Never, never, never use this company! From what I understand, the son inherited this business from his father. I was begging him to come and finish my job and he would not come back until I prepaid for the service!! I never heard of that before but I bit the bullet and went over there with a check. So 3 days later they still hadn't come back. The job was connected to the exhaust pipe for a small heating unit. It was emitting exhaust fumes into the room! A dangerous situation. I again begged the owner and told him I should have read the terrible online reviews before I hired them. He threatened to sue me for ruining their reputation!! I told him that it wasn't me who wrote the reviews - I just had read the TERRIBLE reviews! I did tell him that eventually I would be writing a review. I told him he needed a lesson in customer service. They eventually finished the job. That's all I will say about that!! read more

our hot water heater decided to burst at the nut on the main tube. I went out and bought the replacement part but was having trouble getting everything installed. We called Abco and the gentleman Bob walked me through the process and helped me get the water heater back up and running. $257 to fix a thermocouple plus a 6% charge up for using a credit card. Really, wow!!! I am in the wrong field of work. Lesson learned, next time I will call around before calling the first place I can think of. Water heater stopped working so I called ABCO. On my fridge was a business size card magnet with their information so I figured this was a good place to call. Over the phone I was told the service fee would be $75 and that included 20 minutes of labor. Okay, I understand there will be a charge for showing up. Repair man was in and out in about 20 minutes and it still cost $272.42 to replace a thermocouple on a water heater. This is just my opinion, I am not an expert but I think I might have gotten had here!!! As the repair man is leaving he hands me another magnet with the paid invoice. So I wrote a review and got the "third generation owner", JEFF to post his lies. First off, I never use profanity with anyone let alone his trailer trash office manager who doesn't know how to talk or even what her role with the company is. I admitted I was angry but I don't swear OR use profanity. Secondly, I had the unit repaired on Sunday July 22, 2018 by someone who knew what they were doing. All this crap about dirty coils and filters makes them look like idiots. If JEFF would have done a pressure test (like he said the guy last year should have done?) he would have found a HUGE hole in the refrigerant tube. All of JEFF's refrigerant blew straight out in 24 hours. It appeared that what had happened was that a copper discharge tube had been bent the wrong direction by the manufacturer and it had rubbed up against the refrigerant tube to the point of fracturing a hole. All fixed and working perfect now. I guess JEFF and JENNIFER sell their service package because it's something a third grader could do and that's all they know how to do. Don't let them sell you a bill of any goods. They are CLUELESS as to what they are doing. I wondered why they had subbed out the original installation of the 8 units to another company. Probably because they couldn't figure it out themselves!!!!!!! read more

His actual name is Jeff. Jeff is a very kind, conscientious and hard working person. Everything about this company is amazing, from the first call to schedule a quote to the installation finish! Called ABCO for a quote to install new furnace/AC. Jeff showed up in the time frame given, was very patient answering all my questions, gave me a couple different options explaining each one along with info to refer back to. I got to pick my installation date so I didn't have to miss work. The installers show up when scheduled. They cleaned up after leaving the area cleaner then it was before they arrived and even did a quick run down with me so I would know a little about it. My furnace was installed by ABCO IN NOVEMBER 2014. After beeing hospitalized for 4 days for a serious illness I came home to find my furnace not working. So I called ABCO first contact was with Diane who seemed interested enough to help me I let her know what was going on and that I did have a warranty.  She said ok but I still need to charge you $75 for a service call .  This being my first time experiencing this I was asking her why when the contract said parts and labor are included.  That is when she got so angry with me for questioning and making her explain the policy that I would be responsible for.  So I told her to hold off on my service call because I needed to check and make sure that was right.  So when I called her back (after confirming general practice to charge) I could tell by her tone  she was irritated that she had to go back into the system.  I explained to her that I had just got out of the hospital and that I was a disabled person and how cold it was in the house and she couldn't care less.  So finally she gives me a window between 1-5pm and this phone call took place at 945 am.  So I am supposed to sit in this freezing cold house until then?  I hope I dont end up in the hospital she again couldn't care less. So it is now 4:37pm and I havent heard anything from anyone and I call the office.  Diane says yes Frank is still coming he's been working on a boiler all day but he will be there.  