My friends and I visited Arata's together in early November- Half Moon Bay boasts a bevy of pumpkin farms right by this beautiful sleepy town on the coast of the Peninsula. We went through the haunted house- definitely meant for little kids, but the maze was beautifully done! Lots of pumpkins everywhere, and the corn field was aesthetically appealing as well. Arata's is quite sizeable, which is perfect for people that may get more claustrophobic in smaller farms. Great spot to visit as a family in my opinion- there may be better options if you're going for a more romantic vibe? read more

I'd visited Arata's once before in 2021, and it hasn't changed at all! We LOVE a dog-friendly pumpkin patch. It was definitely crowded on a Saturday afternoon, and parking was $20, which felt a bit steep. Luckily, this also provides you with a $10 pumpkin voucher in order to offset the cost - I was able to get 2 tiny pumpkins and a tiny acorn squash for "free". There's no shortage of photo ops here, between the fields of pumpkins, maze, train ride, petting zoo, and haunted barn. Most of these are really geared towards children. I mainly visited to pick up some pumpkins, take some photos, and let my dog roll around in the hay (he had a blast). All the staff members we interacted with were super friendly. Arata's pumpkin farm is one of our family's favorite Halloween traditions! Every year they change the maze, so it never gets boring year after year. They've definitely increased staffing to keep the lines moving faster this year, but we always leave with a pumpkin, since up to $10 is included in the price of parking. The maze is fun for children and adults, and usually takes us 30 minutes to an hour to complete. Overall, it's worth the price for a fun evening! Ps there is accessible parking, but most of this area is unpaved so as long as you're comfortable with dirt roads, it should be accessibility friendly. read more

So I looked this place up online. I was excited to take the drive out here to the coast from the East Bay! Parking was pretty long and consistent but not too bad. $20 to park and $10 back towards a pumpkin what a deal! We did buy wristbands! $45 is way to much! But we probably should have only bought one for my daughter. One parent gets to go free with the child. Not worth the price! Pumpkins are to expensive and they didn't have anything to eat or drink that had pumpkin theme. Or fall theme. The scenery was pretty! Was cooler because of the fog but still sunny! When we came in we tried to get coffee at the little shop! But the lady running the shop said "they were all out!" so I asked her "When would the next batch be ready?" She said, it depends on customer and had an attitude, sounded like she didn't want to make the coffee. So we ignored it and said we would come back later. We did love the maze! Probably one of the best mazes yet! Definitely what makes it 4 stars! and the bouncy houses were great! And the haunted house was definitely scary. The hayride was fun as well. There's a lot to do! And the pumpkins on the vine are very authentic and original! The wristbands are definitely worth it for kids who will be here all day! But a rip off for the adults. We loved it but don't know if we'd drive back and come here for the journey! Was ok experience! read more

We've been to so many pumpkin patches all over the Bay Area and this was truly a pleasant experience! More importantly, it was not crowded at all, which I feel like most of them can feel really overwhelming. Their pumpkin selection was very diverse, with so many to choose from. My kiddo loved pulling the wagon along to pick pumpkins. I like that you can either buy tickets à la carte (just for the attractions) or buy the wristband. Given my kid isn't going to want to do all the attractions, it was actually a good deal to just pay à la carte for things like just the train ride, hayride, etc. All the staff were super friendly and kind and helpful! We came home with four medium pumpkins and two minis for less than $35! They even offer a free mini pumpkin if you write a review and I can honestly say I didn't take advantage of it and wrote this review after coming home just because! Great way to kick off the spooky season! read more

Such a fun experience!! My boyfriend and I came here for a date for the first time and it was so good! We bought our tickets online in advance, the combo with the haunted barn and the hay maze. The haunted barn was pretty scary, the actors were great! The maze was very fun to do. Will definitely come again! read more

Second time here. Favorite thing is the maze. It's different each time and this time. Took us 19 minutes to finish the hay maze. The haunted house is different too but there's a few in there that can give you an unexpected scare. Petting zoo, love the goats so chill. Ducks don't like people though. Hay ride was fun too. Nice little ride around the farm. All in all I would come back next year for a third time! read more

Beautiful & fun pumpkin farm. Only one that's open late until 10:30 in HMB. Parking was $20 but it goes towards pumpkins, the maze was fun esp at night, they had a haunted barn, pony rides and other fun stuff. Super cute and fun place. They have a lot of places to sit and eat with kids, a lot of tables and benches, and they sell packaged food and snacks. Prices vary on days, parking lot is pretty big read more

