Calling back the original roof contractor and informing them of the leak they said I needed to replace the siding of the house in the area of the chimney chase at the tune of $4000!! I then began calling other various contractors for this repair and was told all kinds of BS, from having to rebuild the chimney chase, having to wait as they were too busy, too cold (it was December) and told to wait until spring, etc. It was a bad leak and causing damage to my home not to mention the stress caused on me being at the mercy of contractors. The repaired brickwork was not straight and square which I noticed shortly after the repair but, was willing to live with but I was told that they did not rebuild it to the correct height and the fact that they did not replace the flue liner is an issue. Lucas answered while on an existing job. He was very honest saying he can't drop by to make an assessment. Knowing the importance of the situation, he said he'll have his father drop by to take a look. The father (was it Joe?) came by as promised and saw that the previous roofer didn't put flashing around a portion of the chimney. He gave a couple of possible fixes and I picked the more expensive one. He gave me a break on price if i went with the more expensive fix which i appreciated. Before showing up for the work due to budgeting issues i changed to the lower price solution. He didn't have any problems with this change. He and his other son (not Lucas) came on the day as promised. The funny thing was I didn't know they were there until i heard banging outside! They ripped some of the old roof tiles, installed new flashing and overlay them with some leftover tiles I had laying around. They also caulked around other parts of the chimney. They cleaned up their mess. There were aome storms afterwards and no leak! Thx to Lucas for knowing the importance of the problem and having your father and brother fit me into their schedule.