At 545 Frank calls and says Im stuck in traffic I will be there at about 630pm.  I said ok. So 645pm he finally gets here.  He comes back to the furnace and says how many times have you got this maintenanced?  I said 0 it's only 2 years old.  He says "well to honor your warranty you need it maintenanced spring and fall."  I didn't know anything about that I told him.  I said this is my first time owning a home, Im sick all the time etc...  He said "yea they usually dont mention that when they install them."  So we talked for a minute he said it looks like the problem is just a maintenance thing and I can clean it all up for $150.  So I said ok.  He was back there for 10 min came out wrote up the paperwork took my check and left.   About 2am my daughters and I woke up to a freezing cold house.  The furnace had stopped working again.  So first thing this morning I call ABCO I calmly tell them that the service tech came out and it is broke again.  The receptionist transferred me to Frank (the service tech who came out last night) I said its dong the same thing again and he says "well I dont know why it was working when I left."  So I said well I don't know why either because you assured me before you left it was working.  Then he went on to ask me a question and I replied I dont know all I know is me and my daughters woke up at 2 am freezing cold and he said "I didnt ask you all of that!" Completely unapologetic.  So he says alright lets get you back on the schedule.  So the receptionist comes back on and says ok Frank will come back out between 1-5pm!  I was like no thats not ok I need someone out here now.  I have been in this house without heat for 2 days and the receptionist says ok we will see you then and hung up.   So I called back completely fustrated with the lack of empathy and total arrogance.  Diane picks up the phone this time and I asked to speak to someone above her she said they're is nobody above her.  I told her this could not be the standard of their customer service and she started attacking me for not changing my filter for not having my furnace serviced every season and finally I hung up.  15 minutes later FRANK calls and says ABCO WILL NOT be servicing your equipment any longer.  I asked why and the response was because of my attitude? So I called SUPERIOR HEATING AND COOLING IN COLUMBUS MI they gave me a window between 1-3 the service tech was here by 2 and found it was the circuit board had it fixed and running by 4. He was very professional and took the time to give me a once over on my furnace and shat to look for in the future. read more

PLEASE, SAVE YOURSELF . . . RUN AWAY from this hideous company. They talked me into a service contract by telling me I would be a priority customer if I had a problem. They serviced the furnace in the fall and it broke in the middle of winter. They came out that evening, for which I agreed to pay $175.00 service call) but did not have the part. The next morning they showed up around 10 a.m. with the wrong part. They then proceeded to service a customer on the way to picking up the part and then again on the way back. They finally returned to my house around 4:30 p.m.. All this time the office help was nasty and rude to my wife. I was out of heat for 23 hours. The price went from $350.00 to $1,250.00. And they said the dirty filter might have caused the issue because it was a year old. Really? I paid to have it serviced 3 or 4 months prior to that and they didn't bother to replace it. read more

Recommend against using this company for fireplace services. They installed a 6" metal liner in the chimney flue, which we later learned was completely wrong and way too narrow for our large fireplace to vent properly. Admittedly, they did the work 5 years ago and it took us until now to figure out the issue, but we had trusted ABCO as experts and did not put two and two together that the work they did caused bigger issues than what we originally hired them for. Top shelf work and customer service. Jeff busted his tail to get me an AC unit that fit my specific needs and budget. I used to work in an HVAC wholesale warehouse and worked with countless contractors in the Detroit area over the years. He went above and beyond what I expected of a heating and cooling company, both in customer service and quality of work. Jeff and his install crew were professional from minute one and were an absolute pleasure to work with. I'd received quotes from 5 or 6 companies before deciding on ABCO, and remain very pleased with my decision. I'm not sure where the 1 star reviews on here are coming from. I spoke with some of the other contractors I know in the Detroit area about Jeff and the ABCO team and "professional", "hard working" and "quality work" were phrases used repeatedly. At the beginning of 2015, I had 8 commercial units installed on the top of my office building. For the past two years, one of the air conditioning units has not been cooling. Last year, toward the middle of the summer, I had my own HVAC repair guy (a relative of a relative) come out and look at it. He put 4 lbs of refrigerant in and changed the filters. He said we should watch it to determine what might be the problem. It wasn't clear if there was a leak, loose cap, or some other problem. This year, once again it wasn't working. I called ABCO because I guess I STUPIDLY assumed that a commercial unit, that would be defective after three