Came in very below expectations, and the price for the hay maze + haunted house makes it seem like you get value, but was pretty lackluster. Please note this place seems to be like a place for kids even with the haunted house offering, so if you'r any older than a preteen this place may not be as fun as expected. I came on a Friday afternoon and parking was easy and free. For starters, the hay maze was pretty fun and well thought out, but there wasn't really a feeling of lost since it was a pretty basic maze. On wrong turns, you go for a bit and you can backtrack. Especially with more people, the maze becomes a lot less fun since you can deduce which path is the right one after seeing the parties ahead of you turn around. If anything, this is one perfect maze for little kids to run around and have fun in. The haunted house was a pretty sad experience, and the only thing "haunted" about it was that it's in a barn. It was literally a 1 or 2 minute walk, with most fixtures being there to scare off little kids. If you're looking for a haunted house, this place again misses the mark, especially for crowds where middle school aged kids and lower are the primary target. They had one actor, and the rest was displays with music. If you're here for the haunted house, there are other places for better scares. The main fields of the pumpkin patch weren't that impressive, and I was surprised how little there was to do. The pumpkin patch itself isn't aesthetic to a point where there are photo worthy spots or cool fixtures, but just one fixture. Most photo spots seems to be ruined with large NO SMOKING signs around it, if not other random signs. Solid experience for family fun, but I'll only be back if I have little me's running around in the future. read more

Our family had a wonderful experience here. We love that it's free parking and free admission. We'd just have to pay for individual activities, which are also affordable, ie pony ride $10. Lots of cute spots for photos. We'd like more homemade snacks and drinks though. It would be a hit if they had Vietnamese corn milk or served some hot pumpkin spice lattes. :) Overall, highly recommend this farm! read more

Free parking the last weekend of September and Monday through Thursdays in October! October weekends are busy and parking is $20 but they give you a $10 voucher to spend on pumpkins. Go early in themorning to beat the crowds. Upon entering the gate, you're typically greeted by a friendly employee or sometimes the owners. Then to the right the first window is where you purchase wristbands or tickets for the maze, haunted barn, hay ride, train ride, petting zoo, or playland. If you plan on spending a lot of time, then the wristband can be worth it. The hay maze was difficult this year and I have gone through it twice. The middle window is where you check out to purchase pumpkins. Be sure to use your coupon/voucher!! To the left after the main entry is the snack shack full of little goodies. Make sure to get some fudge and ice cream on the way out! And of course, under the extra large white tent is where lots of pumpkins are located. There's also a bunch behind it and near the corn field and hay maze. This year, I noticed the toddler hay maze is to the left of the large maze. It has pumpkins stacked on the top entrance and this is free. There's also picnic tables and benches available but can also be reserved ahead of time for parties. read more

Very fun attraction. Fun and challenging hay maze, lots of pumpkins available (towards which the parking voucher can be used for purchase, and lots of other attractions like a haunted house and a train ride. The maze changes every year, so you can always expect a new challenge every time. Highly recommend Arata Pumpkin Farm every Halloween! read more

Went here with my bf and our 9 month old dog! It was her first time at a pumpkin patch and we wanted to find one that was super dog friendly and Arata's was! While expensive it was one of the few places driving distance from san jose where she could do everything with us! We went through the hay maze and on the hay ride with her. They told us she could ride the train and walk through the haunted house as well! (without the jump scares of course) There were many dogs so beware of that, especially in the hay maze with the blind corners. But everyone was super respectful, and the dogs were having fun! The Hay maze was pretty difficult. Might have enjoyed it more on a cooler day, but after what felt like forever turning down dead ends, we finally cheated and asked one of the employees for hints. If you are interested in a challenge this is the place for you! As for pricing, parking is $20, but they give you a coupon for $10 off your pumpkin purchase. Activities were pretty pricey, we paid a little over $40 for two people to do the hay maze and hay ride. Pumpkin prices were not very clear as an employee looked at our array of pumpkins and wrote down a number ($69 for a huge one and 4 small/medium ones) with no price breakdown. I'm sure they would provide one if asked tho. And they had some of the biggest pumpkins that I seen at a pumpkin patch before. While expensive and a bit of a drive for us, we got everything we wanted out of it and had an amazing day with our pup Millie! We plan to go back next year and try some of the other dog friendly patches in the area. read more

