Located on Hwy 1in Half Moon Bay, there is plenty of room to park, admission is free, thousands of pumpkins to choose from, and plenty of wheelbarrows available to hold your choices. Believe me, if you're picky, you'll be rolling your wheelbarrow all over the place! Prices range from $5 to $50. Specialty pumpkins are separated into different bins for easy browsing. I chose a beautiful red-orange Cinderella pumpkin for $5! If you want to take pictures of the fields of orange for fall family pics, this is a great place to do it. It's selfie-central! Go, have fun, pick a pumpkin and breathe in the ocean air!

I would say its like 70% amusement park with rides and maybe 30% pumpkin patch. They are small compared to the farms on Livermore but you'll still have a good time here. Kids who are easily overwhelmed by crowds may enjoy it here. They have a store specializing in smaller, almost hand-held pumpkins and you'll still see a little haystack maze with pumpkins. They also have like three funhouses and a few carnival games. Extremely difficult to catapult a rubber frog into a lily pad - physics just aren't in your side! For food, they have full concession stands with various goodies on a stick plus ice cream. The pumpkin stores used to sell pumpkin pie but I think its just chips and popcorn now. Bathrooms are just porta-potties.

When it's not a pumpkin patch, the lot gets used for other things - such as Xmas trees. I've been here a few times over the years with various groups. Entrance prices are relatively decent, but ride prices can rack up quickly - especially if you have multiple kids. There are plenty of things to see/do even if not participating in the rides. Staff is usually very friendly. I think they've added on some games for the kids over the years, such as the water ball one. The maze is always fun to get lost in and the hayride offers views within the corn fields. The petting zoo has some cute animals. There's a small cafe area in the middle of everything where you can grab some snacks/food. If you're here on a weekday expecting less of a crowd, there are school tours going around and may be more packed than expected.

We went through the haunted house- definitely meant for little kids, but the maze was beautifully done! Lots of pumpkins everywhere, and the corn field was aesthetically appealing as well. Arata's is quite sizeable, which is perfect for people that may get more claustrophobic in smaller farms. Great spot to visit as a family in my opinion- there may be better options if you're going for a more romantic vibe?

There's no shortage of photo ops here, between the fields of pumpkins, maze, train ride, petting zoo, and haunted barn. Most of these are really geared towards children. I mainly visited to pick up some pumpkins, take some photos, and let my dog roll around in the hay (he had a blast). All the staff members we interacted with were super friendly. Honestly, I'd have prefer the other pumpkin patches that are larger and have more photo ops. It was nice enough; we took pictures and maybe spent 30 mins there. I don't think there's a huge selection of pumpkins. I like the tiny palm sized ones, and the smallest ones there are like mini watermelon sized.

We've been coming here for a couple years now since we moved to the peninsula and it's been a great experience. Like any tree farm, come early because all the good trees are gonna get taken right after Thanksgiving. Definitely wear good walking shoes because a lot of the best trees are uphill and require walking on a path of roots and tree branches. My toddler struggles a little bit with the paths to get up to the trees in the "best trees" part of the lot (I don't know if it's actually the best place to find trees or that's just what their sign says, but that that's always the area that we go to to grab a tree). Note that they only take cash and trees are around $80. Be prepared because there's no cell phone service and if you do forget cash you'll have to drive back about 20 minutes to get some (might be speaking from experience there...).