and a half years, would be covered under some type of warranty or even some "good faith" effort by these people to look into the problem after buying 8 units from them. I WAS DEAD WRONG. ABCO sent a poorly experienced technician to look at it. He told us the coils and filters were clogged and offered a 3 times a year service plan for $1750 to hose the coils and change the filters. (THATS almost $600 a VISIT!!!) He put 4 lbs of refrigerant again in it (duh- you think there's a leak?) and said he put in some "dye" to plug up "any pinhole type leaks" (after loosing 4 lbs in less than a year!!!!!?). I didn't agree to the service plan, but ended up shelling out $550 for the visit. A day later, the A/C was down again. When I called ABCO, I got a mouthy know -it- all named Jennifer, and she SCOLDED me for not having regular maintenance done and said that the A/C would work if we signed the $1750 contract for maintenance!!! I was a bit suspicious about how replacing filters would MAGICALLY make the unit work again. It was apparent they were not going to have anything to do with me unless I signed a service contract.(EXTORTION?) Somehow, my money was good enough when I spent $50K on their 8 units, but I was an IGNORANT OWNER now that I have a problem. Once again, I contacted my own HVAC repair guy who came out to look at the system. I climbed up the ladder in my dress and high heels to the rooftop with him. He showed me oil in a pan in the unit and said the ABCO guy should have known when he saw the oil in the pan that all the refrigerant had leaked out the first time last year. He said that it was pointless for the ABCO guy to put in any refrigerant or dye. In addition, he looked at the coils ON ALL THE UNITS and said they were perfectly clean and that this guy didn't know what the hell he was talking about. In addition, the ABCO guy had pulled out the filters and never put new ones in. My guy was stymied. When I called back to talk to Jennifer about this - I WAS in a huff and she basically told me she didn't need my business anyways because she "didn't like the way I was talking to her." Obviously- a poor choice to run customer service -HELLO OWNERS!!! I told her her the tech was NOT CORRECT about the coils being dirty and that MY HVAC guy wondered why he never put in a couple new filters. She said it was because we didn't sign the service agreement. I was totally befuddled that ANYONE WOULD RUN THEIR BUSINESS LIKE THIS!!!! WHY ARE WE NOT DISCUSSING THE PROBLEM OF THE LEAK!!!!!!! I should have read the google reviews first- I agree with the woman who said she would give them ZERO STARS -I would give them 10 ZERO STARS. I am in the process of disputing the $550 payment by credit card because THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD. I can only imagine they push they service contracts because they have such inexperienced techs that all they know how to do. I have my own HVAC guy coming out to repair the leak today. Was having an issue with our A/C this season & was looking for a local Company to check it out. We were fortunately able to connect with ABCO, a local HVAC company in the Romeo area. The young lady who answered the call was more than pleasant, & she assured me that the owner, Jeff would stop out that day. Well, let me tell you that I was more than impressed with Jeff & the was he was able to diagnose the problem quickly & at minimal cost to us. Upon further conversation with Jeff he told me how HVAC was the only trade that he does & that he learned from his father, starting at a young age. He told me how he was teaching his son the same way he learned. His demeanor was excellent & he seemed to truly enjoy what he was doing. Horrible company, very rude, they will miss the first promise date. When they do arrive the repair person complains about low pay and long hours. To top it off they encourage cash or a 6% upcharge. I was using First American Home Warranty, I payed cash to avoid the upcharge, ABCO Heating placed a claim with the insurance company and would not acknowledge the cash payment so it cost me twice as much. TERRIBLE ! DO NOT USE ABCO OR THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF! The ABCO technician, Frank, spent an hour in measuring the size of my house. He claimed he needs the precise measurement of my house to determine the size of new furnace I would need. The technician quoted over $3,700 for the installation of an 80% efficiency 140,000 BTU Amana furnace which he claimed he has to special order from Tennessee because no one in the world makes such a furnace ! I checked later from my web search and found that that particular Amana model has already been dis-continued ! What a joke ! I called the owner, Jeff and his assistant, Michelle for cancellation .They are very defensive, mean and unfriendly and would not listen to the customer. Michelle told me the furnace has to be specially made in Toledo, Ohio. Is it Tennessee or Toledo or what ? Since then, I hired another reputable Company to install a new 80% efficiency 155,000 BTU name brand furnace for $2,700 .This company installed my furnace the next day after I placed the order. Yes, just like many other companies a window of time for service is given and there are always difficulties and unexpected circumstances that cause delays. But I can tell you when they arrive they are prepared, correctly diagnose and repairs are made in a timely fashion.