This is one of the better pumpkin patches to come with your kids. They've got a hayride, train, haystack maze, petting zoo, playland, haunted house, and tons of pumpkins. Keep in mind, you will be paying $20 for parking, with a $10 discount at the register, you will pay for the rides as well as the pumpkins. It will not be a cheap day, but it's a fun place, run by a happy staff. There's plenty of parking, but I recommend you show up early, because it fills up quick. read more

My friends & I had a fun time in the corn maze! We also went to the petting zoo which had goats, pigs, chickens, and ducks. The goats were quite friendly and you can feed them for an extra $1. There's also a hay ride, haunted house, and play area for toddlers. Went with a group of friends on a weekday around 5pm. Free admission & free parking. It's super cute! Fun for everyone & fairly decently sized! Hay maze, haunted house, train rides, petting zoo for a fee. Porta potty restrooms. Cute opportunity spots for photos both cute ones & scary ones. People brought their dogs in. This was such a cute and fun pumpkin patch! My favorite one I've been to in the Bay so far. There was a great and diverse selection of pumpkins, along with some fun activities. They give you a $10 voucher for pumpkins if you pay for parking ($20), and the pumpkins were a great price. My friends and I had so much fun with the hay maze!! It was challenging and we were able to complete it after an hour. The workers here are so friendly and nice. I'll definitely be back next year! read more

Wonderful area, first class incredibly nice people. I swear that maze was mine blowing. There is so much to do there for animals and kids. You'll never have to worry about a dull moment. They are also pet friendly and they like the military. I would go back in a minute money well spent. Make sure that when you visit this place to visit their little snack bar because if you go in, they have pies and fudge that they make that is so delicious and it's made with the pumpkins from the property and it's so creamy and not that thick dense pumpkin pie junk you see everywhere else it was perfect pumpkin pie. The whole experience is a family affair and I had so much fun. You can be a grown-up with the child mine in this place. The 3 lovely Arata sisters were solid gold and helpful. read more

My toddler struggles a little bit with the paths to get up to the trees in the "best trees" part of the lot (I don't know if it's actually the best place to find trees or that's just what their sign says, but that that's always the area that we go to to grab a tree). Note that they only take cash and trees are around $80. Be prepared because there's no cell phone service and if you do forget cash you'll have to drive back about 20 minutes to get some (might be speaking from experience there...).

We visited Arata Pumpkin Farm on a Saturday evening, hoping for some autumn fun, but left disappointed. First, parking was $20, which seemed excessive. Once inside, the pumpkin patch had a good selection of pumpkins in the center, but the only attractions available at night were the corn maze and a haunted maze. The VIP wristbands were already sold out, so we opted for the two-attraction pass, which cost $80. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the price. While the corn maze was fun, the haunted maze was just a basic walkthrough with no actors or scares, hardly meeting the standard of a haunted experience. To top it off, we grabbed some hot chocolate, which cost $5. The cup was too hot to hold, and when we asked for an extra cup to double up, we were charged extra, as they didn't have cup sleeves. Overall, the experience felt overpriced and lacked the excitement we expected. For the cost, I'd recommend skipping this farm and finding a more worthwhile destination. read more

Jennifer Holm Oh no! This is has become a wonderful family tradition for us. I have pictures of my kids in the maze going back to 2004. We've come every year since. My youngest has been every year he's been alive--he learned to walk the night before we we...nt in 2008, so some of his first steps were teetering through the pumpkin patch, and using the pumpkins to pull himself up again when he'd fall over. My older children were old enough this last year to venture through on their own - they took such delight in finding the Minotaur, and the golden gourds were a bigger deal to them than any of their other trophies. There is such a creative whimsy to our experiences at the maze - I would be heartbroken to lose them in our future. read more

Had a great time with my husband at Arata's Pumpkin Farm! They have a nice selection of pumpkins to choose from. Parking is $20 but you get a $10 voucher that goes towards purchasing a pumpkin. The hay bale maze was really fun and took us about 20-30 minutes to find the exit. The haunted house is small but also fun. There aren't any pop-ups, which I appreciated. We also tried the tractor ride - very bumpy so I don't recommend if you get motion sickness! There were a lot of porta potties so you don't need to wait too long. They have a lot of activities for kids. My only recommendations would be to have someone clean the porta potties more often and to have a selection of snacks like kettle corn, etc. read more

