that harmful place not just physical but emotional. My child went and saw a Counselor to help deal with the event that the Counselor confirmed that the move was the best thing that I could have done, because the Counselor saw "aggressive" behaviors at the time the event took place and few months ago right after attending this new place; the counselor saw the before and after attitude; and all this is from the surrounding that my child was exposed too. You want to leave your child in a place that value your safety and concern (as a concerned parent) and not just about "protecting" the children but ensuring you (as the parent) that your child will be in a good loving environment...not being bullied and not accepting disruptive behaviors (these children are 4-5 years of age). And aside from this, I would not trust anything the Director Kellirae says unless it's in writing, so record all your conversation. I would warn too that the place is not secured, no cameras or locked entry system, young girls out front to greet you, yet doesn't know much about the policy or procedures so everything that needs to be addressed will have to done with Kellirae.