Just horrible. Money to waste. Security and workers are rude. Literally talking bad about the customers right in their face. LITERALLY WHAT IS COVID FOR THESE PEOPLE. No social distancing, workers barely had their masks on. Hand sanitizer stations were out. HORRIBLE. SEBASTIAN ( has glasses ) who works in the petting zoo is racist. If you are a single white mom, he will be more than happy to give your kids the animal food so you don't pay but if you're a family; well "you got to pay". All the staff here are disgusting. I love this place. I have been taking my family here every year for the past 6 or 7 seasons. My kids are teenagers now and they still look forward to going to the Straw Bale Maze. I have recommended this day out to many of my friends and everyone thanks me for it. There is only one draw back and that is the traffic getting to half moon bay during pumpkin season. I can't reduce the star review for the farm because it has nothing to do with the traffic. There is something to do for kids of all ages, a good old fashioned family fun time, long live Arata!! read more

I decided to take a mini trip to half moon bay with my friends to this pumpkin patch and let me just say I was not disappointed! We first started off with taking a few pictures with the very large selection of pumpkins, then headed to the petting zoo where we got to see so many cute animals. We then proceeded to move onto the hay maze where my friends and I had so much fun. Lastly we finished off with purchasing a pumpkin and carving them at the carving station. Had a great time at the pumpkin farm! The pumpkins are fairly priced $15-20 for a good sized pumpkin to carve. On the weekends they charge $20 for parking which I think is overkill but you get a $10 voucher towards a pumpkin. The hay maze is actually hard and was VERY FUN - if you come here you need to do the maze ($20). I would NOT recommended the haunted house - it was $15 per person and took about 3 minutes to get through. It's very easy to spend a lot but had a great time read more

Definitely seemed a little smaller that last year, no haunted house or giant hay maze, the latter replaced by a smaller corn maze. Still had pony rides and petting zoo...maybe hay rides? We come every year and love going through the hay maze. This year it was extra fun because they put a lot of cool statues in the middle of the maze. The first time we went through it took 40 minutes. We did it a second time and came under eight minutes. We were also able to see the Minotaur and got a cute photo with him. This is always one of the highlights of the fall season for us. read more

To get this experience going, you'll check-in with the staff and let them know you want to do the sunflower experience. It's $20 for 6 sunflowers and they give you looper (thing used to cut the flowers), sign a waiver, and you can into the two different sunflower fields to pick which ones you like. If you want to walk the fields, without picking flowers, it's $12 per person. Once we paid, we grabbed our looper and headed out. We had the dogs with us, and they had a blast just walking around and taking in the scenery. We found the sunflowers we wanted, and headed back toward the entrance to cut and clean the ones we picked. When we were finished, they wrapped up our flowers in a bag with some water so they could make the journey back home with us. The staff here were amazing. Since it was our first time doing this, they were patient with us and explained their best tips to cut and clean. Very nice people all around! Definitely a fun coast side experience and a great thing to do when the weather is as nice as it's been. If you are planning on going out into the fields, highly recommend bringing shoes you don't mind getting dirty.

The staff that I met in the front was very nice. :) I will say this place is getting a bit PRICEY, the prices seem to go up every year but the activities are relatively the same. I think a date for two with some activities easily hits past $80-$100. I can't even imagine what big families have to pay. *GASP* lol. It would be nice if they offered discounts for return visits, loyalty customers, or family packs tbh. These prices in this economy?! lol Just joking. (But definitely something to think about.) ...Sadly I think this place isn't affordable for most people especially if you have a big family it's $8 per person just to get in. *Eek* an entrance fee for a family of 5 would be $40 WITHOUT activities... definitely not economical but... If you have the money to spend definitely check it out! The Halloween games and activities are awesome + super fun. I will say we made the mistake of buying food here (yikes on bikes!) the food is honestly terrible lol. I went on a cold evening and was super excited to get hot chocolate to stay warm but ended up with KINDA WARM watery chocolate. *bleh* Broke my heart honestly. lol. The churro was okay though and the pretzel was.. moderately acceptable. :) Sooo overall I would say Activities: 5/5 ~definitely super fun! Value: 4/5 ~bring that wallet baby Food: 0/5 ~I would never eat this again even if they paid me lol. Believe me, if you're picky, you'll be rolling your wheelbarrow all over the place! Prices range from $5 to $50. Specialty pumpkins are separated into different bins for easy browsing. I chose a beautiful red-orange Cinderella pumpkin for $5! If you want to take pictures of the fields of orange for fall family pics, this is a great place to do it. It's selfie-central! Go, have fun, pick a pumpkin and breathe in the ocean air!

We first checked it out during the grand opening and were impressed by how open, bright, and thoughtfully set up the space was. It feels much more spacious and creative than other DIY spots we've visited. We've since gone back for camps and casual weekend visits, and she always finds something new she wants to make. The custom comic book and stuffie stations are especially fun and unique. The staff has also been consistently kind, patient, and helpful every time we've been there. Such a fun place for creative kids.

We were welcomed and invited into the stores that were open during our visit. My favorite area was the succulents, as a succulent collector I obviously was drawn here. I'd like to make special note of the love and care for the plants. Often times when purchasing plants they are not thriving, they are hanging on for dear life or are semi healthy. All plants in all shops were EXTREMELY healthy! The humidity was ever so present in the store with the house plants, the dryness was very present in the area with the succulents, the lighting was good and the plants were lush, not stretchy, and were properly placed for sunning. I did not pay attention in the other stores but did notice that the succulent store also listed their plants as toxic if there was toxins in them harmful to children or pets!

We were able to secure a parking space in the last row, thankfully. Already Pastorino's was bustling with families and young children, eager to partake in the many activities like the train ride, big slide or was it a bouncy house?, hayride, etc. We were grateful for the no-admission fee, but you do pay for the rides, food, etc. Since we didn't ride anything, I have no idea of their cost. My friend and I took advantage of the many photo ops around the property. There is a delightful gift shop that even carried the coveted Labubus, amidst all of their Halloween inspired gifts. Pastorino's is beautifully and whimsically decorated for Halloween. I'm sure you'll find it charming, even if you're without children.

Spanish town is one of our favorite restaurants in the old downtown. If you think the town is quirky, wait in till you see this little gem. It just feels comfortable being inside. The covered patio in the back is where our favorite table is. I always order the goat. It is spicy and slow simmered and fabulous. All of the other dishes are equally made authentically, and like your momma made it. The service is friendly, professional and fast. They have a off street parking in the back. The margaritas are the best in town.

They have a handful of tiers that have different items you can make including paper weights, ornaments, pumpkin, and a terrarium. Each tier is priced differently and gradually increases as you move up a tier. When you book/preregister for your class, you have to select the tier you want to make from, but you are able to change it when you get there. My mom had selected a tier 2 item when booking, but switched to tier 1 the day of, and we were charged appropriately. Instructors were very helpful and gave good insight and demonstrated how the process worked. They were very hands on, and could be even more so if you needed them to be. Our class had some younger kids as well as adults, and everyone was given great care and the assistance they needed. You take turns each making your piece one at a time, so the actual process per person probably took around 20 minutes for tier 0-2 items. Depending on class size and how many people are in your group/when you arrive, you could expect to be there anywhere from 1 hour to 2.5. You don't get to take your blowing home right away, it has to sit in a hot oven overnight to set, so I sadly haven't seen my finished product yet, but I can't wait to pick it up and start putting it to use! Good pro-tip, wear long sleeves! I wore short sleeves because I figured I would be too hot in long, but the molten glass is VERY HOT and can irritate your skin just from the proximity! My arm turned super red and had a little bit of a heat rash the rest of the day, but it went away by the next morning.

My friends and I all made small pumpkins to remember our visit and they turned out to be so beautiful. The day we came someone was wrong with the oven. It wasn't as hot as it should've been but the workers teaching us were very cool and easy going and we were still able to make our glass. They gave great instruction and helped us the whole time. I learned so much and loved learning how to do this! I like that they can even mail you your item for a small fee since it takes a day or two to cool. I would definitely do this again! It's such a special experience.

I went with a very sensible gardening mission: buy lavender plants to attract pollinators for my Meyer lemon and Bearss lime trees. Very practical. Very responsible. Nothing could possibly go wrong. Then I opened the door. The scent of fresh lavender was incredible. Not the artificial fragrance from candles or room sprays, but the real thing. The entire greenhouse smelled like a spa, and my quick errand immediately became a leisurely wander. The shop is beautiful, with healthy plants, gorgeous pottery, garden décor, lavender bath and body products, gifts, and more lavender varieties than I knew existed. I found myself comparing Provence, Phenomenal, Hidcote, French, Spanish, BeeZee Pink, and Burgundy like I was preparing for a horticulture exam. I eventually came home with two gorgeous plants, Provence and Phenomenal. Were they more expensive than the ones I could have picked up at Home Depot? Absolutely. Were they also fuller, healthier, and some of the most beautiful lavender plants I had seen? Also absolutely. The staff stayed quietly in the background, which worked perfectly for me because I didn't need help and could take my time looking around without feeling hovered over. I left with two beautiful lavender plants, a very happy new gardener's heart, and one clear expectation: The bees had better show up now.
